@@Trippingthroughadventures I’m sorry, but again America doesn’t do pizza correctly. The Italians never invented deep-dish, oily, fried pizzas. Great vid.....and I'm with Tiff on the crumble appraisal....I've been making crumble for years and that ain't no crumble..you CAN'T just sprinkle the topping on last minute...the seasonal fruit goes in a dish, crumble mix on top, sprinkle of demerara and hoof it in the oven for 40 minutes...it comes out crunchy on top, fruit juices bubbling around the edges and you pour fresh custard over it last minute...not a rose petal in sight! Just found your channel today... and subscribed🙂
Humble crumble is the child of us as children when we would have a rhubarb or apple crumble and the thing we all wanted was the crumble topping and custard more than the rhubarb or apple filling. The fact they do unlimited custard is great as you get the crumble and just mix it up and then as you work your way through it just go back for more custard to mix with the crumble we all loved as kids with our school dinners..
You know after being there in person staring at it in editing for hours, until you said something…. I didn’t realize that 😂 but to be fair, black currants was banned in America since 1911 to 1966 and some up to 2017 because it had a bacteria that could kill off our pine trees, so that berry is pretty much non existent to us, an with all the excited, my fat self got it mixed up.

Salt isn't necessary on fish and chips. Potato has a delicate flavour that is overwhelmed by salt. Do your palate a favour and stop using salt at all for a month, then see if you want to go back to using it.
That is about 10 x more vinegar than a Brit puts on ..... LOL....... it's an optional thing when you buy fish n chips..they always ask behind the counter in a proper "chippie" and you would reply ..yes/no/a little/just salt, but you've almost pickled it there lol
Yes, and the salt and vinegar only go on the chips, not the fish. Finally, you normally put some tartare sauce on the fish, and some tomato ketchup on the chips. But never mind. Glad you enjoyed everything, though I'd want to sit down somewhere and have some tea with all that food. But you seemed to enjoy it standing up anyhow.
@@wayinfront1 Salt and vinegar goes on everything, especially battered stuff as the oil they use these days tastes horrible. Chip shops don't usually have tartare sauce and ketchup though they might have little sachets of ketchup for kids food like chicken nuggets
Hi Guys. The doughnut you thought was cherry is actually blackcurrant. I don't think you have blackcurrant in the US. They are a tart currant, in the same family as redcurrant. Where you have grape flavour, we have blackcurrant - & they're full of Vit C!!
So side note first, you guys have black currant flavored things, we have imitation grape flavored things that taste nothing like a grape lol. Also yes this was a re accruing thing, we was aware of black currants…sort of… it’s non existent in the states… there’s a Nordic yogurt that came out in 2017 that has a black currant flavor and out of 34 years of life. That the only time I’ve seen that flavor. So the idea it’s so ubiquitous in the UK is surreal I did not know my mind would register black cherry every time I seen one but it would. Way better than grape lol.
@@TrippingthroughadventuresMost US states have now lifted the 1911 ban on blackcurrant production, but since Americans haven't grown up knowing the flavour, it hasn't caught on yet. The ban was originally for a good reason (it spread white pine rust threatening the timber industry), but times have changed and there's no good reason for it now. Grape flavour must be entirely artificial as they really don't taste of much, certainly not like your "grape" sodas and candies.
Hi for an American coming over to our beautiful land you my friend explained the flavours and textures of the sticky toffee pudding better than a lot of brits, good job.
lol a lot of people don’t realize on here, to Americans, toffee sauce doesn’t explain much, we don’t know puddings, in which we should, England has beautiful food lol. They think I’m degrading it calling it a Carmel sauce lol. 99% of Americans would describe that as a salted Caramel sauce. And I’m mind blown as an American editing these videos how I just read black cherry when it says black current. Cuz black currant is non existent in America. Even among what we would consider exotic fruits. It just doesn’t exist in the states.
@@Trippingthroughadventures yes there 2 different fruits and no caramel was good as i said you did a good job and I'm going to subscribe and well done for getting so many subscribers, 🍻
@@Trippingthroughadventures sticky 'toffee' is such a misleading name! As a child I HATED toffees (the candy); from the flavour to the way it gets stuck to your teeth, I could not stand toffee - and I still can't to this day. As a result, I refused to try sticky toffee pudding for so many years of my life - I mean, the name embodies everything I hate about toffee! It was only when I reached my teenage years and started taking a more serious interest in cooking and learned how it was made that I realised that it was more like a dark caramel sauce. It is now one of my favourite desserts, particularly when served hot with a really good quality vanilla ice cream to cut through the sweetness! Heavenly!

