I don’t know if I would agree that this season has no theme. I got the strong sense that the intended theme of this whole season was expectations and their subversions. The idea of “do not assume you know anything.” I know that the idea that you should be prepared for an unexpected twist has become normal as the show has gone on, but the first four seasons did follow a pretty standard pattern. Yes, they introduced tribe swaps in Africa, but the fake merge was definitely the biggest twist we had had up until this point. Not to mention the initial fake battle of the sexes twist, followed by the actual schoolyard draft twist. Jeff literally says right at the start “that assumption of course would be wrong,” and then at the real merge he says “finally an assumption that is correct.” This was clearly meant to be a throughline in the season. That’s just my take, tho. Love your content. Keep up the good work.
I feel like Ken Stafford is an underrated player who just got screwed due to being in the minority. He had control of Sook Jai until the merge where he had a 5-3 minority.

Todd has struggled with alcoholism for a long time since his win, I think he’s getting a lot better now but that’s a liability to production to put him in such a stressful position that might cause relapse. JT made huge blunders in his last two seasons and to a casual fan isn’t memorable/likable enough to warrant him over let’s say Ben. Cochran prolly won’t ever play again because he has had one of the greatest two season arcs of all time, from a scrawny flipper to a strategic mastermind, and a player like Adam or Nick was newer and more wanting to play. Brian has basically been blacklisted from production for some scandal I’m not too keyed in on. I’m sure google has the answers though. Hope this helped.
@jack crowley thank you so much that definitely helped. i knew abt todd’s problem i just figured since that was over ten years ago it might have changed, and since he was a strategic mastermind i have always wanted him to come back
@@zaxbysliga7785 The scandal that Brian got involved in was that at first one of the producers found out he worked in a couple of adult films, which wasn't a big deal at first, but his stone-cold behavior disturbed Jeff and the producers. Years later Brian is arrested for shooting a puppy with a bow (it survived the attack), and he struck his wife for calling the police and even attempted to make a run for it, but was caught in the end. So yeah, CBS definitely doesn't want him back due to their disgust towards the guy. However, Brian completely changed his life and now has a new family, which has made him a much better person, but he's not coming back to Survivor.
I both hated and loved the "attack zone" reward challenge in ep 3. The one team breaking the rules every second, then a couple of them whining about losing.
I think one of the major reasons this season was a major fail was because of the execution of the new twists. When the oldest players got to pick their own tribes, Jan kept picking all the older people which was really strange. Usually, you want to include some younger and stronger people. As a result, the season mostly became young vs old which proved to be not fun to watch. When the mutiny was introduced... no one took it. Lame! Oh yeah, and we already know what happened with the fake merge. That was just dumb.
Say whatever you want about Brian but he was wise enough to bring Clay instead of Jan. He did what Colby should have done in Survivor Australian Outback.
Ur tied for my fav Survivor TH-camr,keep up da AWESOME work, can’t wait for da Amazon Stories and reviews, btw I say do Rob Cesternino and Matt, cause Jenna I HATED as a winner,COMPLETELY ruined da Season for me
I really did not like brian and clay as the runner up and winner since i don't like clay attitude at the final stage and brian strategy was good but the betrayal and they way he describe jan as disposable got me annoyed and by his background it seems to me he does not need the 1 million dollar but actually they could have a chance if jan and helen work together to vote one person off and get into a tie which have a chance to get either brian or clay off but what i really like about helen is she remind me of tammy from marquesas and susan from borneo the speech they given really gave me similar vibes lmao
Jake is voted out, becoming the last of his tribe to be so. Water is wet. "Next time on survivor, CHEWY GAHN TURNS AGAINST EACH OTHER! A TWELTH PERSON IS VOTED OUT, DETERMINING THE FINAL 4!!" Water is wet. Good winner = SHIT season. Making the RECRAP episode happen on its own instead of with that final 6 episode is the stupidest thing ever. DO NOT WATCH THE MIDDLE OF THIS SEASON IF YOU DID NOT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think production is to blame for portraying the cast so negatively. I would argue that they had a much more likeable cast had they chosen to edit it that way. They focused on the negative comments made by players in hopes of better ratings.
