I have a ceramic coating on my truck and am super happy with it. Much easier to wash and maintains the the freshly polished and waxed look long term. That being said, for an RV, I'd say a ceramic coating is probably not the best option.
I’m willing to bet that the windows/glass was not ceramic coated, hence the bugs and hardened mineral stains were difficult to remove. All ceramic coatings all have to be washed with some type of mitt/cloth in order to agitate the dirt. It doesn’t just wash away with a spray, have some common sense. The owners probably didn’t understand that the provided spray was a refresh to be applied after the wash in most cases depending on the product. I have a 9 year coating on my truck and it works as expected flawlessly and sits in the harshest elementals daily.
Love the honesty and the determination to protect your reputation. Reputations are earned and not just given and as you stated it can take years to build trust and the good reputation that comes with that trust. Which of course can be destroyed in an instant and today it seems some just don't care and they're getting away with that attitude for now but there will come a day when it bites them. Good on you Andrew and it's refreshing to see someone from a younger generation who knows and has truly timeless values. There's a reason those of us from GenX and older generations were taught that our word is our bond and a man who doesn't honor his word is no man at all...
Who ever said washing was unnecessary after a ceramic coating? Only real difference in maintenance procedure is, a ceramic based protectant should be used in place of traditional wax or sealant. You are allowed your own opinion about ceramic coatings, but are doing your customers a disservice by not really understanding them.
Andrew lost a lot of credibility when he showed the dirt on the RV. Like we're supposed to believe that a ceramic coating was going to prevent dirt from getting on the RV! Or maybe there are actually people out there who believe that??
Wow this is good info. Just watched a bunch of videos about ceramic coatings and all were sponsored videos. All were the greatest thing since sliced bread. Glad to find some honest people. Great job.
As soon as you said deionized water, I knew you were in this for self promotion. Ceramic coatings do not need deionized water. Ceramic coatings also need paint enhancement or correction or clay in order to be applied properly. I've had Ceramic Pro 9H and Ceramic Pro Lite applied on all my cars from the Tesla to the BMW X3 and if done properly, their advantages far outweigh the cost, particularly in climates with high UV and salt components in the air where I live. Even from the beginning of the video where you showed the dirt, a proper paint correction or enhancement prior to a ceramic coating, wouldn't grab dirt like what you showed, meaning it wasn't applied or cured properly. As far as glass, the only product I would use would be Glassparency. My foam cannon and a pressure wash is all it needs with a microfiber dry....no swirls or spots after 3 years and water still sheets off both cars.
You're absolutely spot on, deionised water 😂 I've got Ceramic Pro Gold package on mine and it's brilliant, obviously prep and application are key with all Ceramic coatings, but Ceramic Pro Gold is the best 4 coats of 9h plus the top coat, can't beat it!
Self promotion? Does he sell deionized water systems or something? The concerns he raised for cleaning RV's make sense. I'm assuming it's impossible to hand dry an RV before the sun dries some of the water. For ceramic coated vehicles, letting the sun dry hard water that's turned into a million little beads = water spot city. For now, water spots represent the greatest challenge for ceramic coatings. Ceramic coatings are typically pitched as being able to "make your life easier". This is a massive misconception. If you don't properly dry a ceramic coated car after every wash, it's going to look like crap after a while. For car people a proper drying process isn't that big of a deal, but for non car people who were sucked in by ceramic coating marketing, having to dry your car after every wash is probably viewed as a pain in the a**
I 100% agree with you. I spent about 8 hours overall prepping and coating my Ram 1500 with Cquartz. Although I did not have to pay the ridiculous price places are charging it was a hell of a lot of work. The results were no better then good polymer sealant. It’s been on about 2 years and my truck is garage kept really only a secondary vehicle. Brine and salt stick to the ceramic coating during winter months and I still have to use detail sprays to get the stuff out. When I got my coach I used pressure washer, with foam gun, simple chuck and hand applied polymer sealant Great results. Thanks for being honest about these product as it seems to only be a high priced gimmick.
Wash, iron decon if necessary, clay, blow dry every crack and crevice, machine polish with a product without any protection, use a prep spray to clean any polishings residue and apply coating per product instructions and follow the curing process of the coating which in most cases is avoid getting the surface wet for 24hrs and no washing for 7-14 days and are fully cured in 14-28 days. If you do that and use a quality product you won’t complain.
I've learned if coaches use Sickens Paint and layer the paint job (no stickers) then triple coat the paint job with Super Clear coating that upscale RV manufacturers use other than vinyl rapping the nose your super guaranteed a good looking flawless coach with a standard wash, rinse, and a buff. A coach only needs waxing actually once a season. Trust me on this I have hands-on experience.
