To the negative comment you received on here...Bill...I wish it was actually possible...to do an experiment...where they take the same exact child...and put it with 3 different kinds of parents...and grow up in 3 different kinds of atmospheres....and see how and what kind of person that child grows up into under 3 different kinds of scenarios. I am who I am today because of how I grew up. If I had had different parents with different views, political and religious, or if they had been poorer or richer, if I had lived in California instead of a farming town in Missouri...you can't argue that I wouldn't be a different person.
You are being formed into the adult you will be from the moment you are born. From your parents..the economics you are raised in, the teachers and schools you attend are strongly determined on where you live, the friends you have, etc.
That girl doesn't sound ungrateful...she sounds strong... that because no matter how hard life has been for her...she is determined to become better. And hopefully she will pass that down to her children and they will be better.

They remind me of me...when I started college I was homeless, living in my car. I would shower at the gym before class and do my homework at the public library. Now I'm 2 semesters away from a chemistry degree, I have a 4.0 GPA and I scored a place in the honor society. Bless these women and may they always keep that fire in them...it's the best part of our population.

I thought I was having a bad day. As I prayed, I was reminded of Fox 5 New’s Surprise Squad. I started watching this episode and I am crying! Life has nothing to do with the simple setbacks we experience. Instead, GIVING TO OTHERS is life…that IS LIFE!!!!

I just cannot believe how much Don Forman and family have put out over the years. He is the most generous person I've seen. These girls all deserve what they were given. I hope other students have watched this video and realize that they, too, can achieve their goals with some hard work in school.

I just want to say that I really think it’s fantastic that this program exists at all, to award local kids who really want to work in the hospitality industry there. I grew up in a tourist area and it can be difficult growing up with all those crowds swarming, the increased prices that comes with that, etc. and not feeling like you, as a local, really gets anything out of it.
I grew up in a similar background Paige and let me tell you something... RISE ABOVE Girlie! We are not what we come from and YOU can be the difference ❤️❤️❤️ congratulations to all of you!!