Right! I thought that within seconds of this video. It just sounds so wrong. We say please at the end of pretty much every request, not just at the end of the interaction all together. So “sticky toffee and a crème brûlée please” and “ what’s the chances you could add that on please, thank you”
@@Esther19870 so in America I guess it’s not that formal I guess, there’s times we start with “ May I “ which I guess comes off as a submissive way of asking, or we say “can I have a” and when you receive it you add the “ thank you very much “.basically as long as you say something lol but In the future I will try to be more British and less American in my manners. @@Trippingthroughadventures I work in a touristy thing around the corner from the market so I come across people from all over, I’ve got used to all the different ways people interact so I’m not that bothered but if you want to do it the British way then please after every request, personally I like it when Americans call me “mam”. @@Esther19870 I’m from the south in America and I noticed a lot of the lady’s would get a laugh when I would call them ma’am. Our doughnuts are very different to US ones, we prefer floury doughnuts with fresh or dessert flavours as fillings over glazed and artificial flavours. I also think that rhubarb is an acquired flavour that us Brits tend to grow up with, we quite like tangy and sharp fruit flavours in our desserts complemented with soft flavours like custard and creams. You guys should give Spitalfields market and Mercato metropolitano a go. P.s fun fact Bridget Jones’ fictional apartment is next to Borough market.
Our problem was the opposite, strawberry rhubarb pie is big in the states , even here in Florida key lime pie is huge, but the custard and crumble was very out of proportion.
@@TrippingthroughadventuresI must admit as a Brit, that crumble didn’t look appealing, it should be cooked as a whole dish in an oven then portioned up so the lower part of the crumb mixes with the liquid from the fruit and the upper part becomes crispy
@@Trippingthroughadventures To be honest I don't really think crumble works that well as an "eating-out food". If you say crumble to me I think of Sunday afternoon, a big dish bubbling away in the oven. Or maybe invited to dinner round someone's house and either the host has made one for afters or one of the guests made it at home and brought it round to cook. It's home cooking, a big dish cooked together for sharing out straight from the oven with custard or ice cream. Not individual portions cooked to order or chef-ily constructed out of separate fruit and crumble parts. I've had crumbles out of course, at pubs or restaurants, but I don't think even the best restaurant crumble has ever been quite as satisfying as the lowliest home cooked one!
@@Trippingthroughadventures You are assuming that a pub crawl is an evening event. You need to spend longer in the UK to learn that a lunchtime/afternoon pub crawl is a perfect way to spend a half-day off work in London (before heading home on the tube or train about 8pm).
Borough Market is one of the best food markets I've ever been to so I agree. But these day's its very very pricey for what you get and I feel some of the stalls are overcharging and under delivering (or that's just because rent has shot up) . Food markets in Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool are also producing incredible food and the price is more reasonable.
sorry to be pedantic, but as i noticed a couple of comments below and your response, i had to comment. as pleasant as you seem, you responded when asked by saying a crème Brule and a sticky toffee. there was no please or thank you, and they were not edited out. just a that's fine when asked if 1 box was ok. sorry if seems a tad trivial, but i immediately noticed whilst watching, as was noticeably at odds with the very pleasant first few minutes. i know a cliché about us brits, and may be deemed excessive by some, but manners are really important over here. you will struggle unless you use please and thank you pretty much as a reflex. also, people will be nicer to you too. win win.
I already got that under control when we hit 5,000 subs I will be returning to England and taking etiquette classes. I know people mean no harm, and I think the idea of saying please after ever single request is simply not an American attribute lol. Something that I would like to work on because even in the states it wouldn’t hurt me lol.