I’m not a fan of Ceramic Coatings for motorhomes. I am a Detailer and I also own a tiffin motorhome and I would never apply a Ceramic coating to it. I have applied it to my tow vehicle and love it. Andrew you are 100% right about reputation and that is the same reason I won’t sell what I don’t believe in. Keep up the great work
We use Optimum spray wax which has a UV protectant in it and then top that with Bead Maker. We also sell these products as well, took me a long time to find a product and company that has the same beliefs as I do.
@@detailingstudio3029 good to hear! I saw your comment on a previous postbefore I filmed this video and I'm glad that you agree. Very cool to meet another Tiffin owner/detailer. I hope to cross paths and talk shop someday.
I had my car ceramic coated 5 years ago and it is still holding up pretty good , the depth of shine is very noticeable compared to other cars and I have not really polish or wax the car up to last year , it is truly an amazing product for that. Having said that, there are a few disadvantages , and this is where my beef with coatings come in the last year. For starters the coatings do required toppers to be apply every 3-6 months in order to "maintain the coating" which kind of defeats the purpose of the claim " one time application" , because there are many waxes, sealants that also have 6 month durability. The other main issue that I have with coated cars is that the application tends to be tedious and expensive , even if you do it yourself , there are hidden costs that come with it , aside from buying the product and polishers/compounds ( for prep) , you also have to factor in the cost of towels since they can not be re used after applying a coating , and it can easily add an extra 50$ to the price. Lastly the main issue is that inability to do a light polish or paint correction once you have to coating applied, hear me out before someone says coatings dont need polished. I can tell you that the paint will get swirl marks and scratches with the coating, specially if you daily that car, so sure you car will look shiny but under the sun you will see all the swirl marks. I have become very ocd about my cars and I do a light polish every 6 months on my other 3 cars that are not coated and they look great, however I can not do that to my coated car, because once you apply a da polisher you are removing the coating . Even if I just did paint correction on one panel , I still have to apply a new coating on that panel, the issue is the coatings only have a 6 month shelf life, so that means you need to buy a small bottle every 6 months so fix up scratches on specific panels . God forbid you do a light polish on the whole car to get rid of swirl marks , you will probably have to redo the whole application all over again. I enjoyed my coating for the first 5 years, because I just washed the car and it always looked like it had a wax applied on it, however now I m more OCD about swirl marks and scratches , therefore I find it hard to justify a coating , specially now that there are so many products that are much easier to apply that will give you the same look or even better for much much cheaper, and they will give you the advantage of correction paint , doing light polish once a year or twice a year so the car looks great under different lighting I m finding it much easier with my other cars to just apply a sealant ( 3-6 months) and something like beadmaker as a drying aid every car wash , or every 2 car washes, the level of shine and slickness of bead maker beats more ceramic coatings anyways and the price for a gallon is just out of this world cheap , also a good sealant is cheaper and easier to apply , gives you same protection and gloss of a coating , maybe for less time but 3-6 months is still very durable , and I can always just to a light polish twice a year , or I do no t have to worry about paint correction if my car gets a bigger scratch with my coating on my bmw , a big scratch meant making an appointment with my detailer to get it fix , because the specific coatings that I purchased was only sold to authorized dealers , a simple car wash was 75 $ , he was kind enough to correct some scratches here and there and re applied the coating , but still that meant 2-3 car washes a year plus 2 appoinment for decontamination ( 150$ each) , nowdays is different , you can buy these products .but still you need to keep a bottle handy and spare towels, a pain in the ass So before you jump on the coating wagon , make sure you look at the real cost . If you are someone that daily the car and doesnt care about swirl marks and light scratches , you just care about the car looking good after every car wash , coating is for you. If you garaged the car coating is for you too. If you want your car looking swirl free and you like to diy , polish your car , twice a year , and you have your own tools , coating may be a pain in the budd. You are probably going to apply a wax or sealant anyways after every car wash , maybe something like beadmaker as a drying aid, so that defeats the purpose of a coating to me at least
Great job Andrew and Big Tony. I just sat thru (not skipped) 2 - 30 second commercials to hopefully get you more monetization rewards! Keep up the awesome work! 😊
Love your vids Andrew! I have ceramic coating on all of my collector cars as well as my daily driver car. The claims these companies make about it never needing to be washed is pure bs. My vehicles get dirty with or without coating. What I like about the ceramic coating is that it gives the vehicle a deeper more glossy shine, and it prevents swirl on the paint as it is a much harder finish than a lot of paints and clear coats used these days which are soft and scratch(swirl) so easily. I like that I have a ceramic barrier on top of my paint/clear. I'm shopping for a Prevost and will probably go with the coating because I like having that extra barrier and the gloss factor.
