    I had to become 26 years old to realise that yes, crop tops and cropped shirts are for chubby people as well, but I eventually got the hang of it this summer and now I love wearing them.

    The big sequins are called paillettes! They’re usually flat and sewn from a hole at the edge rather than in the centre, which means they’ll hang with gravity rather than being stuck to whichever curve they’re on, it’s like fringing vs embroidery! One is attached all over and one hangs and flows

      Look for tencel or lyocell if you want the chambray / denim look but in a super soft fabric.

    speaking of denim jackets, i used to hate them but then discovered that i can shop in men’s section and that changed everything. they’re roomier, much more comfortable, my arms aren’t restricted, love it

    I'm pretty sure that denim is often made from cotton, even the thick stuff, so the thinner cotton version you described would still be classed as denim...I think

    • @user-iw4yl7fp9p

      Right? Denim IS cotton, the stiffer the denim, the higher the cotton percentage

    • @rowan6650
      @rowan6650 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Denim is made of cotton, absolutely. The thing that makes true denim vs denim look alikes different is the weave of the fabric. Denim uses a twill weave (if you look closely at denim, you’ll see that yarns go diagonally) which tends to be thicker and sturdier. Unsurprising, given that denim was originally used as a work coverall fabric for manual laborers, though back in the day their denim items were so stiff they could stand up on their own easily. Denim industry/denim purists will also say that true denim has at least some of the fibers dyed with indigo dye; that’s what gives it the “denim blue” look. But obviously we can use the same weaving and yarn types to make colorful jeans, black jeans, etc. denim look alikes tend to be plainly woven (one over/one under with the yarns, with the yarns being totally vertical or totally horizontal) and use thinner yarns, so they’re much thinner, less “rough” feeling, and take less time to dry. They mainly get the “denim look” from the dye they use.

      @@rowan6650 thank you, was about to comment that denim is a type of cotton fabric. Think ppl underestimate the amount of different textures you can get from one type of fibre

    This is perfect timing. During lockdown I gained so much weight I went up a size (or two, idk actually). I'm trying to embrace it and trying to find clothes that actually fit me and make me feel comfortable and beautiful and are also sustainable! I'm excited to build a capsule wardrobe with the stuff that does still fit and with some new exciting pieces :)

      Yup. It was a banner day about a month ago, when I stopped shaming myself for the pandemic weight gain, and bought the correct pant size I needed *now*. And when I also admitted to myself, that I'd been wearing at least a size too small in (stretchy) pants in general, for a looong time.

    About two years ago I made a deal with myself that when it comes to clothing I’m only allowed to buy things I can’t make myself. I’m quite pleased with fact that since then I’ve bought a pair of dungarees (from a sustainable brand), a knitted jumper and a handful of ties (from second hand stores) and everything else I’ve made myself (It makes one think a bit more about that feeling of needing something when you have to do the work yourself)

    Also denim jackets, try the sort that has sweatshirt sleeves I've got one of them and they're def more comfortable than the average denim jacket also often have the bonus of having a hood
    Also another tip is if you want to wear crop tops but aren't totally comfortable with having your stomach on show or want to cover up a little bit in a lowcut or sleeveless shirt, mesh tops are amazing to wear underneath things like that, and you can find ones with fun patterns on them I've got one with cobwebs on it and another one with stars for example.

    I love the silk dresses. When you wear them you look so well put together. If i were to wear something like that it would probably look like i was wearing a dressing gown. 🤷 How do you make it look like you didn't just wake up and forget to get dressed for the day?

    Your capsule wardrobes are always my favorite because you don't just pair a bunch of basics. I mean, there's nothing won't with that, but it's not me.

    I love your sense of style. It's so fun. It's almost always pretty different from my own, but it suits you and your personality so well and looks amazing on you.