I'm not gonna lie, even though a lot of people say that Thailand is the worst season of the show and what not, I don't hate it. I am more so indifferent towards it. There are honestly a lot of funny moments throughout the season that a lot of people don't give credit to, however there isn't really anyone in the cast you can fully root for as the most likable people on the season aren't really even like extremely likable or anything plus while the winner plays a great game, he is a bit uhh... sociopathic let's just say. It is probably the worst of the 5 seasons, although I honestly don't think its that far behind Australian Outback as that season I find to be massively overrated.
Comparing to previous seasons they improved the challenges which are better and more interesting. But this is only one clear advantage.. that's not a lot ;) Ok, the location was also nice. It became really boring after they made fake marge and drag it fot too many episodes. I also didn't like how much time they spend on family visiting, especially fact that family took part in Immunity Challenge. I agree that the cast wasn't great. But there was Brian and he stole the show! And now I've got the question... you gave him 7/10 the same as Ethan, and 2 points lower than Tina? Are you sure? ;) This is impossible :)
I've been watching through the seasons in order and I just finished watching Thailand. Honestly I prefer Thailand over Africa. If i were to rank the seasons you reviewed thus far, I'd order them the following from worst to best: Africa, Thailand, Outback, Borneo (Outback and Borneo could honestly go either way) Marquesas
they kind of did have a theme with the oldest making the decisions this wasnt really that great of a season brian heidik did play a very dominant game however hes kind of a scumbag as a person
This was so bad only Shii Ann was on All Stars and that was only because production want someone the first seven season each! But she did go onto become at memorable for clutch immunity win and her stupid stupid people line!
Average meh season but with a great winner. If Clay won I would’ve been pissed. He coasted hard and did nothing. Also I knew the next season they will do Boys vs Girls or change something after that BIG Incident of sexual harassment lol law suits and broken family might’ve happen. Def needed a cool period. My two cent is she was also coming on to him too so they were both at fault. She knew and played the victim card hard. Ted got caught and try to back off cuz if she didn’t say anything he most likely wouldn’t stop. She was also wrong thinking it’s was okay to be fun like that and guess what happen it went too far like BiG sUrPriSe it just humans being humans
Sook jai was screwed at the attack zone challenge the black lines should have counted as in the attack zone, 100%, they lost every challenge after that, but they were stupid to vote off robb he was a huge challenge advantage for them. Also shi Ann never should have returned did nothing but be a bottom feeder annoying premerge boot, shis like a Kmart piegee, and piegee was a villian in her season too.
Jan was so annoying, I don't know how she made it so far. I couldn't stand Jake's completely tone deaf campaigning, wish he had gotten voted out much earlier so we didn't have to listen to him scramble. The highlight of the season was Robb choking out Clay.

"Next time on survivor, CHEWY GAHN TURNS AGAINST EACH OTHER! A TWELTH PERSON IS VOTED OUT, DETERMINING THE FINAL 4!!"
Water is wet.
Erin, Stephanie, Ken , penny and jed deserved top 5 , Brian worst winner, AND clay worst runner up
I'm not gonna lie, even though a lot of people say that Thailand is the worst season of the show and what not, I don't hate it.
Other than Africa, this may be my favorite of the first five seasons despite having my least favorite winner so far 😂
If i were to rank the seasons you reviewed thus far, I'd order them the following from worst to best: Africa, Thailand, Outback, Borneo (Outback and Borneo could honestly go either way) Marquesas
thailand’s easily the worst season for me, the majority alliance that ran the post merge was so boring and unlikeable i barley wanted to watch
🌹🌹
Unpopular opinionI still like this better than survivor game changers .
they kind of did have a theme with the oldest making the decisions this wasnt really that great of a season brian heidik did play a very dominant game however hes kind of a scumbag as a person
Brian is unjustifiably hated.
This was so bad only Shii Ann was on All Stars and that was only because production want someone the first seven season each! But she did go onto become at memorable for clutch immunity win and her stupid stupid people line!
Definitely one of my least favorite seasons
Jan got on my nerves! She was so obnoxious for no reason. A lot of the cast was irritating this season.
Hey its the worst season period no cap