The first thing a good detailer will tell you is don't get ceramic coating unless you're prepared to wash your vehicle regularly and by that they mean every 2 weeks at least, but it really should be weekly, off course the cars get dirty even with ceramic coating, but I tell you, it's twice as clean after rain, than it was before I had it done, I'm very pleasantly surprised, would recommend it to any one that isn't shy to wash their vehicle regularly!
I think the going rate is around $110 a foot. I feel bad for all of the folks that have been over-promised and have overpaid for these products and are now being let down. Thank you for watching!
Great video man. I just don’t get these ridiculous prices for the ceramic coatings. Now there’s companies that sell detail sprays trying to monopolize on the word “ceramic”. Its crazy people are spending the money for it. A good wash, polish and quality wax is all ya need in my opinion..... Btw, Your videos are are getting better each time you post a new one.
Thank you! Some of the ceramic details raise are cost-effective and kind of like a quick detailer or a spray wax. The word ceramic has been so overhyped in the detail world. I appreciate you being one of my original subscribers and supporters from the start!
RVing with Andrew Steele well we both bought the same exact rigs at the same exact place and both have dogs with the same exact names! how weird is that?? Lol.
As a professional detailer for 20+ years, a ceramic coated vehicle...ANY vehicle...is much easier to wash and care for. I apply the coating and know how to clean it. Don't listen to the owner who thinks he knows more than I do.
Absolutely accurate cause I have worked in a auto spa and all the upchargeing about ceramic coating is all about prep work BUT ALSO 100% the use of the vehicle and RV'S are a waste of money to do that to cause the elements are brutal and it will ALWAYS BE SUBJECT TO WORST CONDITIONS other than all the garage princess out there it was a running joke when they would sell the customer on $1200 ceramic coating
Andrew, speaking for myself, I want to learn as much as I can, and knowing you will give HONEST feedback means so much. Looking forward to more "Reality RV" videos!!!!! Lovein your chennel!!! W
Its amazing how many ceramic or other type products like F11 etc. are popping up in my FB page, all claim to be the last thing you'll ever use, "never wash your vehicle again" etc. One product I love and have used on my black Harley is Wizards Master Shine and their Mist and Shine, Ive had great luck with it but have used it on my bikes since they were brand new and yes they mostly are garage queens lol
You are Idiot. Wash the damn thing like you would any other vehicle or RV..Besides just use PH balance soap. You need to stop giving wrong advice. This video should come down
Ceramic coating has it's benefit's in regards to protection longevity lasting longer than your waxes and sealants but to be honest. I am sick of ceramic coatings and it is overhyped. These other detailers are selling the service and telling them how it lasts 7 years and will never get dirty and it is scratch resistant. Basically making it seem like its a superman coating. And then when someone calls to have their ceramic coated vehicle washed. They are over the top about how it should be washed but yet i have seen tons of ceramic coated vehicles that started to get swirls after 7 months. Im not a big fan as it does complicate the wash process from you regular routine so i actually still love my sealants and waxes. By the way let me add that i feel that ceramic coatings really make water spotting worse and complicates things because i have a ceramic coated vehicle that i brought in from the rain. Fantastic water beading. I didn't drive the vehicle for a few days and came to the vehicle only to see hard water spots. I tried Optimum MDR, Gtechniq water spot remover. Nothing worked so at this point you have to polish it but polishing removes the ceramic coating so now you have to do all the extra work which takes time to polish and re-coat. And i would like to give you a standing ovation to point out that ceramic coatings would be geared more towards people with show cars that barely drive the vehicle. Spending $1400 on ceramic coating on an everyday driven vehicle is just highway robbery. Not sure if you have done ceramic coatings but it also costs you money when you have clients that get a scratch on the car and think you are obligated to repair and re-coat that panel just because they spent $1400 on the coating.
I agree with you. I wish you were in Texas! I had to fire my detail company because he started chasing that ceramic rabbit. Nothing beats quality wash and quality wax. Safe travels.
Thank you sir! I love seeing this comment as it confirms that I made the right decision to not jump on that wagon a decade ago. Hopefully we cross paths sometimes and can deteil your rig!
Or use meguires hybrid paint coating after a wash, clay and polish if the paint needs it and your good for 8-14 months without any toppers and it’s less than $60 bucks and will last years because the product will keep since it’s in a spray can.
