    I am always tempted by these when they come across my feed. The busy-ness of them always makes me think twice. But they are very beautifully designed and a real asset to a DM.

      If you don't like the busyness of the art, you might like the "unfurnished" versions. On the Etsy store, if you select a map you like, and then select the "without furnish" option you can see what it looks like without all the bit and bobs scattered around.

    The price point is a little too high for my one-shot scenarios, but they are REALLY pretty and inspiring! Just watching your video got my creative juices flowing and I was thinking about scenarios and monsters. I wish I could afford getting all of them! Thanks for doing this video; cool expansion ideas for HQ!!!

      Thanks for watching. For the price, I think you would certainly want to be able to get a lot of uses out of them to justify the purchase.

    Great video as usual. I would love to see you do another play through of one of the HeroQuest expansions. Honestly, your play throughs are the best that I’ve come across.

      Thank you so much. I will definitely be doing some more HeroQuest playthroughs this year. I have a few ideas. I can't guarantee when they will happen at the moment, I have so much content to get through, and lots of topics to cover.

    This guy is fantastic, I've bought a few things from his Etsy shop.

    Map #3 is great. I would love a set of 2-3 maps printed in neoprene, where all of them are about the same scenery. Eg. Castle's ground floor and yard, tower or 1st floor and dungeons. It will be something unique for sure.

    Those are very pretty. Alas the classic HeroQuest design does have some issues with claustrophobic adventuring. But D&D maps have a big issue with being too flimsy and prone to tearing! So this looks like a great asset for the Gamemaster in me. ❤

      I am not a fan of paper mats, but like having all the different designs and possibilities they offer. These mats have most of the benefits of paper, but much more durability.

      @@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Agreed! The giant octopus would make an Epic HeroQuest one-shot!

      Oh, that one is actually my favourite one. I love the transition from interior to exterior, and yes, my mind was instantly thinking of ways to use that as a big clash. There is also a siege map that you could probably get numerous sessions out of as the heroes repel invaders.

      @@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I'm particularly fond of the Desert Map -- already trying to think of ways to implement the weird Desert Druid we got in the Habropulse order!

      That's why I love Zargon. They're basically the villain in a Saturday morning cartoon, trying a new kooky plan each week.

      I was surprised with how sturdy yet flexible they are. They aren't just like a sheet of paper or a thin piece of plastic.

    I can imagine a few younger adventurers who might enjoy that my Morcar/Zargon isn't quite so hysterical about drinks on the table while playing. And it may be worth investing in one just to avoid sleepless nights over the thought of the ultimate disaster of the board getting damaged.

      Ha. Yes, they are great for younger players who may be prone to more spills.

  • @RUTGERMORTENSEN
    @RUTGERMORTENSEN ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If it were half the price then it would be a no brainer but you can get proper printed rubber mats for the same price, its just printed thin plastic.

    • @AlwaysBoardNeverBoring
      @AlwaysBoardNeverBoring  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I understand price point is going to be a consideration. I have neoprene mats, and I love them, but they are much heavier, bulkier, and harder to transport and store. You can roll dozens of the these Lost Maps mats together and store them in the space of just one of the neoprene ones, which is ideal if you want lots of variety, or if you are a DM that travels to gaming venues a lot. Both options have their merits.
