    No exaggerating, but this is the BEST suppressor review on youtube PERIOD! Does all calibers, shows him shooting with and without ear protection, no music and no commentary during shooting. No fluff talk in between. Quick transitions to give the viewer the most holistic experience so they can make a good judgement. please keep them coming! Bravo!

    I just received my stamp and picked up my Obsidian 45 last weekend. It works perfectly. I used it on my Scorpion EVO3 pistol with Rugged’s fixed barrel spacer and the 9mm end cap. My neighbor thought I was shooting a pellet gun. That right there tells you how well it works. The suppression with subsonic ammunition is just simply amazing.
    Now, for Rugged’s customer service. They are also amazing. I had seen that on other reviews, which is part of the reason why I went with the Obsidian 45. My first time using it, a bullet barely struck the 9mm end cap. It did not damage the baffles or the tube. I believe it was my fault, as the cap that tightens the piston into the suppressor was not completely tightened down. I discovered that it stuck a little on the piston, so although I thought it was tightened, it had a little to go. That slight play resulted in the bullet striking the end cap. After contacting Rugged, they sent me a new end cap, spring, and piston cap (the one that was sticking on the piston) free of charge within two days. Bottom line, their customer service is amazing and they stand behind their products. 5 stars all of the way around. For the product and the quality.

    • @dustinduncan1730

      Yeah, I don’t use the 9mm end cap anymore. Every one I have tried has had strikes…

    thanks for including 45, 9mm, and 22 pistol and rifle in this video. Really helps get an idea how it sounds across all the typical platforms.
    After 5 months I just picked up AAC TiRant, but these new products from Rugged, Sig, and DA would have made it a difficult choice a few months ago. Hopefully more mount options in future for these new Cans

    Rugged by far has one of the best customer service. Own a obsidian 45 and got an end cap strike on my last visit to the range and they sent me a replacement within a few days. Just for that I ended up getting the 556 and 762/30cal cans from them. Would love to see what they brings to the world in the future!

      CAN confirm. Still rated quietest 45 supp. Came here to see if he could give me some pointers on taking it apart. Very stiff before first use. Can't get some of the baffles apart. Operator manual says use hex key but the thought of marring something I waited waaaay too long to take home, has me hesitant...and he didn't break it apart on camera...probably because he struggled too.
      Edit: I used the end of a hard plastic kitchen stirring spoon and a rubber mallet for the really difficult ones.

    I’m still looking for a .45 silencer I have the rugged obsidian 9 on efile with an Erector 9 as well but what would be the quietest can on a 1911, HK45C and MK23 rugged obsidian 45? I know it’s an older video but I’m still rocking my TiRant 9 & 45 so it must be quieter than those or have a better tone which the Tirant was hard to beat for years and a lot of people still can’t do it. Not sure what kind of availability or quality mounts and accessories will have in the future. • @Andrew-ps6xe
      @Andrew-ps6xe 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Shooting "wet" means there is some liquid inside the can. Wire pulling gel and water are both common. With water, you usually dunk the can and give it a good shake or two. You don't want it full, just sodden.
      Some of the muzzle blast goes into atomizing and evaporating the fluids, making the shots quieter. It wears out after a few shots, but it's easy to reapply and keep going.

    I think you might've convinced me on this Product! Now, I do have a question. I am looking at this suppressor for an Gen 3 Glock 17. Does anybody have any recommendations on threaded barrels? I have been looking at KKM, but I want some other opinions as well...

      Look on brownells.com they have a good selection. The silencerco barrels are nice.

    Fairly new to this new toy what is a different between dry and wet?

    • @ainusa1534
      @ainusa1534 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mario serna wet is when you put a few ml of water in the can.

    • @franka7691
      @franka7691 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mario serna Wet is quieter because an ablative media such as water, pulling gel, or oil is inserted in the suppressor, absorbing heat, and thereby reducing flash and sound.

      @kassenz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "wet" prevents the oxygen inside the Can from igniting. More suppression for the first few rounds, and prevents the louder "First round Pop" noise

  • @Stevexnycautomotive
    @Stevexnycautomotive ปีที่แล้ว

    The suppressor need cooling fin on its exterior to keep cool or the barrel of the tool will become destort causing the tool to jam or backfire. Know your game, don't buy a death wish.

    • @kassenz
      @kassenz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a TiRant too.
      The TiRant has a piston that is 2x the size and weight. And, the baffles are not all coated, some are bare T6-6061 aluminum, and only one is stainless steel.
      The Obsidian M, and Dead Air Ghost M are similar to TiRant, but improved.
      The real shocker is the new Sig 45 can. Low price, comes with two pistons, and more compact design. Not modular though.

    Would it be possible to shoot 300blk or 308 subsonic through this can?

    • @scotts148
      @scotts148 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hudson McCall I realize this is from 3 years ago but for anyone else reading, it is rated for subsonic 300 Blackout. I believe minimum barrel length is 7.5" or 8.5". I think 308 might be too much for it.

    Awesome video, wonder what kind of ammo was used for the 9mm. I tried this with my cz scorpion w 115 9mm with the full size can and it was pretty loud still

      If you rly want it to be quite you will want to use 147 grain and up which is subsonic which will be wicked quite .

      Hush ammo is supposed to be designed for suppressors extremely fast burning powder makes it very fast and clean burning sound quality I can't comment on my obsidian is still in atf jail but I'm definitely going to get a box of hush 45acp and 9mm if mine comes through alright I think I'll make it my dedicated suppression ammo clean quiet and the price was comparable to other decent ammo we shall see

    What is the difference between Wet and Dry in a Silencer ?

    • @joshbrown1381
      @joshbrown1381 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wet means adding a fluid. Either water, other non-flammable liquid. Some also use a water based ablative gel (AKA wire pulling gel).

      Yeah it seems like it. I think there’s a sweet spot where it mostly goes out the front. Or they have the flow through cans like OSS, that directs everything out the front.
