Damn man, I wish you were around back when I was in HS & Little League in the 90s. I tore it up when i was in Little League. I did pretty good in HS but I fell in with the wrong group and gave up on sports. My family were supportive but they had no idea what it would take to reach the next level, none of them went to college. I'm trying to play now in a Sandlot league but its hard to get back into shape.
Coach Antonelli, I am 14 almost 15 years old from ct and I play baseball. This video really helped me get an understanding of college recruiting and how I should be aware of all that goes into it, thank you. It was a good video and very beneficial to me because I love playing and want to play on the next level.
Where was this when I was coming up? Lol I thought going to the camps, maintaining good stats, and working hard was enough. Then again I was narrow minded in this d1 school(florida) is the school, yet I didn't fit their program, academicly wasn't qualified. And anything but them was a no. Got looked at by back then was community colleges. But I was arrogant and not educated in how it all worked. Now as a youth coach I can arm my players with the knowledge you have shared. Thank you. If I can help them achieve their dreams without my shortfalls that I had
I remember mailing VHS tapes to coaches in the 90s. It's nuts to me that people wouldn't send videos now that it is so very easy to get it in front of coaches.
Great stuff Matt I shared it with my son yeah we've already been doing the Showcase thing we're doing a video every year I think I sent you the one he did before his freshman year. Going to do another one in a couple months. We have taken your advice and he is is already making a list of colleges. So thank u
You've given us lots of great advice for players to get recruited. However, could u give us a video on tips for coaches on how to recruit effectively? That would be interesting.
I had no idea how the college recruiting went. I just thought someone came to watch you and they sign you. I was distraught when it didn't happen. I asked my coach (my uncle) why nobody looked at me bc I had decent stats, and he told me he didn't think I wanted to play in college. Like, you never asked. You know how this thing works, I don't. This was the mid 90s so information wasn't readily available like it is now.
Hello Matt, thanks for all the info. I used your advise on how to put together a recruiting video and posted it on my son’s recruiting site and we received an invite to a juco in North Carolina and he received an offer. The coach said he made the decision to invite him based on the video and the workout was to confirm if he matched which he did. Thanks so much!
Here's some basic advice to anyone looking to get recruited. Go to a PBR showcase (decently cheap around $200) then once u get that stats and video on your profile, just send the link to your profile to coaches emails of your choice & boom you're set!
Hey Matt . Great video as always. Quick question. For position players, everyone's great in a highlight film. How to college coaches evaluate skill sets in a highlight film when everyone is great in a highlight film. I realize you touched upon this in this video but if you have time to expand on it .. I would appreciate it. Thanks!
Because they are looking at skill set and actions. Even if you Field every ball or hit every ball well, they can still see what type of bat speed you have, hitting mechanics, fielding footwork, arm strength, etc. Coaches have a really good eye for what could play at their level and what can’t. Thanks for watching!
I barely started playing baseball my sophomore year I absolutely loved the game once I started I played as a kid but never continued and I wish I did but didn’t play sophomore year because of grades and my junior year was because of coronavirus so I didn’t get any time to play but if it’s a local junior college do you think they’ll let you play for their team? If I’m local to them
Question: we see all the time that pitchers who are out of the game for extended periods of time, mainly due to injury, return after a year or more and be effective. We rarely see it with position players in recent years (Andres Galarraga comes to mind) , but this year Brett Lawrie and Troy Tulowitzki are both returning after being out for roughly a couple of seasons. What in your opinion do they need to do to return to playing at a high level after being out of the game?
This is great information. Where can we locate the information on what a good email should include? Also, there seems to be a good deal of pressure to go to all of these camps and have a lot of general invites sent to the NCSA profile. There seems to be pressure for my recruiting class 2021 and I am just entering my Junior year. I wanted to continue to improve strength and velocity before going to a lot of the camps but am I missing my window of opportunity by waiting?
Is it okay to send training, and game film to college coaches? Even big time school, dp they actually watch the content- if we call and no one is ever answering how do we contact? Just show up and start knocking on doors?
Matt I am a senior pitcher topping out at 91 mph and I only have a few juco offers due to covid messing everything up right now. Would it be safe for me to wait until the summer to sign with a team?
I can’t remember exactly, but he had average grades. Not good enough to get into school on his own for sure. But was a pretty high recruit. Thanks for watching!
You’re not going d1. Baseball isn’t life and is nothing but a game you play for fun. You’re going to spend the rest of your life working a job, so spend time finding out what you love to do everyday rather than wasting time worrying about playing college baseball
thatboy dre thats what im saying. Baseball is never life unless you’re a freak prospect. You just think so when you’re young because sports are all most people base their reputation off of. When you’re older, sports will literally mean nothing
David Clyde! 1st round draft pick of the Texas Rangers and he was shockingly good! Dave Winfield was another ( he was also drafted by the NBA, ABA, and the NFL although he never played football in college) David Clyde was amazing and was compared to Koufax. The Ranger owner at the time went against his scouts and kept him in the majors. This is a really long story but he was screwed.
you’re a highly underrated baseball channel, keep up the good work!👍🏼

This is awesome advice that I wish I would have received as a kid. Especially here in SoCal where baseball talent is deep.
Good video. All this info also applies to girls wanting to play college softball. Pretty much the exact same process.
Great advice!! People have the illusion that If you are good enough they will find you but that indeed is rare.