Not Quite a Professional Detailer. I have done many vehicles in Ceramic. There are huge advantages and it is not harder for me to clean my vehicles. The glass should be treated same as usual. I don't use de- ionized water and wash in shade. If you want a paint corrected finish the ceramic makes it better. Regular washing will beat up your clear coat.
I understand that ceramic coatings do have some good properties, if you are doing the work yourself an able to get the products for a decent price, it makes sense. This video was geared more towards the people that are tearing people's heads off on RV ceramic coatings. If the vehicle is stored outside, I've noticed the ceramic coatings don't hold up as well as if stored indoors. Thank you for watching and your feedback!
I definitely would like to do some tests and I'm working on setting some up where I watch how the product holds up over time. To get real results, you have to watch the products and how they hold up over time. I will definitely try to get something started soon, just really don't want to waste my money on f11 😂
Rinse, spray soap preferably with foam canon and rinse again without scrubbing or touching the coach and spray more foam now with wherever you use brush or sponge 🧽.
Your vehicle will not be clean until you use a mitt or sponge to disturb the dirt. Thinking you can clean it with simply spraying it whether it's been ceramic coated or not, is just a fantasy!
Or just spray more coats of clear coat which helps your underlying paint. I would go that direction but you honestly can not defend yourself from rock chips.
You can wash that rv all you need is ceramic based soap griots has it many companies do , also ceramic is chemical resistant , and yes you can use a mitten
Hey Andrew, Great Video! I just had a Tiffin Wayfarer built. It has this clear film around the front grill and around the Mercedes entry door handles and few other places. Is that Ceramic coating? If it’s not what you’re speaking of in this video, can you tell me how you feel about this clear film protection that is added to my coach? Thanks Andrew, you and Tony have a good thing going on! Please say hi to Tony! I really value your knowledge and opinion. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and adventures with us.
Thank you for the feedback! Your coach has paint protection film. That is a completely different product and does serve a purpose of protecting from Rock chips. The only bad thing about ppf(paint protection film) is, it has to be replaced every 4-5 years or will start bonding to the paint. It is very labor intensive to take them off but still better then having a front end full of stone chips.
RVing with Andrew Steele Oh, okay.. Well that makes sense. I knew it protected the paint but I didn’t realize it needs to be taken off and new added so the film doesn’t bond to the paint. Thanks Andrew for sharing all your knowledge and adventures with us.
Ceramic coating from what i know is NOT APPLIED TO GLASS, only painted or wrapped vinyl. But ya its just a way to squeeze a few more bucks out of a wax job.
You don't know much in that case, there are ceramic coatings for glass and wheels, but they are different to a paint coating, if you're using a professional grade Ceramic coating that is!
I'm on the fence regarding the effectiveness of ceramic coating. I will say I don't think there is a product that will keep dirt from adhering to your vehicle. So to say ceramic coating is a failure because the coach got dirty is I think simply a comment from a ceramic hater. Does ceramic make clean up easier? If so, then it may be worth it. Will it eliminate ALL bugs? Of course not. It should make the clean up easier --- fewer bugs that require a lot of scrubbing to remove and less work to remove road grime and tar.
Am i wrong to notice the majority of the issues you had with the ceramic coating were on the glass? When a person thinks of ceramic coating its not something where the entire car gets dipped in a magical formula. Ceramic coatings are applied to the paint. Wheel coating and glass coatings are different things. To me it seemed like you made a video to justify to a customer why you are making a couple of extra bucks because they got their rv coated and you want to sell your recurring service to this customer. I could be wrong 🤷♂️
The specific retailer that is being referenced in this video is very reputable. There is only one retailer that has exclusive rights in the US to Sensha (A premium Japanese ceramic product). This retailer coats the entire coach, windows, body and wheels. That being said, I have been leaning towards doing an expensive ceramic coating, but before dropping the dough I’d like to hear feedback from all sides. Not sure what the guy making this video would have to gain, ceramic coated videos still need to be washed. They also seem to require special care instructions from what I can gather.
I found your video while researching ceramic coatings. I just purchased a new dark colored vehicle and was considering getting it coated. What I’m wanting is something to prevent swirls and marring. What would you recommend? I appreciate your honesty.
Thanks Andrew, I was given a quote of $2300 to cramic coat my NewSuper C,I will not be doing that now ! I am going to look into a DI water set up to have at my home and just use my foam canon! I can wash it a lot of times for that much money ! I will just keep it waxed ! Any recommendations of a good wax to use would be great !
Maybe you have a different opinion after 4 years? I would think anything that would make cleaning the front end (especially up high) of your super C easier would be worth it!
