Can't thank you enough for this video, I have searched hundreds and yours is the BEST by far...thank you SOOOO much!!!
So sorry you received hate mail when you're just trying to help people. You're doing us a great service. Thank you!
@@joghog I am trying to help. Warren Buffet would not accept this offer.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video.
I too can't thank you enough for these videos and the information around these offers. You are an unbiased source of truth. I have share with almost all of my peers and associates.
Im a probationary employee... I took it. Waiting OPM
Probationary also.. I don't think I will survive this with only being in for 2 months. I am strongly considering this but crushed over having to even consider this.
@@sammieseoul5544 I am freshly new. I've been only a week. Lose lose situation for us.
Same boat, just going to roll the dice and see if I can survive the next 5 months
I don't think you had to take the Buyout (Deferred Resignation). Probationary employees that have poor performance may be targeted, but that is not now, but later.
@@sammieseoul5544I would stay put. There will likely be A LOT of litigation about the legality of any and all of this. They have less power than they are portraying and throwing outrageous shi* out to see what sticks. Wait it out-time is on your side-I’m guessing your not pushing 80 and required to retire in three years😂
Thank you for these videos. They have been very useful.
Another fantastic video. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and thoughts on this sensitive topic. You are providing a great service to all Feds.
Like a lot of my TH-cam video knowledge / opinions, I stumbled (random AI driven feed) upon this presentation. It is really well done ❤. Your thoughtfulness (analysis & considerations) and delivery are simply excellent. Thank you 😊 very much!

Great information and I share all Profeds videos with my colleagues and they love these podcasts!
Retirement….take the money and run! Go have fun! Life is too short!
Thank you for the information provided based on what OPM is telling you.
I think a lot of concern of the legitimacy of the program is the lack of leadership buy in. Everything is coming out faceless. No leaders in my org (HHS) have shown support. Everything comes from departments, not people.
When there is downsizing in the private sector and I went through 2 of them during my career, there wasn't much detail about it. It was described by my managers and that was it. These were 2 fortune 500 companies and they treated me with respect and dignity. Not a stack of memos or FAQ. The concerns stems mostly, from what I hear is the culture that is embedded in government bureaucracy that mostly people in government are used to. By the way, I retired from Treasury 5 years ago. I believe that even when there are legitimate concerns as humans, the gov will make good on their word however, vague the announcement might seem to be. Also, given the way it works in federal government, even if the CR expires, there will be another and they will get paid. My son is currently working at Treasury as well, but not panicking like many. I also went through 2 shutdowns and bottom line is you will get paid.....I hope take advantage one way or another of the proposed new work culture at the fed level. All the best to everyone....
Thank you - I’m considering this offer with a letter from my agency listing the the terms in writing.
Did you receive last night’s email from OPM? Please read Q&As - you must first accept offer, and then you’ll get specifics from your agency.
@ no, I didn’t see a new letter yet.
@@mconnors211 What happen if I don't agree with the the specifics ? Agency have the power to release you once you hit the resign?
@@mikeb1336 Everything I read or saw seem to support this statement in FAQ.
Can I change my mind after resigning?
You can request to rescind your resignation, but approval is not guaranteed as agencies will move quickly to reassign or consolidate positions.
This is just my theory based on general understanding of government authority and bargaining protections etc.
1. People will still be considered employed until Sept 30th which means they will be entitled to a paycheck, so budgeting decisions can't exclude these "deferred" resignations.
2. Our employer has the right to assign work, meaning they also have the right to NOT assign work. As the embodiment of the executive branch, the president is ultimately our employer, which means he has the authority to not assign work to people who accept deferred resignation.
Now all that being said... most people I work with (at the IRS) don't really have a lot of job skills that would translate well into the private sector, so I don't think many people are taking this offer. I imagine this is largely true across the board. Many IRS employees have very specific job responsibilities and understand how to use very specific computer systems or are familiar with specific information on government forms, and none of that translates into a similar paying job in the private sector.
The tax payer is your employer. The president is not
where did you get the "As the embodiment of the executive branch, the president is ultimately our employer?" Trump works for the government just like everyone else.
@@royharper2003 The executive branch in the constitution is made up of one person. The president. Everything else that the executive branch does is based on his authority.
It's literally the first sentence in article 2 of the constitution:
"The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America."
@ Well it's a good thing that Article II of the Constitution also outlines the process of removing one from office.
My EPP, TSP and GRB Platform are accessible from home once you get set up with your non-government Email.
I'm 5 years away from retirement..so this offer is a little too early for me to consider it. Another thing...will these agencies just do away with these positions? Are they loosing funding for these positions? A person could take this offer, and then in Oct, that agency could hire against that position once again. That's what no one is talking about.
Should cover those of us that retired within the last year. Safe to say most of us would've waited a few months to take advantage of this offer, had we known anything like this was forthcoming.
court case from 1990 in which the supreme court ruled that employees are not entitled to receive benefits/pay due to false information provided from OPM. They said that "no money can be paid from the treasury unless specifically authorized by a statute." There has been no authorized statute for this deferred resignation offer.
This is so disturbing that they would lie to and con tens of thousands of employees? We are going to have never-ending lawsuits
OPM v. Richmond, 496 U.S. 414 (1990)
Lets see… who’s in office? Not hard folks… if it sounds to good to be true… it often is.
Well with a covicted felo as president it is hard to believe he would disobey laws.
Musk did the same thing, including the “Fork in the Road “ title when he bought Twitter. Many employees didn’t get any severance, even though it was promised.
Very helpful video
It was a total of 10 days to respond to OPM. Jan 28 - Feb 6. Still not enough time.
It's enough time for those who know what they want and for those who know what they don't want. It confusing for those that are already confused
@@leannladd3216 I was responding to the host when she said 7 days.

