very clever idea! I think future runners of Owner Mode would have to disable the team relocation function in League Settings to avoid this sort of thing happening. Also calling it the Curse of Billy Beane b/c you didn't win a single pennant in Oakland.
Thanks! The league evolution was fun in general. Both leagues ended up scrapping the DH too. The relocations carried some unintended consequences. Billy Beane must be relieved that it wasn’t just his curse!
Thank you! It’s fun running experiments and opening up different ways to play. Fortunately, I had some great artwork to choose from because that’s not a strength of mine! It also helps that the OOTP menus are eye-appealing. The plain black background in the OOTP 25 screenshots has me a bit nervous.
Friggin cool challenge. I think you tried to keep cash in the +, thats why no $350 Mill budget. 2031, 44, 53, 54, losing logo heartbreaking.... back to the bottom... Did Portland help increase Market/fan interest? Were you allowed to increase ticket prices? Or did you not do that. OOTP 24 seems much harder to win than previous versions. I had 111 win teams loaded with monsters that would often lose to terrible teams in the postseason. I'm going to try this.
Thanks! Yes, Portland was a bigger market which drove a higher annual revenue. I did not allow myself to change ticket prices, but I could see that being a realistic tweak. I feel like each edition of OOTP gets easier. The AI gets better, but the increasing complexity of the game outpaces it. I wouldn’t give the AI credit for beating your juggernaut in a short series; that’s just bad luck.
@@baseballdreamland easier in what way? I think winning the world series was about average compared to OOTP 21 the last one I had. But monster teams and 21 I'd win 130 plus games, whereas in 24 it's hard to win 110 games unless all 26 players are the best of the best
@@baseballdreamland also do you know how to change city location without the system doing it for you? I think it'd be cool to be able to go up the owner and say we should move to a different market, or just be able to do it
I found it easy to assemble a dominant organization very quickly. Being able to assemble a 110-win team by just “going through the motions” breaks the immersion for me.
It won’t be right away, but I’ll plan on another one in the future. Want to make sure it’s different in some way. Someone brought up doing a historical version, which could be fun and different.
This is super fun. I think Oakland was cursed like Queens, but I still love the outcome. Maybe if you do another one, go back in time or, even more wild, do a historical save where you randomize every team's year. AKA the 1931 Yankees, the 2004 Red Sox, it could put a real fun spin on it.

This is great! Thanks for posting it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great episode! I LOVE the background graphics! Awesome story telling and scenario setup as usual.

Hahaha… as an As fan, that was a lot of fun.
It’s an eventful time to be an A’s fan; I imagine felt differently based on where you live. Glad the story could bring some levity!
This was good, I agree you're a talented narrator.
Thank you! This was a interesting story to put together with the game duration being what it was.
@@baseballdreamland Yes you were tested, I'm glad you lived a healthy lifestyle as an owner.
That was fun, would like to see you run this back with a a different team.
Interesting. Are you thinking a big budget team next time?
Really entertaining stuff, Rick. I'm so happy you get to die a champion!!
Thanks Mike! Does this make you want to get back into OOTP? :)
I actually DID get OOTP 25 hahaha
@@mikeweber5739 nice! Are you doing Perfect Team?
@@baseballdreamland I've never done that mode before
Great Idea
Thanks Connor! Hoping to make more ideas into OOTP alternate realities.
Sounds about right for irl A's. 😂
At least we delayed the move…
@@baseballdreamland true! And Portland at that! Haha!
Let's go Barracudas!
2043 World Series Champions! Also won 118 games the following season.

You can change the city and team name in the Team Settings (commish mode might have to be on).
Cool Challenge. Could you set Budget to $350,000,000 to make you win quicker?
Usually not. The rule was if I run out of cash, I instantly lose the challenge. Most of the time, a budget that large would’ve sunk me.
Please do another one with a different team

you had to relocate. the ballpark collapsed during the offseason.
Hah! I wish I had thought of that rationale for the video.

Good idea! Maybe I can take over an expansion team like the Expos or something. Or maybe do the Senators?
@@baseballdreamland i like that idea a lot!!
Do the Expos, and the 1962 Mets!
I’m thinking maybe Padres or Brewers since they still don’t have a ring IRL?
