      Worked in asbestos abatement for a few years 30 years ago. Because of the connection to 2 types of cancer, asbestosis and mesothelioma, lawyers, asbestos companies/suppliers made a ton of money removing a product found in nature. The synergistic effect of smoking/working with asbestos caused almost all of the asbestos related deaths.
      Have you ever worked with fiberglass? It would take days to get over all the itching. And what happens in your lungs while breathing in all of the micron size fiberglass particles? If you're working around asbestos, just have the proper filters, HEPA filter on your half mask, and wash all of your clothes afterwards.
      While working on a heater tank(temp was around 700 degrees F) at an oil refinery with 4 inch brick asbestos surrounding the heater tank, you could place your body against the heater tank and not feel any heat from the heater tank. After we removed the asbestos bricks, you couldn't stand within 15 feet of the heater tank. We tried to place fiberglass insulation on the heater tank to conduct some of the heat and the fiberglass insulation caught on fire. Please tell me asbestos isn't the best insulator for heat.

    • @ecogiful
      @ecogiful 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      9" vinyl tile always has asbestos even if it doesn't test for it. I installed floors for 30 years, so I ran into it almost weekly. To be honest, the regulations where I'm at pretty much only public buildings care about abatement. The stuff get treated like cyanide, but it takes years of breathing it to see any affects, so unless it's in your insulation AND exposed AND pulverized, worry about lead so don't eat paint chips!