Tony, was looking at purchasing F11 to detail my coach. Is that more like a spray protectant? Have you had any experience with it? Typically what do you charge per ft for a wash and wax? Thanks
If you are thinking of buying top coat f11, I would recommend a product called technicians choice ceramic detail spray. It is very similar but if you're buying a whole gallon it's much cheaper and a higher concentration of the chemical that makes it really slick. We do not have set prices as there are tons of different variables as to where we are located and the time of year, supply and demand and so on. typically on a fair-weather day we charge $500 to wash and wax a 40-foot coach or $600 to wash and wax a 45-foot coach. during surge time like Sturgis, those prices will shoot up to $1,000 so that we can keep up with supply and demand.
RVing with Andrew Steele Wow, coach owners have no issue paying that much for a wash and wax? I didn’t know the price was so high to do an rv. I guess the high end coach owners can afford it. Keeps their investment looking good.
F11 is the biggest joke in the detailing world it was like $200/gallon and last 1-2 washes. Literally any product at Walmart would last 4x longer and cost 10x cheaper, literally just silicone and water in a bottle.
Curious what brand of ceramic coating they use that to maintain a ceramic coated car that you need to use Di water...As a detailer dont u use di water to wash or at rinse it with at least so it eliminates any water spots that you would have missed after washing a car? im asking coz most of the mobile detailers that wash cars in our area uses di water and that was their reason they gave, was it marketing or made sense?
Ok maybe I haven't heard the news..But why would you need to use deionized water? Also were the windows actually coated? Also you make it sound like if you ceramic coat it that you don't need to wash your car...Where are you hearing this from? or are your customers telling you that is what the detail dealer told them? Since you are being honest here, why not mention what product is used? Not all coatings are equal and I know there are many who have test products over time on durability. $100 a foot? $20k to do an RV?? Ok, that is INSANE!!! I do agree if people are paying that much, they are getting screwed! Many coatings I have seen only claim a max protection of 2 years.
If you listen to the guy talk in the video he is a Rv washer and the type that love to use brushes to quickly clean but at the same time create damage on the paint by creating scratches with the bristles on the brush… hand washing yeah takes more time but also less damaging to the paint cause it least aggressive
I hate "coating" companies like this. A quality coating wouldn't have you use a special spray to wash with or have to use deionized water. Like just wash it with ph neutral soap or if it's been neglected do a decontamination wash with a harsher soap and an iron remover if needed to bring back the beading aspect. I agree with you though that you shouldn't have to fix stubborn spots especially with it only be 2 months old. Wish you got to experience something of better quality to give feedback on, at least for ceramic coatings as a whole.
Thank you, I plan on doing some coating tests very soon and sharing them with the TH-cam channel. this was filmed on the fly but I hope to discover some better products and share them here. Thank you for watching!
@@RVingwithAndrewSteele No problem! I'd say pretty much the same stuff you said if I experienced something like this detailing haha. It really was pathetic (coating experience wise) in my opinion. If you're interested since you mentioned about discovering better products and sharing them. I can try to help you get exposed to one that I prefer and honestly they may have some products you like. The waterspot remover is the best one I have used so far.
@@jtq007 I don't have any experience with any of their products but I've heard great things over and over in all of the detail forums. I have a pretty good arsenal of old-school tricks that works really well for me and I'm always leery of investing in all of the latest and greatest detail chemicals because I've wasted so much money over the years...
That's a crappy ceramic coating. I foam cannon and rince my car. Thats it. Every now and then I have to get the mitt out for a stubborn bug or bird crap. I'm just saying from my personal experience.
This. I can never go back to regular wax. This guy really doesnt understand not to mention its probably a bad application. Ceramic coating an RV would be a huge task
Have you ever used the product called Top Coat F-11? Is it considered a ceramic coating that you do not like to see used on RV's? I wish you were not thousands of miles away.
F11 is literally the worst product in the detailing world lol, if you want cheap go with turtle wax seal and shine, best bang for the buck and can get it anywhere.
Are there any wash/wax after treatments you do recommend for paint/gloss protection, or to increase time between waxing (maybe that don't require DI water)?
If hard water is left to dry on the surface it will leave spots on anything no matter what’s on the paint and especially ceramic coatings because the beads of water are taller and are like a magnifying glass and heat and dry the water leaving behind the particulates in the water and it literally etches and corrodes the clear coat and can cause permanent damage, wash a section at a time using a waterless wash or wash normally and do a section and use an air dryer to blow the water off before it dries, only way around it or ryno line the whole thing and spray if off once a year.
Were the windows actually coated? It usually does not play well on glass, but my bigger question is what pro detailer washes with a circular motion or puts a microfiber drying towel on the ground to pick up the debris that might not all wash out to just scratch a vehicle later? YIKES, sry, but not much attention to detail.