What do you think about the bill on the floor to do away with FERS retirement benefits like the FERS supplimental, healty insurance and calculation based on high 5 versus the high 3? If it passes in March how do you think it woupd apply to those who take the retire/resign deal?
Hi. Has this been proposed as a bill?
@techbranchsm I heard something about this, too. I remember it as Trump wanting to stop the FERS Supplemental payments, giving employees vouchers for health insurance (whatever that means), calculating retirement based on average high-5 instead of high-3 salaries, & increasing employees' portion of funding their pension from 0.8% or 3.1% (depending on when one was hired) to 4.4% for all employees.

Great video, answered many viewer questions. I retired from DoD 5 weeks ago and heard that senior management thought they would be exempt, but are being forced to accept this offer and also are canceling all telework next month. Only question now is how long employees must work before vacation and whether supervisors are eligible and if so they may have to stay on extra few months.
what do you mean by being "forced?"
I believe you said postal service was not included. That is inaccurate, got my packet last week.
If the federal government kept running like it did with all the wasteful spending, those of us in the federal workforce would eventually face RIFs, reduction in pay and benefits, or both! No business can be ran recklessly like the government. And this has nothing to do with who you voted for, it's something that had to be done...eventually. Like the Post Office, we are broke!
I’m not a federal worker, but worked in snivel…. I mean civil service for 30 years. Here’s my take….
Way too much ambiguity in the offer. I wouldn’t take it.
If they want to reduce the work force, offer 5 years of time or age towards retirement and a reasonable severance package, and a bunch of older and generally higher paid workers will retire. They also take with them a lot of experience and some bad habits.
Thanks for the videos!
What happen if I don't agree with the the specifics ? Agency have the power to release you once you hit the resign? plus once you resign, are you able to rescind it or that up to the agency.
I am stuck
I cannot take advantage of the deferred resignation
Or VERA
My Agency has exempted most of its employees from these early out programs
One of my questions is which organizations are considered “national security”? I’m a DoD employee but there are individuals that have taken the offer at my office
wondering the same...my deputy says our ORG doesn't know the answer either.
I’m DoD, and my agency confirmed the offer applied to us civilians
I’m also DOD/USN my Exec Director made it clear that we are eligible
How can I rescind my OPM delayed resignation?
Hello, I have been hearing different scenarios. Someone said that during those months of no work and getting paid is only 58% of your pay not 100%? Is this true?
If employees trusted the offer as valid, many more would take it. People are just making up stories and not even learning. Really a shame. It is a very generous offer.
I have put in my papers to retire on 2/28. But I heard that there's a plan to change the pension calculation to be based on the last 5 years of service instead of the current 3 years basis. Is that really a possibility? How do I trade that off against the extra 7 months of pay?
My parents were federal employees, and I retired from the FAA after 26+ years. There is no such thing as deferred resignation. An email is NOT an official offer. If you resign by February 6th .. voluntarily .. you are on your own.
Id like to see what this would look like on an SF-50.
I’ll book mark this message and come back to it on sept 30 after these took place to see if you still say there is no such thing as deferred resignation. I find such levels of denials fascinating and look forward to coming back to this and see what you’re saying
Does this deferred resignation program will it applies to the federal-term employees?
Great video. Thanks. Where is eOPF located?
Many of the points in this video are speculation. There is nothing in the provided information to support the assumptions.
Hi, I like to be completely clear on my understanding after watching your video, OPM came out with additional FAQ this weekend regarding employee eligible to retire under VERA, however my understanding is VERA needs to be OFFER to each employee by each agency, How do I know if my agency has this authority ? I have not seen any communication from my agency regarding VERA. All communication from local agency is regarding telework.
OPM grants VERA to the agencies.
@redtressartistrybyladonisa9839 so I don't need to hear from local agency regarding VERA offer. I can accept the Defer resignation, and if I meet the age and year requirement for VERA, then my agency will have no choice but to process my VERA?
@@redtressartistrybyladonisa9839 my GRB Platform has not open the ability to submit a VERA even though I have 27 years and if VERA is truly authorized why is the platform not open to use? Other regular retirement eligible employeesGRB Platform is open for them to submit for retirement. Things are not adding up.
@@kentyen4246 I have not seen that proof.
I guess my question is I have over 20 years in the Govt however I am not age eligible can I still do the retirement aspect and retire later?
We have been locked out of eOPM tried to log in today and it didn't recognize any of my information
I had that problem Friday. I tried to reset my password online, but got an email telling me to call because only a real person could help. Of course, I got a recording saying try back later. Then, I saw this weekend that Musk and his sux college aged engineers have taken control of SSA, OPM, GSA, and the Treasury Dept.

