Sticking with the theme of Queen and booty. Bicycle Race, the double A side to Fat Bottom Girls, was promoted by the band hiring 65 nude models to have a race around Wimbledon stadium. Then filmed it as part of Bicycle Race's promotion video. Needless to say the video got banned in many places. The early Queen Jazz albums had fold out posters of the race as well. I was lucky to get one as they too got banned shortly after. At least here in North America. The uncensored version of the video does reside on TH-cam if you are interested.
I remember that pull out poster very well! My dad had it hanging up above his bedroom door when I was growing up. I can still visualize all of those naked women on bicycles. Things like this is what makes albums much better. You don't get goodies like this with iTunes!

I saw Queen & Thin Lizzy two nights in back to back performances in '77 in Boston.
It's up there with ACDC in Argentina from a few years ago.

Fun fact. Back when I was a lad of 11 years old, the Jazz album that this song came from included an extra. It was a poster of a nude, female bicycle race. Hundreds of nude women on bikes, hence the line "Get on your bikes and ride" in this song that the person got wrong in the video.

That song can reduce me to tears sometimes. Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. There are a few bands out there that can play any style, anyway, that they need or want to. Queen was one of those very few. They could rock hard, they could play blues and jazz even a bit country. They could go almost classical. Pure talent from these guys.
I feel I should tell you that Freddie was more of a fan of boys bottoms, but it was the 70s so.... I love your innocence! Keep on keeping on Joey!

Queen suggestions - Stone Cold Crazy, Sheer Heart Attack, In the Lap of the Gods (revisited) , The Millionaires Waltz, Innuendo, Cool Cat (written around the Bowie time, with insane Freddie vocals) or if you want to go REALLY obscure check out Freddie Mercury as Larry Lurex covering 'I can hear music' which uses the Phil Spector Wall of Sound OR Freddie as Larry Lurex singing Goin' Back. But my ultimate choice for you would probably be Mother Love which is the last song Freddie actually sung before he died, beautifully haunting. He was feeling unwell and promised to go back to the studio and finish it but he didn't, so Brian May sang the last verse. There's a sound clip montage at the end of Queen and Freddie moments, and I think it really sums up Freddie. The vocals are incredible, the voice of a dying man who really did it all and lived his life to the fullest.
I find it hard to believe that songs of these caliber could go unheard by anyone. They’re in every aspect of movies and tv.
I got goose bumps listening to this again and watching you enjoying it for the first time. Music is the best for bringing back great memories.

This was actually a song written by Brian May, the guitarist. He also wrote *and sung* probably my favorite Queen song, '39. It's one of their lesser known ones but it's something that could only have come from someone like May. It's a sci-fi song centering around time dilation.
Brian May put his PhD in astrophysics on hold for ~30 years to become an international rockstar before going back and completing his doctorate. He's kinda a personal hero of mine.
To be honest, the first time I heard it, I was captivated by the chorus. It took actually reading the lyrics before it finally clicked what the song was really about.

Fat Bottomed Girls was actually part of a double A-side single which also featured Bicycle Race. Both songs actually mention the other song. Toward the end of Fat Bottomed Girls, Freddie yells "Get on your bikes and ride!" Also in Bicycle Race, in one of the later verses/choruses Freddie also says "Fat bottomed girls, they'll be riding today, so look out for those beauties oh yeah!"
The original music video of Bicycle Race actually featured snippets of uncensored naked women (60 of them apparently) riding bicycles around Wimbledon Stadium although not too much focus on their not too fat bottoms, lol. That would be quite a reaction. I think that video is age-restricted on the tube.

Do FLASH by Queen from the 1980 cult movie Flash Gordon!!! It's insanely good and so catchy. You ever see that movie? You should if you haven't. Imagine a big budget, campy visual feast with QUEEN doing the music!!! It was their first and best movie score. They did 2 in all. There IS a video for it with Queen performing. All the 80's kids grew up on this. Magical!!!
