    Just picked this up from Second Chance in the UK. Love Steve Dixon's narrative games. Up there with Gregory Smith for me in the quality of his games.

      If he's up there with Greg, then I'm going to dig it. I love Greg's games, and it'll be great to have another designer on par with that covering some different subjects. This is my first game from Steve, so I'm excited to dig into it.

    I've really got my eye on this at the moment although I will probably hold fire until the second printing comes around which will hopefully include the corrections/errata.

    • @MoesWargames
      @MoesWargames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If there's any errata, and most wargames have errata, it should be negligible and easily corrected with any notes from the designer/publisher.

      @@MoesWargames doesn't Hollinspiele have a Ukraine war game on the earlier first incursions into Southern Ukraine by the Russians some years ago? I'm going to have to double check that

    Great unboxing as always, Moe. The game board looks very cool. I like how they incorporated the sequence of play right into it. Any chance you'll be doing a playthrough of this one?

    • @MoesWargames
      @MoesWargames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, they do awesome work! Not sure when I'll have a chance to play yet, let alone do a playthrough. lol In the middle of some other game projects right now which are taking priority.

    Thanks for the post, Moe. Do you see additional games with other aircraft type and other years?

    • @MoesWargames
      @MoesWargames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching! There are several games with other aircraft and other years, by both of these designers and others. Check out Target for Today/Target for Tonight, and B-29 Superfortress from Legion Wargames. And of course, you can always find a bunch of various aircraft solo games from Greg Smith over on the Compass Games website as well. WWII era, with a new BIG WWI game coming from him next year. Hope that helps!

    This is no longer modern era. 1966 is over 50 years ago. Vietnam era maybe. Anyway regardless of era, there are a hundred wargames I'd play before considering this abstraction. Thanks for the video, though. Always well-produced and comprehensive.

    • @MoesWargames
      @MoesWargames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching, glad you liked it. Yea, I still consider Vietnam 'modern' era for my interests, the very earliest of modern era. :)

    Fun game--particularly with the optional squadron rule. With that said, after a few play-throughs I found myself wanting to play something else. While I do recommend the game, its one that I would tell people to wait for it when its discounted on Noble Knight or buy if they can find it used. In my opinion, it doesn't have the legacy appeal as other narrative war games like Phantom Leader, The Hunters, Target For Today or Storm Above The Reich.

    • @MoesWargames
      @MoesWargames  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why do you feel it doesn't have the same legacy feel as those other games? I would expect a similar experience as TFT especially, along with the others since they share a similar base feel.

    • @p.parker8304
      @p.parker8304 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MoesWargames To be truthful, it felt Iike I flying missions alone unless I was using the optional squadron rules -- which is just one giant dice chucking fest because you're rolling for ALL of the jets in your squadron. I didn't get that same sense with Target For Today even though it's by the same designers. Again, I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the game, but it's fair to say the fun/legacy factor just wasn't there for me like the games I mentioned above. It'll be a while before I play this game again.

    • @MoesWargames
      @MoesWargames  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@p.parker8304 I don't have TfT, so can't speak from any angle on that game, but I take it they don't do the same squadron style of play? Not every game will grab everyone the same way, which is fine, and why we have different games to choose from. We're lucky with the number of varied assortment of wargames coming out today!

      As I responded in another comment, for me it's the earliest end of modern era which interests me.