Can u talk about the deferred resignation/early retirement when OPM granted the agency VERA but the agency has not sent guidance by Feb.6.
Feels like this didn't touch on the legitimacy of the offer. Can OPM extend and enforce this? That's the big question. Is it legal. Feel kinda bait and switched with the title. I appreciate outlining what the offer is but I still have no idea if it's legitimate
This is so scary. I retired in 2020 and feel sorry for those affected negatively by this administration.
BUT if you voted for this administration, then you are getting what you supported.
We all elected him, those who voted for Trump, those that voted for no one and those that voted for Harris but failed to turn out more voters. He's doing what he promised, crazy as it feels in practice.
Just get back to the office and work. No problem. Abusers ruined telework for the rest.
What goes around comes around. Remember COVID?????
Like it or not, the government is too big and we would eventually have to cut the force. Many were in jobs that were invented during Covid and it's costing us taxpayers way too much! We can't fund Social Security, so how the hell do you think we can keep spending?

Can I take up consultant position with the same agency if I accept this offer ?
I am 61 with 38 years of federal service. I already qualify for full retirement but I was waiting til 62 to retire. I want to do this but not clear if I can extend til December. I considered this offer but My agency sent an email that we are not eligible because our Agency is "national security" well what I do is not national security, it its compensations related for the general public, not the govrnment. makes no sense..
If anyone has 100’s of hours of sick leaves in addition to the regular vacation hours, are they going to compensate the sick days under this deferred resignation program?

If anyone is not 57 or 62 years of age yet but worked in federal Job as full time for more than 5 years, are they going to lose the pension payment at age 62 under this deferred registration program?
No you are supposed to be vested. Downside is your annuity will be based on your last three years and so the amount will be subject to inflation. Also you have to wait until 62 to collect the annuity
I Understand the inflation issues. My main question is, if we will lose the delayed pension at 62 even after working at Federal job for 5 plus years if we take this offer.
@ if you work five years you are vested. You resign and then apply for deferred retirement at 62
👌
The details are what protects federal employees, and the speed with which they are trying this is suspect. Take this offer, if you’d like, based on your circumstances. Personally, I’m career and I’ve no interest in taking this offer (if you can call it that).
See OPM v. Richmond, 496 U.S. 414 (1990). Richmond lost this case because government agents are not liable for disseminating incorrect information. In this case, if the money never arrives, you likely have no recourse.
Hardly related. OPM employee gave one person bad advice. Not 2 million employees and a policy.
@jimdale3188 Acknowledged, there are other cases, and the upcoming CR in March has an impact on some considering the deal.
i'm in part time status, 32 hrs/week. i got the fork email, but it says 'full time'. can i still resign?
Not with benefits - only FT employees
All you gotta do is pledge loyalty to Trump
I only hear about benefits being paid through Sept 30. What about continuing FEHB if you retire, because if you do this with a deferred "resignation", is that the catch? Are you still eligible AFTER Sept 30?
I saw something about this that came out today in a FAQ from OPM. Still lots of missing info, but it's leaning toward letting you retire if it's before 31 Dec 2025.
8 minutes in...still no facts. Just "we had such a big response".
Unorthodox or incompetent and inept?
Fantastic program. My wife had scheduled her retirement for 4 April. Now she can stop working 6 Feb, recd full pay until 30 Sept then retire & collect pension. TY Pres Trump!
Thanks for you input Ivan!
Good luck with that!
Says nothing about stop working Feb 6th. Just because IT MAY seem to help you, it is harming millions of people. Thank you Trump
@ when you are placed on Administrative Leave is up to your Agency however they are encouraged to act on it asap. The only people hurt will be the ones who pass on the program and end up in a RIF. They get nothing but thats not the fault of this program, it’s the risk they took by passing on the program.