Have you made the video about what to say in the email to coaches. I looked through your videos but couldn't find it.

That can work too! Thanks for watching!
At what grade in high school do you recommend making the video and what grade should a player begin show case in the summer?
...anxiously awaiting target list video. Thanks AB!
Would it be good to show your GPA as well when it comes to a recruitment video since its important off the field as well.
Yellow Flame Gaulent yes
Do colleges pay attention to travel baseball
Good question
Yes thats what they pay the most attention to
Yes, usually travel ball is more competition then school ball

Can you do a video on the 64 team playoff? I can't even find the full bracket, all I can find is the 8 team bracket (June 17)
Could you even do this as a senior?
Thank you so much! This is a great video!
Great video. What's the best way to find out where we fit in and what level we should be looking at?
Find someone that has placed players or coached a lot of guys that have moved on to different levels of college baseball. Thanks for watching!
Good video. Do u have a camp in new jersey
have you created the video regarding the email we should send to college coaches? Thank you great videos and information
Great video!!!
I enjoyed your conversation
do you think someone from the Netherlands could get selected with a video

Thanks bro for this information.
Question: can you or do you have to pay to use college fields ? Long as you got your own equipment? Or do you have to go to the school?
Thanks for teaching the truth
How do you out college coachs contacts and what year of your high school carrear should go to camps
thatboy dre Summer after junior year, find their email online and tell them you’re interested in the school and ask them to see you play

what age would you say that this would be good to start at?
When should a HS player start recruiting process
God I wish I knew this back in 06-07 I was that guy who thought the colleges would just come out because my name was always in the paper
Thanks
Thanks coach!!!!

Kid: Hits 450ft homerun
The coach: KNOB TO THE BALL!!!!!
Matt I am a senior pitcher topping out at 91 mph and I only have a few juco offers due to covid messing everything up right now. Would it be safe for me to wait until the summer to sign with a team?
How often do professionals go through gloves/bats
Coach Antonelli should we send our videos to head coaches or recruiting coordinators? Thank you for all your great videos!
Depends on the level. To be safe, send to both. CC all the coaches if you would like. Thanks for watching!
@@AntonelliBaseball Thank you.
Should U get on a good summer team
It definitely helps if you are playing with and against good players. Thanks for watching!
Matt, that guy you mentioned that went to Vandy, what was his GPA and what were his SAT/ACT scores?
I can’t remember exactly, but he had average grades. Not good enough to get into school on his own for sure. But was a pretty high recruit. Thanks for watching!
Hey Matt, would you suggest Perfect Game Baseball as a great option for a skilled 14 year old baseball player?
They have some good tournament and showcases for sure! Thanks for watching!
I'm 35 idk why I'm watching this......but I'm entertained
Iowa has HS baseball in the summer
Very interesting! Thanks for watching!
Mr Antonelli, I am in this kind of process. Do you have an email where I can get to you?
Matt , what are your thoughts on junior colleges and Legion ball ?
I think they are fine, but definitely depends on the program. Some are great and some aren’t.
I'm 41 and I'm not planning to play college baseball. Why am I watching this?
Give some tips for the JuCo players... we need love too!
Lol why would you ever play juco
John Jacob bryce harper went to JuCo
I live in Minnesota and I’m a freshman 😂
I have a question i live in west palm beach do u think colleges like usf or miami will watch my games if im a 3 or 4 star athlete
You’re not going d1. Baseball isn’t life and is nothing but a game you play for fun. You’re going to spend the rest of your life working a job, so spend time finding out what you love to do everyday rather than wasting time worrying about playing college baseball
How are u ganna criticize someone if u dont evne know anyrhing about me nd i never said that baseball was my life plus for alot of people it is
thatboy dre thats what im saying. Baseball is never life unless you’re a freak prospect. You just think so when you’re young because sports are all most people base their reputation off of. When you’re older, sports will literally mean nothing
How do u get into exposure camps or get coaches attention
A lot of them you just have to sign up for. Just make sure you do your homework because there are thousands of them. Thanks for watching!
Also be respectful of all Umpires!
Omg this great
In a recruitment video should you include game footage?
Jack Falvo Is did you even watch the video?
You can, but a workout is fine. They don’t care about results very much, just want to see your skill set. Thanks for watching!
Has there ever been a case of a player being so good they get drafted and go straight to the majors?
David Clyde! 1st round draft pick of the Texas Rangers and he was shockingly good! Dave Winfield
@@sosuapimp8449 Any good?
@@RolandDeschain1 Was Dave Winfield any good ? He is a legend from 1974 to 1998 it was really hard to name a better overall player.
