    Mine is the liner lock version and they have added a lock to the flathead screwdriver bottle opener. Nice addition for sure.

    Hello. My EDC outdoor knife is the SAK Atlas. Had it over 20 years and the pliers are great. The same knife as this but with a saw instead of the shackle opener and a non serrated blade. A fantastic knife.. And it is black. The corkscrew is great for undoing knots. All the best.

      Thanks so much Paddy...the healing seems to be going better then I expected although I didn’t know they were going to take some bone out of my knee to put into my foot and my knee is more sore then the foot,but as long as I can walk in the end buddy. Take care and thanks again for the encouragement it helps.

    Awesome knife!!! I’m looking at the victorinox ranger 55, one of the 130mm versions.
    Currently the skipper is my favourite SAK!
    My skipper has a half stop on the blade. The navy camo version.

      Hi, depends if you want it for woodlands or you are a sailor. If it is for on land use look at the sak ATLAS. Same as this but with a saw instead of the shackle tool and a non serrated blade. had mine for over 20years and it is great.

    • @TheBigCanucker
      @TheBigCanucker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RHINO 54 Thanks for the heads up, the knife is for land use for sure, but the shackle opener intrigued me and like most knife guys I let my want overcome my need and justified getting a naval knife in the middle of a near desert in Southern Alberta..lol..

    I saw this link through the fb group, awesome!
    I have seen these bass akwards serrated blades for years and years and I've been dead-set against them.....
    But..... I'm starting have some curiosity, and now im thinking "why not try it?"
    Good video! Recuperate soon!

      Thank you very much for the kind words buddy it’s very much appreciated. I definitely has reservations about the serrated blade, but mostly from the sharpening aspect. I was pretty surprised at how sharp they were out of the box and how easy it went through some tough thick cardboard, I don’t think I will be filling serrations in all my blades anytime soon, but I won’t be turning a knife down simply because it’s serrated anymore. Have a great rest of your week buddy.

    A bit late but do u think this knife would be good for hiking as well as sailing ?

    • @TheBigCanucker
      @TheBigCanucker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would think it would be fine for hiking. The only thing I might do if your a serious bush crafter is perhaps reprofiling part of the serrated edge in order to feather stick and perhaps work with wood a little better but other that that I think it would be a great hiking knife.

    • @romario5385
      @romario5385 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBigCanucker no I am only a beginner and it will be my first time Hiking. I was going to get this or the Trailmaster or Hunter but I thought that the pliers and marlin spike would be more useful. Any information or suggestions would be appreciated . Thanks for the reply,

    • @TheBigCanucker
      @TheBigCanucker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@romario5385 If it was me I would go with the outrider. You would be amazed at the knots the cork screw can help with and the saw and scissors are more used tools then the marlin spike and the plyers in my opinion, but the Skipper is a little cooler and that’s always a big factor in my knife purchases. I think with either one you will be alright I just think the saw and scissors are way more practical. I hope this helps my friend.

    • @romario5385
      @romario5385 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBigCanucker thanks for ur advice and I’ll probably get the Outrider. Any thought on the Hunter as I will not use this knife for edc as I’m in the uk , so I thought the curved blade would be useful instead of scissors for fishing?

    • @TheBigCanucker
      @TheBigCanucker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@romario5385 I have a Hunter and the way it’s set up it’s a really uncomfortable knife to use and not really a well thought out design. I did a review on it if you want to have a look. If your in the UK I would suggest the Farmer or Farmer X in Alox or the Fieldmaster both are Uk legal to carry and exceptional knives to use and carry. If your an avid fisherman there is a Fisherman UK legal model as well with the fish scaler, but I think if you needed to take off some scales the large blade will work just as well. I hope this helps again buddy take care.

    Can boating people weigh in on whether the Skipper or Skipper Pro is better. I want to get a gift for a boating person who knows my fondness for SAK's.

    • @edgaraquino2324
      @edgaraquino2324 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This may be late, but here goes...the Skipper will be good for folks who work 40 - 50 ft boats on lakes or offshore runs along the coast...the Skipper Pro is for people who run bigger boats at sea, including private, commercial yachts & sailboats & racing sailboats...I understand the Pro is for saltier sailors with more deep sea experience in general & with sailboats in particular...hope this helps....😊

    Howd u lose ur foot?

    • @TheBigCanucker
      @TheBigCanucker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve had 3 surgeries on it in 3 years all from a slip. I tore a whole bunch of ligaments and tendons and thought it was a bad sprain, so I worked on it for 3 months and wrecked it even worse. In total I’ve had 11 pins, screws and various pieces of titanium installed to fuse all the joints in the foot. I just had the 12th and a piece of bone from my knee put in to completely fuse the whole foot in the hopes I can walk without pain.
