Kudos to the sound people on this for reworking an inside setup to a windy one and nailing it.

Without fail since I first discovered it, I've been listening to this song _at least_ once a day and there's no chance of me getting sick of it. A perfectly beautiful voice and song and it has instantly become one of my all-time favourites.

My reluctance to die is fuelled by things like this, discovering brilliant musicians like her. Thinking of the countless beautiful songs that I'll miss..well, it's hard not to get a little melancholy about it.

Between the beautiful decrepitude, the film of filmmakers making the film, the spooky vocals, fine musicianship and gorgeous setting, this is pretty cool.

Bravo MasonJar, Shara and band. Superb music & video on location. I've added it to the top of my playlist, "Live Music // Nontraditional Spaces". And thank you!

So I'm assuming they were kicked out of the abandoned building that they chose originally and fined?

It seems so... police officers are always working hard on lesser stuff, if you know what I mean! Excellent song by the way, Shara Worden is always surprising.

I imagine Shara Worden could do this at the cubicle farm as much as an abandon building... Maybe you guys are working too hard? And would it be so much to ask for an outdoor recording that sounds like it was recorded.... wait for it... out doors? Just sayin....

Michigan Militia Music I know they did this awhile back, and I didn't when i wrote my comment. That said, I think the whole "art in disused spaces" concept is stupid. I doesn't feel "arty" or "interesting" to me. Honestly the building inspector condemns buildings for a reason... because they may come down! My point is that what's interesting about this music is the music itself and if the music is interesting it doesn't need a hackneys sense of place to make it interesting.

DH Bennett I'm really fascinated by the whole slew of music in odd places videos, sort of pioneered by La Blogotheque, and taken in new directions by other artists. It fits with the collage-like atmosphere of today's art world, the idea of architectural art, videogeaphic art, and music coming together in one place. Look at these videos as more than what the music video has been in the past, a delivery device for the song, and look at it as a more equally weighted, music AND video. The result is some really inspiring work.

Not a bad band, not a bad song, but another vocalist that shouldn't be leading anything. I know this type of music typically has that kind of sound where the vocalist really isn't that good but, it could be so much better if she could actually sing. And I'm not just saying that to be mean or as a man with no experience. As a vocal performance major I had to face scrutiny and training on my voice daily. Get her some voice lessons and maybe she'll get there.

This is your opinion. Thankfully it is not fact. Shara Worden is a classically trained vocalist. I regard this song as one of the most beautiful I've ever heard.

    • @hippbh32
      @hippbh32 9 ปีที่แล้ว

As a classically trained vocalist myself, 12 years for that fact, I can tell you that she is NOT a classically trained vocalist. And while my opinion may differ from yours, yours too is also an OPINION. Just becase it comes from you doesn't make it fact. I can pretty much guarantee my 20+ years of musical training trumps your opinion of clearly not knowing what you are talking about.

Bryce Hipp "I can tell you that she is NOT a classically trained vocalist." I am going by what the various music journos have said. Have an issue with that? Take it up with them.
There's also this from her wiki page: 'Worden graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA for vocal performance.[2] After university, she lived in Moscow, Russia, for a year where she studied Russian and wrote songs, producing a self-released, limited edition EP, Session I. She moved to New York City where she continued to study opera with Josephine Mongiardo.'

"And while my opinion may differ from yours, yours too is also an OPINION. Just becase it comes from you doesn't make it fact."
Please note I never said it did :). My opinion is that she has a beautiful voice and can write great music. Your opinion is that she is a vocalist who shouldn't be leading anything. The world continues to turn.
"I can pretty much guarantee my 20+ years of musical training trumps your opinion of clearly not knowing what you are talking about."
Yes because musical appreciation is a purely objective thing that can only be achieved by people with formal qualifications..

Bryce Hipp I feel like you need to watch more of her stuff before you make a blanketed statement about her abilities as a whole. This song should have done it for you to begin with, but then again, I get the feeling you like to "critique" people/music for some reason. She hails from Arkansas, surprisingly, and she is a very talented woman across the board. She sounds just as good (if not better) live as she does in recording. This isn't a slight against you at all, just a suggestion to listen more, look at the substance as opposed to your seemingly ridged "structure" for what counts for quality, classically trained ( she really is classically trained), and look/listen to the whole. It is remarkable and beautiful. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Personally, I never want to be the asshole that thinks they know before they actually know. I like to investigate more. See what they're made of. Is it consistent? Is it of substance? Is it well put together? What were they thinking when coming up with this? I'll suggest "I have never loved someone", " Freak out", "Looking at the sun", " Be brave", " I am not the bad guy"....
