Committed-Episode 2: Babsi Zangerl on Greenspit (8b+)

- Greenspit is a route of mythical status. Bolted and “defaced” as some traditionalists would say with green hangers (hence the route’s name), the route thwarted all suitors until the legendary swiss trad ace Didier Berthod chopped the bolts and made the first ascent placing natural pro.
For Babsi Zangerl, Greenspit was a challenge always waiting in the wings ... until thanks to Covid, the fall of 2020 found her home in Europe and not on El Cap.
Babsi spent last fall in Italy’s famed Valle dell’Orco where she racked up and committed to the steep roof crack. And after enduring the runouts, whips, and painful hand jams, Babsi became the first woman to succeed on Greenspit. - กีฬา

@@palminator73 they aren’t responsible for promoting black diamond helmets lol. If black diamond needed then to they would have in this video, and more than just black diamond make good helmets. Any helmet is better than none too

Yes, love to hear from the athletes (especially Babsi and Jacopo) but I agree with the less cuts. Most of the people who watch this for the climbing content would probably like to see the movement rather than a bunch of cuts from position to position.
Agreed, and also keep more gear placements in! Seems like a no-brainer since BD sponsored and they sell cams.
The weird non-subtle gear close-ups detracted a bit too. Why not just put a link in the description to the BD site to a blog post with some more shots, or a couple of those products and keep the art art? Stay classy, Black Diamond.
@@stevebarratt888 Remember, though, BD isn't just making this series because they love filming climbers and their accomplisments. It's easy to forget that this is, in fact, an advertisement. It's a very well executed one, like much of their stuff, but it's definitely an advertisement.

This looks like a harder/upgraded version of the original Separate Reality climb which introduced cams to the climbing world. :-)

I want to see footage of Babsi pulling back onto the route after taking a fall that leaves her hanging in space. That would be informative.
Either yoinked up the rope and belayer progress captured or she lowered to the ground and started over. Looks like that was during pre-placed gear attempts so no biggie to pull the rope and leave gear.
Why is he pulling the rope so hard at 6:32?
Maybe he thought she’s about to fall. Or maybe it’s not the sending footage and she actually called “Take!” in that moment.
is it just me, or does it look like it would be a ground fall when falling right before the top?
It looks like the ground slopes down pretty steeply, so maybe it’s ok?
@@somanayr I would say that a fall that high above the last clip would be around 8-10m and roughly two thirds of that below the last clip.
The slope needs to be very steep then. But I guess they all know exactly what they're doing and everything's fine even if looks sketchy

No, it's an annoying trend ... the usual whining about cuts or music in well-made climbing "films" (notice the difference to uncut/raw footage of an ascent).

@@deathmetalhablo It's quite simple: "Uncut/raw footage" and "films" are two different things; and both have their right to exist.
And it's definitely annoying that nowadays in almost every comment section of a climbing film, no matter how well it's made, the kids are shouting "UNCUT" as if by reflex.