I’m southern so “thank you” is heavily emphasized but please is more insinuated, so how you ask for something is more important than please, terms like “May I “ or “can” is a almost a way of Lessing yourself in the situation. Giving the person who serves you the power on an odd way. It almost sets up this situation that “ I know it’s your job, but you don’t have to for me “ type thing, I always say I’m southern so I apologize for existing lol. This means if someone runs into me 100% their fault, first words out of my mouth “ ohh I’m sorry” (if I didn’t exist this wouldn’t have happened) lol. So basically we replaced please with an attitude of unsureness if we are worthy of the McDonald’s server making our fries 😂🤣😂
We shall search for authenticity, we know not to judge a food by its pretty trendy version, we want the old ugly version the old lady’s been making for 80 years lol
The market has been there 1k years, so wev had time to get things right. Cod or Haddock are best fish and chips. The not liking the food is a through back to WW2 when finally the Americans arrived we had had 2 years of rationing. So our food was extreamly limited like 2oz of butter a week, so get with it US our food is much healther than yours far less chemicals and amazing veriaty. Good lord those doughnuts looked ridiculous, another cool video guys. Did you get a chance to eat at any Indian restaurants? I’m hoping that’s coming up in a future video lol.
Hake is still good, Cod and Haddock are very popular too and you also see Plaice quite often, any white fish can be used really, Coley is very good too but my all time favourite for fish and chips is Turbot, the odd fish and chip shop will sell it but it's reasonably rare, you see it a lot more in seafood restaurants and it tends to be quite expensive too, but if you ever come across Turbot on your travels definitely try it, it's a really delicious fish.

You missed out on a lot. Go to the South bank at weekends fantastic choice.
I’m really feeling judged right now 😂 I could have edited to make it like we are the fish and chips first, but I felt like this was a judgement free zone😂🤣… so how things look in vlogs don’t play out like they do in real life, the places we chose was tactical, because they are “trendy” to an American viewer. The plan was to eat them and then get other stuff, but we wasn’t planning on them being that good … and …eating all it …. And then getting sad cuz we ate to much … and then leaving to walk off the fat sadness.
Im amazed you thought our donuts were so good . I was in Quakertown PA a few years ago and just fell in love with the cinnamon donuts and coffee , Id be the size of a house if I lived there. Also , whilst we say 'fish and chips with salt and vinegar' , the vinegar goes on first so that the salt sticks to the chips, otherwise the vinegar can wash the salt off. Great vid guys , love it x
So I think it’s just the lack of chemical in it, a lot of our doughnuts crispycreme Dunkin’ taste so processed but I’m sure you had good doughnuts around those Amish areas.
@@Trippingthroughadventures Thats a good point , I never thought of that but arent donuts just fried dough with added fruit and or flavoured custards topped with sugar ? Are they really filled with preservatives , E-numbers etc ?

@@Trippingthroughadventures As a Brit who has eaten pizza in Italy and New York, I personally find the New York style to be the best in the world! There's a lot of bad and mediocre pizza in the UK.
Thank you we are in talks to do a live stream where you guys walk us through some of these recipes lol. 😂
All usa citizens are welcome in the uk. Peace from Wolverhampton England
Thank you, we love your country it’s rich in beauty and culture.
That was not black Cherry doughnut.. it was Black current, which is a smaller tarter berry.
Blackcurrant cheesecake donut, not black cherry - that’s why it didn’t taste of cherries, because it wasn’t cherries 😅

A tip when eating fish & chips, salt after you splash on the vinegar. Salt first gets washed off by vinegar.
Why would you put salt on battered fish?
@@dannywachowski5880 why wouldn't you?
@@rodjones117 It's already nicely seasoned and I only salt the chips
Salt isn't necessary on fish and chips. Potato has a delicate flavour that is overwhelmed by salt. Do your palate a favour and stop using salt at all for a month, then see if you want to go back to using it.
@@Ozone280 Are you on drugs 🤷🏼♂️
That is about 10 x more vinegar than a Brit puts on ..... LOL....... it's an optional thing when you buy fish n chips..they always ask behind the counter in a proper "chippie" and you would reply ..yes/no/a little/just salt, but you've almost pickled it there lol
😂🤣😂 I laughed to hard at this…. It tasted great though
Chip shops don't usually have tartare sauce and ketchup though they might have little sachets of ketchup for kids food like chicken nuggets
thats not more vinegar that we put on in northern ireland, fish should be drown in vinegar.
@@wayinfront1 nah mate youre talking shite haha vinegar goes on everything. Even the peas.
@@Trippingthroughadventures Try some Ribena while you're in the UK. Definitive blackcurrant: definitively British!
Yeah big difference

Right! I thought that within seconds of this video. It just sounds so wrong.
We say please at the end of pretty much every request, not just at the end of the interaction all together.

