Hey you can have a preview of the aperture and shooter speed settings in manual mode, but the camera doesn't show it by default. What you need to do is go to the screen 7 of the Custom menu, assign Preview function to whichever fiscal or virtual buttons and there you go, you can now switch between Aperture/Shooter speed. or both modes preview by pressing the button assigned. Pretty much anything above the $600 price point mate, at $300 this is a packed beast for the low end market. Any full body non-compact would be up for the job given a large enough SD card. You could also rig them to record to SSD's too.

i need to get super close up macros of small amulets to get 1. the details of the amulet and 2. even closer microscopic views of the grains and textures of the sacred clay used within the amulets. Can this camera do that? What is the best for me under 1000$ to take pics of a fly's head for example?

Its 24-720 mm equivalent for optical zoom. Not 24-1000.

I'm an amateur looking for a compact camera for low light on a budget. Any help you can give I would be very grateful for as the event is happening in a few weeks and I need to purchase and get used to using it before then. It's a one in a lifetime gig, so this is extremely important to me. Also, I know you talk about phones but just so you know I don't own a mobile, so I cannot use one to take photographs or video. I eagerly await any help you can give!

I bought this camera last year but haven't really used it that much. You said in this video that it doesn't come with any kind of charger. I'm sure that I plugged mind into the mains at some stage to charge but I could be mistaken. As anyone else bought this camera that has had a mains charger included or do you have to plug it into the computer to charge?

Mains chargers are not expensive and they do charge faster than a computer. Having said that,my compuer is on most of the time I am at home so it is no big deal to leave it plug in and charging.