We definitely do not leave any microfibers on the ground but they do get dropped from time to time. when trying to get bugs off of a ceramic coating and we're not able to use bug remover I would wash in a circular motion. I don't know why they wouldn't put a coating on the Windows if they coat the rest of the coach. I recommend you watch my video titled a message to the haters. You definitely fall in the hater category 😂
@@RVingwithAndrewSteele Not hating, just making a comment. Sorry you can't it. Also, I clearly state that some ceramics do not play well on glass, so that would be the reason, spots on the glass but not he coach is an indication. I would not ceramic a gel coat, but hey each their own. You also did not state if they actually maintained the coating, which it looks like they did not. Again, not a hater, did not indicate that. Turn off comments if you're only looking for fanboy comments, and circular motions...never...smfh.
@@firemannss as I stated in the video, the coating is 2 months old. Do you have experience in applying ceramic coatings? Have you ever applied ceramic coating to a gel coat? Thank you for sharing your wisdom on the glass.
@@RVingwithAndrewSteele Yes I have, and no I would not put one on my RV because it would not get maintained enough. Maybe they did not polish the gel coat? Who knows? Gel and clear coats are basically the same thing, but I've found that my RV gel coat is quicker to oxidize usually. meh, who knows.
My man! Love your videos! We have a 2019 s class 5th wheel and I'm glad we didn't spend the money to put a ceramic coating on it. What kind of wax do you recommend for our 5th wheel? Don't change a thing!
Thank you sir! I like meguiars d301 finishing wax. The mother's synthetic sealant works well as well. There are a ton of great waxes on the market but those seem to be a good value. If your rig is gel coat with decals, a ceramic coating may help prevent oxidation. This video was geared more towards full body paint rigs. I do not have a ton of experience with ceramic coatings on gelcoat and decal so I don't want to steer you the wrong way. I will definitely try to get some more information on fifth wheel gel coats that were ceramic coated several years ago. Oxidation is a huge problem that you may be up against so you may want not want to count out a ceramic coating. I wish I had more knowledge to share with you.
@@TheSixer211 just spoke with a very reputable detailer and he said you definitely do not want to ceramic coat gel coat because it will fail and still oxidize. I hope that helps you!
What is the cost to buff the gelcoat when it starts to oxidize? Big money! A ceramic coating is way better in the long-term. It seals, repels, it has UV protection and lasts way longer then a wax. It's it expensive? Yes but it is something you can do yourself and save a lot of money. For around $600 you can apply it yourself and add a 9H layer of protection to your investment. I noticed one of your complaints was you couldn't get the soap to stick, it just ran off 🤔🤦♂️ that alone tells you something. What is the cost to have someone wax your motorhome? A few times a year?
Ha! The car wash guy doesn't believe in Ceramic Coating. It's the same comparison as Vaping vs cigarette companies......a new better product comes out that cuts into their business so now the first monopoly has to bash the second product. Side note, that lady got ripped off on that cheap Chinese coating.
I don't know what you're talking about! Spraying a coated vehicle with a pressure washer and expecting it to be clean is ludicrous really. Every vehicle I get from now on will be ceramic coated as it makes a world of difference!
I don't think the windshield was ceramic-coated or the rims just body ceramic coating in my opinion works well however you could treat it like a regular wax I don't think it needs special treat it wears off over a. Of time just like a wax just takes long it seals better at least the usage that I've been doing and I think you're too opinionated on the dislike of ceramic coating so you shouldn't be doing a video discrediting ceramic coating because you do not have a neutral View
If cleaning a coach with ceramic coating is such a pain in the butt then just don’t accept the job. No sense bitching about it. If you want to stay stuck in the past then look for more horse and buggy units to work on.
Ceramic coatings are mostly for UV protection and water beading.. minerals in the water are still gonna leave water spots .. the water your using probably sucks that's why it's leaving spots lol people think the coatings are like a magical "clear bra" but it's not .. sounds like they fell for the sales pitch lol
You’re a “premier detailer” but don’t know how to care for ceramic coating or use a ceramic coat maintenance spray?? ROFL, ok. And no, I’m not a detailer or a retailer. Just a car owner with a ceramic coating . I’m in the ag business...if I can learn, YOU certainly should!
Ive seen a video where a coating lasted years vs other coatings. This test is just not scientific enough. Im trying to side with you but I just cant this is too goofy too bias.
