I've never understood how, if she went from trifle to shepherd's(/cottage) pie in the recipe book, she ends up with the top layers back to trifle? You'd think it would be topped with mashed potato.

i always assumed it went repeat steps x-y, so she flipped back to the trifle recipe, but upon further thought, you don’t actually build layers in a shepard’s pie, do you, it’s kind of a one meat layer, one potato layer and done sort of deal isn’t it.
I just figured that with the pages stuck together the middle of the trifle page was torn but the top and bottom was fine
just had an absolutely visceral reaction to hearing “if it’s not real it’s not right” for the first time in about two years

As someone who struggles to remember to feed herself an appropriate amount and variety of food, my body might just be immensely satisfied with the immediate and efficient contents of a beef trifle and I might love it

4:09 thank you for pointing out that its a cottage pie. Here in the US regardless of meat it ends up getting called a shepherds pie and it drives me nuts. The naming for shepard verses cottage is cute, its easy to remember, but everyone ignores it.😢

This was an awesome experiment, beef trifle truly looks like one of those oddly tasty things(like a PB&J burger)
I really want to try making it myself now except I'm also a supertaster, and Hazel's reaction makes me worry a bit
My biggest take away from this video is that you can freeze egg whites. That's in no way an insult to the video, that knowledge is just going to save me at some point in the future, im certain.
