This is honestly one of the most movie accurate licensed games I've ever played. Every level is based off of a scene from the movie, it's clearly got the Tim Burton style nailed, every villain you fight is in the movie, the music is inspired by the Danny Elfman score, etc. As a kid who loved the movie, this was just amazing to me!
@@jamgrams3244 I feel U, brah. That was the greatest Superman game of all time, just like Maximum Carnage was the greatest Spider-Man game of all time. LONG LIVE THE 90's!!! CHILDHOOD MEMORIES 4EVER!!!💯💯💯👍👍👍
I said the same thing 2 years ago when the Cowabunga Collection was announced. It needs to happen. The only problem that I can think of is that Konami probably won't have any say in it since I doubt they hold any rights to the Batman license anymore, and it probably won't happen.
I like this beat 'em up game based on the 1992 movie Batman Returns for the Super Nintendo. The company had recently acquired the licensed for the upcoming Tim Burton Batman sequel, Batman Returns. And was originally conceived and looking to create an arcade game based on the property, just in time for the 1992's movie release. Konami had mistakenly thought that the license would allow them to create both home and arcade titles based on the property, but unfortunately, it only allowed for the home. In its place, they decided to use A Real American Hero by the name of G.I. Joe. The graphics plays like Capcom's Final Fight, and is in the same league for beat'em ups as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time on the Super NES. A must-have and one of the best games for the Super NES' library that I'm going to have get one day. Also, one of the best movies to watch every year.
i remember i had a sega genesis and friend had an snes and we traded systems for a week and he gave batman.......this game was out cold I remember beating this
This is still one of my favorites from my childhood including The 1992 Movie Itself that was a Summer Hit Release despite being a Christmas Movie still back then and I still play it via SNES Emulator where I beat it on Mania Mode Difficulty in order to get The True Ending Reward that says: “You Are The True Dark Knight” like many times also.
Idc what anyone says I was so addicted to this game years ago as a kid it was by far the best Batman game around clean n best sound effects 🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫👽👽👽😎😎😎😎
man i just now finding out that Aspect Co. that developed this game on snes when defunct in 2018 this game would've been crazy if they would've been in business to remake this game from the ground up using modern technology. this game was already ahead of it's time for how good it was made i would've loved to see how a remake would've looked like and see if the actual cast to do the voice over. I'm buying this game in two days when next month hit i can't freakin wait. it just looks tons of fun, i missed that about games when it was fun to play and wasn't realistic repetitive garbage like what we get today.
Gotta appreciate all the Tim Burton aesthetics that translated so well to snes graphics, creativity and resourcefulness. The lighting on Batman in the cutscenes is something easily taken for granted.
Owned the game as a kid btw. Also owned a snes game genie so I remember all these levels so vividly. Game genie always allowed me to sit and appreciate the backgrounds and frames of animation while my Batman took no damage. I am a pro animator now as an adult.
Watching Batman slap away fat clowns ineffectively bouncing towards him by flinging batarangs at them is I'll admit the highlight of this game...also, the grappling hook Easter egg against the first boss is pretty awesome too.
Colossus happens to be one of my top-ten favorite X-Men characters due to not only his tremendous size and power, but also because of his kind heart and unconditional loyalty to his 'comrades'.
@@Mike-t5r9q - You gotta understand. I collect and hoard. About 1-2 years ago. I had to ask myself.....What is there, that I don't have ??????? May i suggest the Sunsoft Death and Return of Superman it's very fun to play beat them up game on SNES too and of course Finale fight series as well! 😉
3 days before Christmas 1992. As a kid I was blown away of the graphics and beautiful soundtrack!
I got this for that christmas. Instant classic 👍
I got this along with the Alien 3 game.

Back in the 90s, this and Maximum Carnage was the Arkham and Insomniac series
The Death & Return Of Superman was pretty good, 2. U should check it out sometime FAM, NO DOUBT. 💯💯💯
@@t-bonelewis9477 Broooo you just awakened a memory, that game was so cash

