This is possibly the most comprehensive series on violin making that I've seen on TH-cam. Thank you for great videos. I'm looking forward to the next video in your series.
I feel lucky that I discovered your channel at this time, 2021, otherwise, I would die waiting for the next video. Liked, subscribed, and moving to episode 15. 'Pai pai !
Hey Maestro, watching for some hours now yours videos, infinite THANKS and strong hugs for your gifts and global work on theses thematics episodes. with some basic skills, i can start my self a making before more improvment stages.. Keep sharing, you're the man!
@@maestrokimon The one thing Stradivarius did have was a huge trashcan. He supposedly threw most of his parts away and only keep the very best ones. He also used some kind of woodworm repellant which, according to some, attributed to the warm sound.
wow !!! thank you so much for sharing . I'm not artistic enough to do scroll work . so , I buy mine pre-cut and I just need to lightly sand and french polish then add the fingerboard and attach . I don't use ebony but prefer to get a hardwood fingerboard and French polish it a different shade so there is a contrast
Great video as always Maestro! I hope to some day be as skilled and confident in the art as you are. Truly a master class educational video collection you are putting out. And for free?! I hope you get a decent compensation from you tube Haha. And I hope to some day be able to make my way out to meet you and apprentice under you for a while. That would be amazing! Keep em coming!
TH-cam gives me a big compensation! Hahahahahaha!!!! not!!!! OK! Thank you for your kind words, these are the biggest compensation! Where do you leave?
@@maestrokimonlol That good to know! I live in the United States. Far east Texas to be a little more precise. I have a little shop and am concentrating on repairs mostly but watching you makes me want to jump into making sooner than expected.
Great videos. Learning a lot. Do you ever use sandpaper on the violin neck or just the scrapers? It must be really hard to leave it so smooth with a perfect curve with a scraper, that's why I'm wondering
@@maestrokimon That's interesting. Doesn't the sand paper clog up the wood with dust? I want to make the neck of one of my cheap violins thinner, so I'm trying to learn how to do that and your videos are really helpful

Good to hear Bert, thank you very much!
Wonderful work! Wonderful demonstration! I did get a little laugh when I saw you using that bright LED lamp. I don't think Stradivari had one!
Thank you so much for your kind words Jim! There is more that Stradivari didn't have and yet he made beter instruments than all of us!

It seems unnatural to use such effort and force to create such a delicate object. Beautiful work Maestro. Thank you for the lesson.
That's true! But don't underestimate how hard maple is.
Excellent work as usually. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words!

good show
Would have liked to see you do the fluting on the back, top and front
I think that you mean the tuning of the blades. Still working on it!
Thank you for the video. Can you tell what size/sweep gouges you use for scroll carving? You mentioned the 25mm 5 sweep, but not the other ones.

What kind of tailpiece do you prefer?
The same for viola?
Thanks!
Hi from Brazil :)

Will you be carving the grooves on the back of the scroll as well?
Coming up Dave!
Great videos. Learning a lot.

It must be really hard to leave it so smooth with a perfect curve with a scraper, that's why I'm wondering
I do 95% with the scrapes and then only clean up with paper. Just the finishing touch.

You have to use sandpaper for wood. if the wood is clean it doesn't clog.
Muito bom
Obrigado!!!!!
I made about a doz. necks using BASS wood before I I started a neck on my expensive curly maple stock.*DR KEL
Es un buen video, pero no entiendo porque no mostrar el trabajo de el caracol al mismo tiempo que habla y enseña. Gracias!
Thank you Jose for your kind words. I don't understand your question very well.