She was poorly informed, the installer and or the coating company shouldn’t be in the game. Coatings really should go on an RV unless it’s going to get washed once a month or so. The glass should only be coated with a dedicated glass coating and work awesome. Tons of shady companies out there. I would like to know the brand, only about 8 out of hundreds of companies that I trust the coating and claims. If someone is going to apply a professional ceramic coating the minimum amount of prep is wash, clay, polish and a prep spray then coat, if any of those are not used then the coating will NOT perform or last. Look at other folk that have had it done here on the tube and you’ll see the difference.
Thats a horrible ceramic coat if she even has one. It seems to me that someone sold her some BS and all she really got was a spray coat from your local WalMart.
Poor prep, product and application. If it was applied at all. We have done over 700 applications. There is always some jackass that calls himself a pro but knows nothing about the product they sell or apply. Good evaluation on your end.
What a load of rubbish, I've go my car Ceramic coated it's never garaged and I've never come across these issues! Then again I have got the best pro coating on the market Ceramic Pro. Ps. I'm not a detailer
If you think that ceramic pro is the best in the market you honestly are so gullible to the pop up add and the people who sell that product… they are over expensive and promise more that it actually do… one thing they have is a very good marketing team… anyone can become an installer as long as you pay money with no training
"ceramic" coating are nothing but snake oil. every few years there is yet another "miracle" coating that is hawked at high prices. what's hilarious is that someone paid big bucks to coat what is actually a very low-end coach with a poor resale value.
I never believe in any coating or shields on vehicles. The auto paint makers worked hard to improve quality and these 'coatings' just come out say auto paints are garbage. Nah..
Yep you just lost it lol. If you don’t know what the purpose is then change careers. Like trying to convince a 2 year old that cookies come from cookie dough lol.
I agree ceramic coating is a coating which requires and ceramic sealant every 4 months to perform😂😂😂😂😂😂 A coating which requires another coating😂😂😂 DETAILING SCAM OF THE CENTURY Just use a $10 wax-sealant every 3-4 months
I would bet that every dislike is from a detailer that has been making high profits from ceramic coatings 😂
Ceramic coating may not be good for big vehicles like RVs and other rigs but for normal sedans coupes etc ceramic coating is a definite win

I was thinking the same thing. The problems that were pointed out were on the glass which was not ceramic coated.
I love my ceramic coating. Our fifth wheel looks amazing. Life is so much easier now washing our Riverstone.
For car people a proper drying process isn't that big of a deal, but for non car people who were sucked in by ceramic coating marketing, having to dry your car after every wash is probably viewed as a pain in the a**
@@derek723 100% correct. He even said this is not the best application for the product
@@jackdominiak445 You believe ceramic coating prevents water spotting?
I had 3 cars ceramic coated, and just either hand wash them or run them through a car wash, and they look great. No issues at all.
Thank you! I've had a lot of pressure over the last decade to push these products but will never sell a product I don't believe in.
If you only spent 8 hours, you haven't prepared it properly, you're both clueless on Ceramic coatings
@@jackdominiak445 lol. How exactly do you prep the surface sir. Please explain.
I enjoyed my coating for the first 5 years, because I just washed the car and it always looked like it had a wax applied on it, however now I m more OCD about swirl marks and scratches , therefore I find it hard to justify a coating , specially now that there are so many products that are much easier to apply that will give you the same look or even better for much much cheaper, and they will give you the advantage of correction paint , doing light polish once a year or twice a year so the car looks great under different lighting
I m finding it much easier with my other cars to just apply a sealant ( 3-6 months) and something like beadmaker as a drying aid every car wash , or every 2 car washes, the level of shine and slickness of bead maker beats more ceramic coatings anyways and the price for a gallon is just out of this world cheap , also a good sealant is cheaper and easier to apply , gives you same protection and gloss of a coating , maybe for less time but 3-6 months is still very durable , and I can always just to a light polish twice a year , or I do no t have to worry about paint correction if my car gets a bigger scratch
with my coating on my bmw , a big scratch meant making an appointment with my detailer to get it fix , because the specific coatings that I purchased was only sold to authorized dealers , a simple car wash was 75 $ , he was kind enough to correct some scratches here and there and re applied the coating , but still that meant 2-3 car washes a year plus 2 appoinment for decontamination ( 150$ each) , nowdays is different , you can buy these products .but still you need to keep a bottle handy and spare towels, a pain in the ass
So before you jump on the coating wagon , make sure you look at the real cost .

Can’t imagine the cost of ceramic coating a coach. My buddy paid $800 to have his small pick up truck coated. Not for me. Appreciate your honesty.
I think the going rate is around $110 a foot. I feel bad for all of the folks that have been over-promised and have overpaid for these products and are now being let down. Thank you for watching!

