For everyone wondering why the U-wing isn't in this video it's because I made and recorded this video before today and today was the first day that information was released - trust me I face palmed when I heard the news knowing my video about all rebel ships came out today lol... *sigh*
+Star Wars Explained Great video as always! A recommendation for more "ship" based videos would be videos covering all of the Capital Ships of the Republic, CIS, Empire, and Rebel Alliance. It would be very informative and awesome if you were to pursue projects such as those.
Love the Y-wing and I think it's very underated: more heavily armed and armored than MOST rebel/new republic vessels, it was also maneuverable enough to take on fighters in dogfights, although not as efficiently as other designs. I know Star Wars Battlefront 2 isn't exactly accurate with its depiction of vehicles, but I often used the Y-wing because it dealt more damage and could take more damage - and I could dogfight effectively.
The Y-wing is essentially the Star Wars equivalent to the Republic F-105 Thunderchief, with the X-wing more or less being the equal to either the F-4 Phantom II or F-16 (the A-wing is pretty much an F-5E Tiger II)
@@jeremydale4548 Game is Rogue Squadron, there's a passcode that you can enter to transform the V-Wing Airspeeder into a Buick convertible. Downside is, if you have to pause, it freezes the game.
Always makes me wonder how well a Star Wars pilot would contend against a real life fighter pilot in a dogfight. In a planet's atmosphere of course since jets aren't designed for space flight. Also cool to know the Rebellion used older fighters/bombers too.
I find it absolutely hilarious that the in universe ship designers seemingly decided on what letter would be in the name beforehand and then specifically crafted a ship to match that letter, regardless of how absurd it looked!
Legends fighters Imperial and Rebels alike should appear in the new trilogy. Don't get me wrong it was great seeing the X-wing again but I want to see new ships, not the old ones recycled. Loved the video man.
The Legacy of the Force series (the one where Jason goes bad) also makes reference to an Aleph-class starfighter, designed in the tail end of the Yuuzhan Vong War to go toe-to-toe with coralskippers. I think Han Solo flies one in one of the books, actually.
On the original X wing DOS game, my favorite fighter by far was the A-Wing. I could take out a star destroyer with one of those. Totally unrealistic in a cannon scenario, but all you had to do in the game was use your lasers to take out the shield generators, and then use concussion missles (a weaker version of proton torpedos) to weaken the star destroyer a little bit. Then you can just keep avoiding the turbo lasers and shooting the ship until it blew up eventually. They were simply the best playable ship in the game, even better than b-wings IMO.
Great video! Although I like the Clone Wars version of the Headhunter more, less bulky ;) I've noticed that this channel haven't covered that many planets which is one of my favorite topics. Wouldn't it be interesting to see the Canon vs. Legends version of e.g. Kessel or perhaps take a look att all the planets that are mentioned in the films, but never seen? Planets such as Dantooine and Corellia.
The Headhunter X-Wing prototype is similar to the Northrop F-17 prototype for the USN/USMC F-18 Hornet in the sense that the Headhunter is a small-scaled X-Wing, and the version piloted by Poe Dameron in the Force Awakens can be likened to the F-18E/F/G Super Hornet/Growler.
A squadron of CloakShape fighters was part of the New Republic fleet that hunted for Warlord Zsinj; however, due to age, these ships suffered badly during the battles with the warlord.
Question: If they use Arubesh in Star Wars as a langauge... why do they call the X-shaped fighter an "XWing" ? Or a Y shaped fighter a "Y wing" ? They don't use english letters ...... lol
+TCArmory Cause simple names made it easier for kids to tell parents what toy they wanted.......no honestly that was probably the reason remember the first two SW trilogies were aimed at children with the possible exception of episode 3 being aimed at teenagers.

i would like to see a light saber one, where you show the different sabers, and how their construction reflected the jedi/sith who used it, and how the design helped their fighting style. lukes saber, with that huge square button, seems clunky to me, but maybe it had an advantage?
I had the impression that the Rebel Alliance was rather pragmatic. They got their hands on a usable ship, they used it. Whoever had build or previously owned it was of no importance. Seeing imperial ships on the list is only logical. Very nice vid, by the way. Oh, and again, i heard before that the T-Wing should replace the A-Wing, but from what i know it was tested together with the A-Wing for the interceptor use and the rebels decided on the A-Wing. Which was one of their newest fighters anyway (only B-Wing being newer). Especially in Star Wars Alliance it shows clearly that the A-Wing is superior to the T-Wing in pretty much every aspect.

Actually, the mission that uses the V-Wing is a special epilogue mission that takes place 6 years after the Battle of Endor (10 ABY), so it was just a New Republic craft. While you can earn the right to use the V-Wing while replaying some previous missions, that's not part of the game's real storyline (as in the "canon" storyline for Legends).
It's unusual that an A-wing crashing into the Executor's bridge structure and subsequently destroying the super star destroyer was never mentioned when the A-Wing was discussed in this video.
I love the B-Wing. I had a Kenner toy of the Return of the Jedi B-Wing fighter when I was a kid, and it was AWESOME lol the little wings folded when it landed, with fully functional landing gear, and the cockpit always stayed straight up, like in ROTJ. I remember the Tie Fighters had a button for the laser sounds, and a thumb button to pop the, "wings," off, and the X-Wing S-Foils would open when you push the astromech's head down. But, of all the old Kenner toys, the B-Wing was always my personal favorite, with the T-47 Snowspeeder a close second. 👍
Thank you for posting this; the only way I would have info like this would be to buy books listing them, and I don't have the money or space for them. Nicely done!
I watched your video twice to make sure I didn't miss it then scrolled much of the comments to see if it was already addressed. I didn't see the Jedi Starfighter in there.
U-Wing of Rogue One was my Fav.
Now the Starchaser is in Star Wars: Resistance.
U-wing?
where is the u-wing?
Thank you for posting this; the only way I would have info like this would be to buy books listing them, and I don't have the money or space for them. Nicely done!
I had the LEGO Jek-14 stealth fighting which was a black E-wing. Miss that set it was so delicate it would break so easily.
What about the u wing
Is it just me, or does the R-41 look like a Maquis Raider.
Are there any new ones since this video was made/created?
Hold up..... So lengends had the same ships decades after rotj and people are complaining about ships in the sequel trilogy? Smfh
The Qwing is the best
You forgot the Qwing
Is it the A-wing that has an attachment for long rang travel?
Morgan Fordbam no, those were the Jedi starfighters
You forgot the Q-Wing
Q-wing is the best
Aren't the Tempest and Cutlass real planes?
*_hol up_*
I really like the T-65 X wing, it's such an iconic ship.
Why are the ships named after letters that Don't exist in starwars. In starwars they use auribish
I’ve always wondered that if they didn’t use actual English in Star Wars. Why did these vehicles always get English based names. (X wing, y wing..etc)
Why no u wing
This video was uploded before rouge one was released therefore there is no u wing
I watched your video twice to make sure I didn't miss it then scrolled much of the comments to see if it was already addressed. I didn't see the Jedi Starfighter in there. It was the ship piloted by Obi Wan when being chased by Jango Fett.
Love the channel btw
Also, please more info on the Jedi Interceptor!
Was it a variant of the A-wing? They look very similar in ways.
I think we all know the best star fighter here, the A-wing! why you ask? well lets not get into full detail! fast, cool, it can take down an executor class star destroyer...
