Astonoshingly beautiful and inspiring. I often romanticise about preparing my own violins, but as it seems I will probably stick to playing my own... and leave the art of crafts to the artists. Wonderful.
Hi .... gald to hear you enjoyed the video. The main gouges you will need are: 5/12, 7/10, 8/7, and 8/10 .... the sweep of the gauge is the first number. Those are the basic ones and then you can add others if you feel you need them.
Of all of the videos on this channel, this is by far my favourite. They make it looks so smooth and elegant, like the production of it really mirrors the beauty of the product itself. Thank you for this wonderful series!
I love violin music and I'm fascinated how it made the wood the shape I bought a violin years ago just to look at the beauty and tried to take violin lessons but I didn't master it so I just listen to it's beautiful sound.
That was so perfect im scared to look at my violin now lol. Yes cats are brilliant! my oldest cat is lovely and precise in where she steps, where as our youngest cat would of had the entire contents of that bench on the floor! good video
Its great seeing a female Luthier! Very rare!!! I've been one for 55+ years. You do great work! Never mind the 19 morons who put the thumbs down. They are pathetic and must cut down others to feel better about themselves! We know better, dont we. Your work is very excellent and not even an idiot can dispute this!!!
Absolutely beautiful!! Just watching you work was a piece of art in itself. I'm a woodcarver and musician and I'm just getting started making dulcimers. When I'm comfortable with the basics, I plan to do a scroll head carving. You video was most helpful. Where did you get the plans for the peg head and scroll? thx, Bert
Great video and very precise work. I'm a woodworker and i've built guitars for my sons, one of them wants an electric violin!! I'm looking at videos to get a grasp to whats needed for the head piece you just did there, very well too i have to say...perfect even! Any tips for this. I see you have listed the gouges which is great. I'll have to get these. Love the cat too!!!
Your videos are so inspiring! Thank you SO much!!! Could you be so kind to tell me sizes of gouges I would need to make a violin and scroll. I want to by Pfeil gouges, but I don't know which one I need. I see that they have numbers like, 8/5, 16/4 e.t.c. Thank you very much!
LOL - I was going to say something similar as a joke. It's amazing to see what can be done using hand tools. Even if you used a CNC there might still have to be some hand finish work. Besides, everyone knows a violin sounds better if it's carved by hand! Which may actually be true. Maybe working the wood by hand causes a change that effects the tone?
hello thanks for uploading this video would be nice for those erraminetas Asher my violin but I have not. A question could Asher's bolutacon a chisel 1 inch is the only one who teng fabor or too large could send me the measures fabor grasias I'm from Mexico and I have 13 years
Wow..my jaw was hanging open. I could watch this all day long. Incredible craftsmanship.

A wood scraper. You can get them In lots of different shapes. Leaves wood smoother than sandpaper.

beautifull work, realy lovin these videos. I see you now use a template for the scrole.
Nice scroll. This is something that is much harder than it looks, if it was easy all violins would come with a nice scroll
The kitty is supervising the work progress.
Love this video. It would be really cool to see a full video showing all the steps. How many hours does it take from start to finish?
The music is Shubert Rosumude
i try to find a mistake and cannot!!!!

This is a work of art all by itself. For reference, how many hours does it take an experienced maker to create this one piece.?
