I’ve done this job a million times before, I only watched it to see the home made ball joint separation tool.. I wasn’t disappointed!!! Nice!

      Thanks for the comment.
The tool is a handy bit of kit, feels much safer to use this with a car on the lift than a long bar, and it also holds the wishbone in whatever position it has been adjusted to.

Wow I like that custom wishbone tool very clever best I've seen, Ive been using a long bar for years. I finally got round to buying myself a hockey stick type one makes life so much easier! Great video

Hi James, thanks for the comment.
I had been using the long bar for quite some time but never liked using it with the car up on the lift there was always a theoretical risk of levering the car off, that and the damage it could cause to the underseal on whatever edge the bar pivoted against. The hockey stick tools though do look like they are much more controlled than a long bar.

I have the berlingo which is basically a Xsara so handy video. Nice to see a fellow Parkside user.

Can't beat the middle of lidl for a good bargain haha.
It should be the same or very similar on a berlingo as I was told the hub I got from the scrapyard had been removed from a berlingo.

For the price you can't go wrong, the mains angle grinder is class not too many ones at the £20 mark with variable speed, i had a bit of welding and flap disk work to do to sill on this xsara (you might just see the lift pad sank a bit too much into the sill in this video) and the angle grinder performed very well, its about 4 years old now.

Berlingo, Xsara and Peugeot 306 share the same parts. That's the free hint I'm giving you if you want Coilovers

Two questions: Hammering straight to the end of the CV joint? That could lead to issues reinstalling the axle nut due to a mushroomed tip.
Pulling the ball joint when you could have undone the three bolts holding the ball joint in? Much easier to do this if it's a one person job with no special tooling.
    Everything else was great!

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV

      Hi thanks for the questions.
The hammer being used at 7:42 is a rubber faced hammer it is a much softer material than the CV joint so you could in theory hit it all day with that hammer and not do any damage to the tip. However if you used a steel hammer then yes there would be a strong risk of damaging the threads.
To be brutally honest i had just finished making that puller and wanted an excuse to use it haha. The 3 bolts at the bottom do normally come out although with the age of this xantia they can be inclined to snap.

@@peugeotCitroen2CV Thanks for the response! That puller looks like a right handy piece of kit.
      Keep up the great work!.

Also you forgot the fact that not all 3 are always bolts, sometimes they are riveted in place depending on where you buy wishbone arms from. I grinded them off once to install 3 bolts and nuts for easy replacement, but after looking at prices for entire lower control arm I don't think I will ever repeat the process. Cheap enough and hassle free to just buy entire arm and you get the benefit of new bushings.