Rented this so many times in the 90s. Could never get the hard mode ending.
Best soundtrack ever, at the time.
hahahaha ! hard game, I got a guide back then to finish it on mania level.
I managed to finish it on pc using an emulator but after the fourth time i played it and not of course in hard mode
I beat the game on dark knight mode if I'm not mistaken it shows catwoman looking at the bat signal.
I did
I absolutely loved this game when I was a kid...i spent so much time playing it ...its still good today!
One of my favorite games of all time. It's timeless 😀😀
One of my all-time favorite SNES games! I got this as a birthday present when it came out.
Me too! One of the first I ever got in my life.
This was a 5 Star game. Pure Epic!
Sincerely,
Michael Keaton was the best Batman and '89 rendition of the Batmobile was the best ever.
Without a doubt.
Thanks for thinking like me...
KEATON IS BATMAN !
I totally agree!😁✌🏾
Most Iconic but not the best
Michael Keaton was and is and always be the best Batman ever
I played this as a kid on SNES ;) It was and still is awesome!
I have to admit that the SNES version of Batman returns is better than Sega
By miles
I agreed too. 😃
Unfortunally KONAMI did it and not Nintendo.
Hey bud Sega does what Nintendon't 😂 oh yeah baby old school who remembers that slogan
Sega cd virsion's got good music and great drive levels
I was just telling my brother a few months ago, "Remember when Batman games didn't take you a year to beat?" 😂
One of the greatest batman games in 16 bit
Used to play this for hours after school. Got so proficient, that its pretty much the only beat em up I learned to play on the hardest difficulty.
Still have my og snes and my copy of Batman returns with instruction pamphlet...👍🏼
Couldn't wait to come home from school and play this.
One of my favorites beat em ups ever
This games needs a remaster for the systems. Cause this was a pure classic. Played this game til the wheels fell off
Same and I agree
Final fight meets Batman…this is just one reason why I regret not having a Super Nintendo growing up…the rich kids always had more than one system lol
Glad to see the game captured Movie Batman's non issue with taking the life of his foes. (Loved this game as a kid)
Loved the sound effects of this game as a kid. Fun game.
I still play this to this day and Sunset Riders, epic
This is precisely how Batman would play this game: absolutely amazing.
They should make a Batman retro collection game in the future.

Great game , excelent gameplay , controls, music ... and the nes version music and cutscenes are also great too
I missed out on playing this when I was a kid because I had a Sega but I would love to play this!
Rats with wings do your thing😂
This soundtrack is amazing. It's mostly different of the movie but at the same time sounds like it was composed by Danny Elfman itself.
The music of this game !
Great game, lovely details, such as throwing someone against a sign post and it gets a dent.
Those graphics are still impressive. SNES was a real technical beast

I absolutely love those Art Deco statues towards the beginning of this game!
im 46 now, I remember playing and beating this game when I was 14. rented it at the local Blockbuster Video.
Man. This video uploader played this game the childhood version of myself wish he could.
0:26 😲Whoa! When does Batman rock a piece like that? Must be an alternate spaghetti dcu. He holds Gotham at 'peice' with his presence indeed.
Watching this, I’m convinced the player is Batman himself.
This hits harder than the Punisher arcade cabinet.
The game engine in this had to have been reused for The Death and Return of Superman a couple years later, the gameplay animations are very similar
I got this in March of 1993. I remember GamePro gave it a perfect score. My favorite move was smashing two enemies’ heads together.
At that time this game was very impressive
This is the greatest remastered game ever🦇🐈⬛🐧🎄✌
I loved this game as a kid.
This is still one of my favorites

including The 1992 Movie

Well damn didn't know this was SNES gonna have to give it a try
Who else loved grabbing the bad guy and throwing him up on the wall
Or through the windows 💪🏼💯🙏🏼😂😎
The perfect video game tie-in from the Tim Burton and Danny Elfman era.
Idc what anyone says I was so addicted to this game years ago as a kid it was by far the best Batman game around clean n best sound effects 🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫👽👽👽😎😎😎😎
35th minute onwards is pure Danny Elfman. Still incredible music and game 30 years on.
Keaton the GOAT Batman.
When Konamu was a badass gaming company
This are the batman games I love, I'm not into modern Batman games
The music juss brings some much nostalgia.
Best SNES game ever made
The window throw was the most satisfying part of the game. It bothers me how this gimmick is not available in later levels .

One of the best games of Batman and for the Snes
Also, one of the best movies to watch around Christmas. 😁
Always loved throwing them against the wall. Fantastic game!
*Damn this looks good as hell imagine a modern day remaster of this game.....one of my favorite retro batman game same as original Nes version*
You can tell, they took lots of inspiration for the gameplay from Final Fight.
Classic beat em up games

Is it really a easter egg or just a part of the
Movie/game.
This and the dark knight rises are my favorite batman movies

Got this game Christmas 93' along with Sonic 2.
This game is highly underrated and it's SOOOOOOO GUD!!!
I bought this last year. Time flies.

Michelle Pfeiffer was Catwoman in that movie

Batman Returns I love the Game Super Nintendo the best!!
0:15 I was expecting the line reveal to fill out- The Vulture. Birdman would have also validated.
The picture is so smooth, how did you get it?

What is this and why does it look so good?
