    A well earned job,funny how they didn’t know how to keep the monster truck on the road but had a million thoughts on how to recover it. Stay safe Mr Pratt.

      I don't know exactly what or how it all happened, but I can't judge anyone. I was a wild 16 year old with a big engine and the need for speed as Lightning McQueen says. LOL. I survived thankfully. They were having a bad enough time and at least no one was injured. Thanks for watching and God bless.

    I think that's one of the reasons Holmes came up with the split boom wrecker design. It allowed the operator to anchor the wrecker to the appropriate tree with one boom and the other boom to the wreck. It was a revolutionary design in the old days before things like hydraulic telescoping outriggers. The Holmes 750 was one of the best wreckers back in it's day and some are still being used today.

    If you look real close at the road, you can see his tracks from the night before. Based on age of the driver, temp tags, and a night event, my guess would be some Cowboy Cadillac drifting in the turns LOL Nice job getting him out with no additional damage.

      The foolishness of youth could be to blame but Once upon a time in my teenage years, while driving in the dark I went onto the wrong side of a road while dodging a Black Angus in the road then I saw two more and dodge to the right to clear them. After missing all dumb cows I went well over the white line but had a good hard shoulder instead of a big drop off to play with and thus didn't need a tow.

(out in the country as well as residential areas on hills- and even middle of busy freeways... with all lanes of traffic open except the one I was in.. ) Had a little rich gal had missed a curve once and her mercedes was actually UP in a tree.. and she was screaming for me to get it out WITHOUT SCRATCHING THE PAINT!!! ha. yeah right. I got it out- but it DID have scratches and dents here and there- but considering where it was damage was VERY minor. She thought it could be done PERFECTLY so "Daddy wouldn't know".. ..not possible.. :)

    Ron, when you are exposed to Poison Ivy, take a soaking bath in Aveno ASAP. My son is also highly allergic (if pollen was in the air, he would develop a rash) to Poison Ivy and was exposed frequently at my grandfather's home (he lived on a river). His pediatrician told us about Aveno. It really helped him.

      I was thinking the same. I’m young as well but with something like this, I would let the person I called to do this, do their thing. I can understand wanting to help but if you called someone like Ron to do this, then that means you couldn’t do this yourself so best to let the professionals handle it.

    • @TowMan127
      @TowMan127 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@gianmangili I definitely agree with letting the person you called get the job done. I’ve dealt with customers that always want to help and I’d have to tell them to stop a few times. I once had to tell a person respectfully to let me do my job or I’ll have to leave their vehicle alone. I know some people want to help but they can be more of a danger than helpful.

    Ron's focus on safety is impressive. I was watching another "tow" channel (really just a couple of guys playing with old heavy trucks) and they did so many things that violated several of Ron's basic safety considerations that Ron has showed us. They just hooked a cable to one point on the off-the-road wrecked car and yanked it up the hill. No geometry for leverage. One guy literally straddled the pull cable as they pulled the car up (that sure woulda hurt if the cable snapped). They drove the tow truck along the road as part of pulling the wrecked car up. The final yank on the wrecked car caused the wrecked car to collide with the side of the tow truck.

    I did that years ago in a 89 nissan 4x4. Off in a ditch I went in pouring rain on a dirt road that turned to mud. Nose dived in water and it killed the engine and wouldn't start. So luckily a policeman drove by I explained what happened. I wasn't playing around the road was just so sloppy and i lost it. Cop called our local wrecker who came and yanked me out. Only charged me like 50 bucks. And once out of the water and up on the road it started luckily. No ticket because I deliberately didn't go off roading but I sure got lucky and learned a lesson

    I really love the variety of your vids Ron. I suspect that the young truck owner felt somewhat embarrassed,, but that’s what happens when you push your luck with centrifugal force.
    Hopefully, that’s his first and last excursion off road . Using the tree as a pivot to drag the truck out of the ditch, was pure genius. Stay safe Ron. Best Wishes from the UK

    Once upon a time while driving in the dark I went onto the wrong side of a road while dodging a Black Angus in the road then I saw two more and dodge to the right to clear them. After missing all dumb cows I went well over the white line but had a good hard shoulder instead of a big drop off to play with and thus didn't need a tow.

    I got poison ivy while working in hay once for a farmer up here in the country. He took me to an old man way up in the mountains and the old man mixed up something and told me to drink it QUICK and then eat the piece of bread quick so it wouldn't "come back " on me. I did- and went home-- My fingers swelled together, couldn't breathe and all that. BUT- Next morning it was completely gone- and now I can walk over and roll around in it and it doesn't bother me any more. He said it was tincture of Mandrake root...and a little rye whiskey. (couple spoon full)... Well- I don't know what Mandrake is or does- but I've NEVER had problem with poison ivy since.!!!

      I was clearing a wooded area to build my house and the ground was covered in poison Ivy. Days on end I would work in and around it and even though allergic never once got any. Then came to realize I was immediately showering before going to work and my tolerance was such that I never broke out. Had I been at it all day before showering it probably would have been a different story. I like your success.

    If you like these channels as I do, Sumter Wrecker, another good channel, has a Holmes 750 split boom (great design) that they put in action from time to time. Fun to see those old mechanical wreckers in action. A 750 would likely have been ideal here. Sumter Wrecker does have a neat video of the 750 in action.
