    I have searching for almost a year trying to find a picture or diagram of how these linkages should be setup. Thank you so very much!! You just saved me the money of going out and buying a new rototiller for the garden!!

    Thank you!! We’ve had our edger for at least 15 years, and I didn’t pay enough attention to the springs and where they went. After looking at a ton of incorrect diagrams and videos, I finally came across yours with the exact same setup. The small spring that was missing in your video was incorrectly connected on ours, and your video helped us get it sorted. Thanks again!!!

    Thank you your video saved me too even though my engine isn’t exactly the same as yours. It was enough information to get the tiny spring in the right spot. Mine has a very thin, aluminum air vane and the tab where the wire goes through was bent 90° from the way it should be. With your video I was able to get the spring in the right spot and bend that tab back. I would’ve been completely screwed without your video. Thank you so much.

    Nice video, clearly shows linkage parts except the actual throttle cable connection which is my issue. I can clearly see the throttle cable connection and function however, I think it's slipping making my mower power inefficient. I can't quite tell if the very tip of the cable broke or if the 'z' bend is not sufficient or if the plastic piece where the cable is inserted has word too much. Seems the cable, at maximum power slides through the connection versus moving connection to full open. Any thoughts or can you show the throttle cable connection? Thanks!

    Informative video, thanks.
    I have same engine on my lawn edger.
    It runs and starts great, shuts off etc.
    My issue is the throttle speed lever. As engine vibrates the lever moves from high to middle. I have to continuously push it up to complete lawn edge. I took it apart, and saw only 1 spring and assumed i was missing one.
    Your video shows only one also so i guess mine is correct. Any ideas on tightening that or to get lever to stay high? Its not a bolt, sort of a rivet. Nothing to tighten
    Thanks

    • @RealManSkills
      @RealManSkills  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They can be difficult sometimes. Sometimes there is a set screw on the pump that presses on the shaft. You will need to remove the set screw. Other times, it's just rusted on. On our McClane edger there's a throttle cable hooked to one of the holes in that throttle lever and the throttle is controlled up by the hand grips. It keeps the throttle in the same position until you change it. Just get a universal throttle control lever with cable and go that route or there might be a way to tighten the small factory throttle lever down by the engine but I'm not sure how you would go about it.

      This video was about showing the linkage. I am sure that I got it running and back to the owner working just fine. This was five years ago, I can't say that I remember much about what else I had to do to tune the carb. Thanks for watching.

      Sure, you can just disconnect the linkage, or take the whole linkage and blade off.

    • @RealManSkills
      @RealManSkills  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no "entire" kit for this engine. You will have to buy the parts individually. I include the parts numbers in the video. You can also do an internet search for the engine model number (also in the video) and you will find a lot of results for parts.

But mine was hand operated where your choke and throttle are and down below it had another setup. Long story short. Mine is diff but exactly the same. I want the set up on this with the throt&choke switches being able to have the line directly in them thete instead pf below the feul tank. I appreciate the input and thank u man. I know this is an old video but what did this go on? I just purchased a McLane edger with this motor on it and it is not starting. I have to assume the throttle lever engages the speed lever down at the controls.

    • @RealManSkills
      @RealManSkills  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This came off of a McLane edger. I updated the edger with a 5HP Briggs. (same style) When I updated with the 5HP, I didn't connect the cables. I just used the throttle controls on the engine.

      So I finally had time to work on this edger 101-3.5RP-7 to be exact. The model # on this Brigg is 91202 1231 E1. I have to assume the last part of the number is from the "type" stamped on the plate. Just researching the web leads me to that. Hope I am right lol. Anyways, I believe I need to replace the whole carb on mine. I tried cleaning it but it's in bad shape and I'd rather just replace the whole piece. Problem is, I can't find any parts for this with the model number I have. Can you give me some direction to help me find a new crab?