Never heard a detailer make those claims, if you believe that kind of crap, than you're just plain stupid 😡

Another excellent pro tip...
Thank you James!
You are a detailer and dont know how you wash paint sealed with ceramic coating? Also, many times, detailers dont seal glass.
Hi Andrew. do you still share this opinion on ceramics, since you made this video 4 years ago?
Forget what he recommends do the ceramic coating u won't regret it ceramic probably isn't good for RVs but it sure as hell is for regular cars
Chemical guys mirror wet wax. I have a video titled pro RV Wash tips that shares a lot of great information
Great video. I thought the ceramic coating was to protect the paint and finish.
Yes but they are sold that they have self cleaning abilities.
Thank you!
Good to know !

Are there any wash/wax after treatments you do recommend for paint/gloss protection, or to increase time between waxing (maybe that don't require DI water)?
Everything requires d.i. water in my opinion. Even the ceramic coatings recommend d.i water .
@@RVingwithAndrewSteele but is there any after treatment you do recommend?
If hard water is left to dry on the surface it will leave spots on anything no matter what’s on the paint and especially ceramic coatings because the beads of water are taller and are like a magnifying glass and heat and dry the water leaving behind the particulates in the water and it literally etches and corrodes the clear coat and can cause permanent damage, wash a section at a time using a waterless wash or wash normally and do a section and use an air dryer to blow the water off before it dries, only way around it or ryno line the whole thing and spray if off once a year.
Good for you keep it on the up and up make a deal on sell scrub mitts and wash clothes
Can you recommend a portable water deionizer?
A company called spotless has a model called the simple Chuck that is really good but pretty expensive.

YIKES, sry, but not much attention to detail.
We definitely do not leave any microfibers on the ground but they do get dropped from time to time. when trying to get bugs off of a ceramic coating and we're not able to use bug remover I would wash in a circular motion.
@@firemannss I've talked to a few professionals about this and will have a video coming out soon talking about applying ceramic coatings to gel coat
Thank you!
No ceramic coating for us. Do you have to special order ceramic. No need for answer. Thank you 🤠👍
Smart move!
There's a bunch of different ways to buy that product
Ha! The car wash guy doesn't believe in Ceramic Coating. It's the same comparison as Vaping vs cigarette companies......a new better product comes out that cuts into their business so now the first monopoly has to bash the second product. Side note, that lady got ripped off on that cheap Chinese coating.
I don't like ceramic coating but if it was ceramic coated you wash it like you normaly do and then you apply ceramic wax and that would do the job
Is rain deionized?
Uhm. There is no way that ceramic coating would make this harder. Deionized water doesn’t make a difference.
If cleaning a coach with ceramic coating is such a pain in the butt then just don’t accept the job. No sense bitching about it. If you want to stay stuck in the past then look for more horse and buggy units to work on.
Deionized water, you say.. so what happens when she gets rain water on the camper? 🤔😂
My goodness, it probably cost a fortune to ceramic coat a 38 footer!
Nasty comment for sure, did you see any instructions on that bottle?
Ive seen a video where a coating lasted years vs other coatings. This test is just not scientific enough. Im trying to side with you but I just cant this is too goofy too bias.
Check a more recent video that I just posted showing an update on ceramic coatings.
You need to do your reasearch because your miles off on info.
Who is right!
Dude, you clearly don’t understand ceramic coatings. Some one has lied to you about their purpose and function
"ceramic" coating are nothing but snake oil. every few years there is yet another "miracle" coating that is hawked at high prices. what's hilarious is that someone paid big bucks to coat what is actually a very low-end coach with a poor resale value.
It’s a waste of money
WTF? Is rain deionized? What a joke....
Maybe you need a new career.....
Probably the most incompetent “detailer” I’ve came across on TH-cam.
elaborate, because hes pretty opinionated and he has valid points. I bet you paid thousands for a ceramic coating.
Cowboys 😏
I never believe in any coating or shields on vehicles. The auto paint makers worked hard to improve quality and these 'coatings' just come out say auto paints are garbage. Nah..
Yep you just lost it lol. If you don’t know what the purpose is then change careers. Like trying to convince a 2 year old that cookies come from cookie dough lol.
I agree ceramic coating is a coating which requires and ceramic sealant every 4 months to perform😂😂😂😂😂😂
A coating which requires another coating😂😂😂
DETAILING SCAM OF THE CENTURY
Just use a $10 wax-sealant every 3-4 months
Topcoat F11. Apply once and never have to wash your vehicle again.
🤣🤣🤣
@@RVingwithAndrewSteele Glad you picked up on that sarcasm. Lol
This foo is a joke
