In 25 years buying gear, this is the only one that i never sold. Nobody take a look to step sequencer of this device, and this is totally sick! Infinity possibles.
Got one in a trade just yesterday. It was going straight to the resale bin, but so far it has squashed most of my prejudices about multi-fx pedals, it can even turn humbuckers into single coils. Looking forward to see more videos on it.
I sold mine back in 2011 and I still miss it more times and than what I’m willing to accept. Very good lead tone, the wah is killer (to my ears), the synth sounds are wicked, the expression pedal is very responsive, the only thing missing is a looper. Seen it occasionally on reverb or ebay for about 100.
This pedal is the first pedal I ever owned! It got so much use over the years! I miss it dearly, some of the features were really fantastic! Hearing it again makes me want to track one down.
I've had one for years. Never used any of the presets as they mostly sounded terrible to me. Really does benefit from tinkering as there are some things you may miss. Changing the cabs really can make a huge difference to the sound so it's always worth playing with them. I use it straight into my amp with a tiny bit of gain, it just takes the edge off the digital harshness.
I still have this pedal and revisited it this week after 4 years of not using it. I know my way around it like the back of my hand. There are things it doesn't do like 4cm. The onboard IR's are terrible but with 3rd party IR's it sounds really, really good. The reverbs are ok and usable but the delays sit in the mix very well. The amp models with 3rd party IR's are very good. They stack up well to my HX Stomp, almost as good in fact!
Gearfacts I believe they make IR pedals now that can act as your Cabinet sim. You could use it in the insert loop on the Korg. Otherwise, you would import a third party IR (either a free one or purchased as part of a pack) and import that into your DAW and apply that to your Korg tracks, disabling the Korg Cab sim of course when you do this.
HendrixToTheEnd oh so you mean like an amp simulator pedal. Yeah I think amp and cabinet modelling has come quite a long way since the release of the AX3000g. Still love it though :)
I agree it was a big innovation by Korg, presented to an unimaginative market that just wanted to live in the past, and still does. They didn't go for it :/
'UK68P' amp sim plus the vox wah wah sim plus a bit of occasional slap back delay or reverb is all it seems to get used for...into a clean amp with compression. The duel phaser is good to have.
I bought this pedal twice and sold it twice. The modulation and delay effects are really great, but there is too much compression and tone suck going on in the amp and and pre-fx models.
@@gearfacts I used to have the same problem, but how about plugging it into a DI box, or into the effects loop? I don't have it anymore becaise a fellow band member got inside my head with that same argument, he was right, but maybe trying these things solve the problem. this guy really makes it sound actually quite amazing by doing that DI box thing. th-cam.com/video/nMuvzEls_nM/w-d-xo.html
Thanks man ...I was just chatting to some guitar ppl the other day and someone asked "Which guitarist really bores you to death?" and my answer was "Me.... everytime I hear myself play I think ohhhhhh no not this guy again.... !!"
Ax1500 was awesome and VERY popular... then this came out and kinda didn't do anything. The reality is that I'm gigging with a £3k pedalboard rig... and there is still many sounds/FX that the Korg AX series does that you just cannot get... mainly the traveller filter wah and the drone... yes you can just about create the sounds...but you'd need some very specific pedals to do so.
Im a beginner. Im around 9 months in. Im getting this (used) for around 90 dollars.. im also on a budget. I don’t usually use distortion. Should i go ahead with this one? Or get a Zoom G3n for double the money?
Found this for $100. Looking for a good processor with synth effects so I don't have to keep switching to keyboard. And this seems to be the exact device I am looking for...and for $100?! Sold. Thanks for the vid. You got some cool licks!
ive had this pedalboard for years and to me its not perfect, but once you get to tweak it a bit it gets you there, without spending a lot in other pedals. BTW cool sounds, is there any chance you might share your settings on the patches you show in this video? (i know you can actually load them through midi, if you have the patch, but i just cant get that to work and trust me, ive tried millions of times
It's close. I think I'd choose the Korg for it's additional experimental features. But if you want to just hit it and play, the Boss might feel a bit more instantaneous in its approach.
Hi there...at the end of this video you said you'd be doing a tutorial. Did you ever do it? I see the keyboard one but not the tutorial...for which I'm in desperate need of :)
I didn't sorry John. As I recall I was half way through making it when I had a whole bunch of data loss. The pedal had been sold at that time, and there was no way for me to make an intelligible video about it. So my apologies for that. I did make an older video that has some good close-ups of the dials and what's going on, though it's certainly not what you'd call a tutorial. It is indeed a bugger to operate: th-cam.com/video/yz9zlOybE1c/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Gearfacts
@@gearfacts Thanks very much for the reply. I did watch this one earlier too, but I knew it wasn't the planned tutorial as it was made before the other one. I feel like I have some type of handicap learning guitar technology stuff - all of it, but especially multi-effects. I have a Digitech RP300, and this Korg was bequeathed to me when my best friend recently passed; the Digitech is all "matrix-based" settings and the manual is a foot thick - but when I look at something like the Boss ME-80, it looks so much easier b/c it's all knobs and just seems clearer-cut....but I don't want to spend the money, when I have two pedals sitting here and it's not like I'm out gigging anyway. 20 years ago when I did gig, I used an old Grate GFX-1200 head with the built-in effects and footswitch, and while most serious players would laugh it out of the club, it worked for me for what we were, a hard rock / alt rock cover band w/me playing rhythm and it was loud as hell, lol. Thanks again!
@@joeblough261 Nope, you're not handicapped and you're certainly not alone in the haze of multi-effects confusion! Now that you mention it, after 100's of multi effects reviews I really can't think of any particular one that I'd describe as "easy to operate". The Boss ME-25 comes to mind though. I'd be inclined to sell the other two to fund an ME-25. Though I Understand that might be difficult with your recently inherited AX3000G.
Hmmm I'd only buy it if I was specifically looking for the sequencing component. There are units that give much better tone. My favourite is the Boss GT-6, but the Line 6 HD300 is also very good. Also the Digitech RP360XP sounds very professional if you are happy with a smaller unit size.
the key is: difficult to control, as you said. It explains why an average guitarist does not pay attention to it. I had the AX 30G- the menu freaked me out. And then, no real bypass
This device sounds really good, but it's just like any other Chinese product that doesn't last long enough, and when you open it to check it out for maintenance you'll see how it's made of very cheap weak materials!! It looks hard and tough from the outside but when you look at its content from the inside you'll wonder how it lasted for 24 hours!!
Eventually Chinese gear will be as good as Japanese things. They need time to develop their domestic technology, and for corporate competition to drive quality up. It's just economics, not a reflection of willingness or quality of character.
@@gearfacts of course! The factory preset gains all seemed brittle to me. Probably some goid eq'ing and maybe Korg's lush octave down would do the trick . :) The knobs and interface is so nice, I can overlook the ugly switches. Ha

Gearfacts Impulse Response.

Those synth effects are dope. I would love to see more of these kind of synth/guitar hybrid effects.
I'll be showing a whole lot more of those in the next video :) GF
There is still no one who could master this pedal as it deserves, as they say, a complete mystery
Yeah the manual is hard to follow and the button layout is definitely not intuitive.

Can you join a zooom g3 with a ax3000gif so how do you do it
yep, I'd do it by connecting a lead from the Left line out socket on the Korg to the input on the Zoom. So guitar>Korg>Zoom>amp/headphones
great playing sir :). btw, is it used in the effects loop section on the bk of the amp or on the floor like a normal pedal? thanks
I used it into the input socket, but depending on the amp it can be better to use the effects loop :)