@@johnleonard9090 this was probably 20% fruit 70% crumble 20 percent custard
@@Trippingthroughadventures To be honest I don't really think crumble works that well as an "eating-out food". If you say crumble to me I think of Sunday afternoon, a big dish bubbling away in the oven. Or maybe invited to dinner round someone's house and either the host has made one for afters or one of the guests made it at home and brought it round to cook. It's home cooking, a big dish cooked together for sharing out straight from the oven with custard or ice cream. Not individual portions cooked to order or chef-ily constructed out of separate fruit and crumble parts.
I've had crumbles out of course, at pubs or restaurants, but I don't think even the best restaurant crumble has ever been quite as satisfying as the lowliest home cooked one!
lol dont speak for all of us please
Usually we have a ten minute walk around the market and then start our pub crawl in the Market Porter pub!
That sounds like a killer night lol
@@Trippingthroughadventures i lived in california for a few years. not too bad actually. new york may take a while.

If you want to be shown around Nottinghamshire - Robin Hood county - then happy to help. There's a street in Radford that serves the best kebabs in the world, no contest. Sadly our best fish restaurant went out of business due to the pandemic lockdowns, but there's still plenty of other great food.
nice to see someone else like me that likes there fish and chips on there vinegar
If there was something wrong with it they would limit it 🤣😂🤣😂
Boss level vinegar pour on your fish and chips there. Respect!
“To much vinegar” is statement quitters make.
@@Trippingthroughadventures 😂Exactly!
when adding the vinegar, i was - please stop now
Funny we was like “ what’s the appropriate amount? lol do we cover it all? Well we have to cover it all or else it wouldn’t make sense?” lol🤣😂🤣😂
@@Trippingthroughadventures It is each to their own! fair play for giving the fish n chips a go.
Good video, welcome to blackcurrant flavours. I have subscribed
Did you have the doughnuts before the fish and chips??? I would have had the cakes after, not first, spoils your taste buds for the fish and chips.
We moved away from London, dont miss it at all, till I see these videos then I do. The food looks amazing.
We did we wondered aimlessly down the alley ways eating what we thought looked good
@@Trippingthroughadventures it all looked good, glad you are enjoying the food
We did it was all wonderful
Hi guys, Glasgow is thee place you need to visit. Tikka masala was invented here RIP M r Ali, no sub standard Indian restaurant will last 5 mins here. Seems the Chinese Curry sauce was also invented here. It's a place of great food from all over the planet, stunning architecture, beautiful parks/gardens and AMAZING museums (free), one of the oldest underground transport systems in the world. definitely open mikes, we have the best bands Simple Minds, Travis, Texas so many many more. Comedians Billy Connolly, Kevin Bridges, etc etc. As for Nessie, don't worry we know she's there and ok. The deal is she plays hide & seek with the visitors😉. I'll get back to you regarding the castles, but trust me You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet till you come to God's own Country.
I got some goose bumps not going to lie 😂😂🤣😂
That's very little like a proper crumble. The crumble should be baked on top if the fruit, which gives texture gradation from sludge to cake to crumble to crunch, with some caramelised fruit.
YOUR MISSUS ATE THE DATE ON THE STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING DOUGHNUT ...... if that doesn't warrant at least a trial separation idk what does
I thought about it, but she’s been with us so long she almost like a part of the family 🤣😂🤣😂
i want all them doughnuts!!!
😔 me too.. me too…
I’m loving your England vlogs and your reactions to the food but it’s way too dark!! Is there any way to lighten what you’re recording so we can see details? Can’t wait for the next instalment.
Thank you that was an issue with the camera (user error issue lol ) that lasted from this vlog and part of the next one that should clear up after that.
Blackcurrant NOT Cherry, it was banned in the states until fairly recently. The berries have a coating that affects some trees ! (I think !)
Allegedly the Food reputation is a result of the American soldiers opinion during WWII when Brits were quite heavily rationed ! Especially compared to what the recently arrived GIs were used to !
If you like Fruit Pies ! Try GOOD Crumble, Apple Crumble, Rhubarb Crumble ! My favourite is Gooseberry Crumble but Hens teeth are more common, usually if I want it I have to Make it Myself !
Quite a lot of British food has been "appropriated?" from somewhere else ! CURRY anyone ?
You should also try saying please when you order things. Just saying.
