      good movie but had a lot of unnecessary fluff (which you've pointed out in this vid). That chase while visually cool when it mixes pixel art and real life was just head scratching. Along w/ the spy stuff. It was kinda laughably, really. and the ending kinda felt like Rocky IV, except instead of ending the cold war, it was Tetris.

      that explains why some things are "wrong". They had to move them over and in doing so, created gaps to avoid completing a line. 😆

    The fact that Hank got Alexey's game popular around the world, and still gave him his share of the money/profits/royalties from it. Proved he trusted him since the moment they met. Even helping Alexey & his family come to live in America, thats friendship. Not only that, they founded the company of Tetris and to this day they still run it, along with Hanks daughter. That's what I call family. Like the old saying, "good friends are hard to come by," especially those that we trust and consider family.

      I mostly agree. One made up event annoyed me greatly though: the scene where the Russian embassy agents in Japan threaten the wife and (implicitly) their daughters. Such a juvenile and unnecessary addition; the implausibility of them acting this way in a non-aligned country took me out of the film.
      Other details diminished the movie somewhat too, such as the in your face KGB agent bribery subplot. I would have preferred a more subtle approach, but I get that the film was also made for youngsters who may not have a grasp about how things worked in the Soviet Union during this time period.
      I'm all for pixelated, impossible car chases however as they don't pretend to be truthful to real life events, just fun. Or for combining events that happened separately in one scene or combining several characters into one; that's necessary for an efficient narrative and we all understand the language of cinema. All in all, a very enjoyable movie anyway.

    Little fact, the Commodore 64 version of Tetris had a 25 minute soundtrack by Wally Beben who was a friend of mine. I heard that soundtrack before the thousands who played the game and almost cried, beautiful evocative piece. I also met Alexei Pajitnov at the Computer games show in London in 1987 at the Mirrorsoft stand, very intelligent man. LOVE Tetris.

    During my childhood in the early 90s, I used to hang at my local supermarket's video game section and occasionally got to demo Tetris on Famicom. That was my first actual video game experience. I absolutely love it! I never got to experience it on a Game Boy but later in the mid 90s, I got this bootleg handheld device called 'Brick Game'. Ah, those were the days.
    I just finished the movie a while ago and it's one of the best movies I've ever watched in my life. And I can't get over Sofia Lebedeva, the actress who played Sasha. Absolute gorgeous!

    Not only did the car chase not happen in real life, it didn't even happen on set. It's entirely CGI, except for the Lada leaving Elorg and everyone arriving at the airport. I was hiding just off camera to come in and clean the spark plugs after every take!

    I hate innacuracies in movies like this. If it didn't happen, why put it in? Screw the emotional response, I want fact, not hollywood in these types of movies. Everytime a biopic comes out I go straight to these videos before even watching it lol

    • @DefiantMacho
      @DefiantMacho ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. However, the problem with so called "Based on a true story" movies is that movie studios are looking to make money from their products. They have learned the hard way that a slow movie won't get them $$$ so, if they feel the story doesn't have sufficient emotional impact or action to accentuate the issue and/or thrills movie goers look for, they will add some or even exaggerate things. This is true of virtually all movies of this kind.

    I dont care about the car chase scene, we can have fun!. I knew it was fake of course. But the heroisim, the inteligence and patriotisim were the highlights of the movie. Humans are really amazing and also horrible at the same time. I loved the movie.

    Has nobody making this "production" never heard about Robert Stein? Who the F is Hank? He is a invented person or someone that came into the story when it was to be ported to consoles?

    • @TECH097
      @TECH097 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nono, Henk Rogers was the Game Developer located in Japan that bought the Console Rights to Japanese Game Consoles from Mirrorsoft, led by the Maxwells, who bought the rights from Robert Stein.
      Henk was also the guy who went to Russia when he smelled something fishy with why he couldn't get the rights for Handheld Tetris. Doing that revealed Stein was taking creative liberties with the contract and encouraged Head of Elorg (The Owners of Tetris), Nikolai Belilov to confront him and Kevin Maxwell, later on helping Nintendo secure the rights because he was fed up with not getting royalties from Stein.
      Finally, Henk became CLOSE friends with Alexy Pajitnov, Tetris' creator, and co-founded The Tetris Group with him so Elorg could only do Tetris related business through the two of them. Alexy finally got paid for his game thanks to Henk and later they'd have all the rights to Tetris sold to them so they'd co-own the game for decades.

    It's ludicrous and infuriating at the same time how the wife who lives all her life in Japan speaks way better English than professional "diplomats" (who were speaking English to a Japanese person in Japan, BTW) while the daughter speaks Japanese only

      I don't get what you're trying to say. Normally, this would just add up to what I said (since back then the embassy personnel would just be more professional and general people would just speak and understand less foreign languages), but you nevertheless seem to contradict me in some incomprehensible way so it's probably not the case. I would appreciate it if you elaborated on your point, and also why you started with "Again"