We do, on the dough nut I was reaching and drop the camera as I was saying “thank you soo much” so I had to clip it. We also stayed there for a few minutes talking to the staff and raving about our experience and how great a job they’re doing. But as vloggers in a world of vloggers we see how insincere that comes off with a camera in their face. That’s also why are shots arnt perfect we don’t want to put any one out just so we can have a nice shot for our vlog. Either we get it or we don’t. lol my favorite words is “oh , no don’t stop do what you want I’m just an idiot with a camera “ 😂🤣😂
Catching up on your old vids, you're a nice couple. Doesn't feel like you're trying to make friends and are honest when aren't 100 on something. Lots of vloggers eat absolute trash and then complain, like bro go look around. You need to try a norhern curry sometime they seem to have that nailed imo.
Yea we try to be totally honest with food. We love curry we will give that a shot.
How can you go there and not go to the globe tavern for a pint to wash it all down?
We are unaware of Globe tavern but our next vlog is our first pub Experience.
@@Trippingthroughadventures the globe is in borough Market, in the Bridget Jones films she lives in the flat above the pub. It's a very Instagramable place so might be great for your SEO and visibility on TH-cam
@@craigstewart6073 if this series does well we have been talking about a continuation, we will have to check that out when we return.
@@Trippingthroughadventures good luck to you both
@@craigstewart6073 thank you 🙏
As a foodie and Brit and ex chef I was like whaaaaaat nooooo noooooooo noooooooooooooo!!!!! Fish and chips... You shouldn't ever do what you did... The malt vinegar always goes on first... Know why? The salt sticks to the vinegar... When you salt then vinegar... It drops all the salt to the bottom you're effectively washing the salt off 😭
Any way... Glad you enjoyed it here! And if you come back? Vinegar then salt please thankyou ❤
Noted … thank you and I’m sorry if I caused you any mental distress, lol I do apologize. It be like coming to America and taking a bite out of hot dog from the middle first lol 😂
@@Trippingthroughadventures UHMMMMM WE ALL KNOW THAT THE BEST IS THE MIDDLE PART 😏 and dontcha worry hehe ❤️ oh and if you do visit again etc... a tip for you... Avoid the jellied eels... Every nation has their weird foods... That's the Brits one ❤️
@@ysabelcook9521 nah we are going for some jellied eels next time, gross or not I got to try it or try to gag it, which ever is to be 😂🤣🤣
If you do it properly 'grazing' the samples at Borough Market, you can be totally full in a couple of hours and don't have to buy anything...
Like at costcos you have you a nice Sunday meal if you take your time lol let um forget ur face and go back for seconds 🤣😂
vinegar first mate so the salt sticks to it
Salt and malt vinegar for the win.
Some peoples saying it was way to much… to be fair… I coulda put more 😂🤣😂 an im not ashamed to say it lol 😂
@@Trippingthroughadventures If you have the time in London try some pie and mash, have it with the liquer sauce and add chili vinegar and white pepper. Pie and mash is working class food, cheap and VERY filling, you don't really see pie and mash shops anywhere else other than London.
You also need to go to Brick Lane and try the Indian food, London (and the UK) is the home to the second largest community of Indian peoples out side of India itself.
And don't forget to try a full English breakfast at least once 😄
So I’m currently in America trying to find where I can find bangers, so the eggs and toast is easy we get Heinz beans and brown sauce in our international section and I lucked into some bacon lol. And I love the pies but that will have to be winter time food it’s already 29 degrees in Florida, so something that heavy will ruin a man lol.
@@Trippingthroughadventures From what I've seen the closest thing to bangers in the US is what you guys call "breakfast sausages", if you can find blood sausage (black pudding) you should give it a try too, it's one of those things that sounds gross, but once you fry it, it's god tier!
@@Trippingthroughadventures Have you tried bubble and squeak ?
Best food in my life. And we've been to....Murica 😆
8:08. I can't believe you just did that
We defy the odds lol
Awesome 🎉❤
Thank you
Be aware that £4.50 is INCREDIBLY expensive for a doughnut. That is about 4x the average price.
So if this series goes well as it’s going we will be back soon but we are going to focus on less touristy more standard English places we are currently setting up a membership program to help prepare for it.
@@Trippingthroughadventures I should add that £4.50 for a very, very, very nice donut as a treat is pretty fair, before you think us all skinflints
Need to try real crumble. So wrong 😅 needs to be mire like granola texture not thin layer of powdery stuff. Loved the look of the donuts though!!
