    So many ideas for upcycling old jeans & denim! It is not an easy fabric to work with but a fav of mine & I am very proud of the results. A few yrs ago, i made applicate monogramed market bags for family xmas gifts.... they use them for beach, weekend, diaper & work/lunch bags. A labour of love as most of the jeans were donated by them my upcycle projects.

      I agree, it can be difficult sewing through all the layers when upcycling & avoiding those rivets! What a lovely idea making bags out the families jeans & then giving them back to them 🤗

      @@Frugalisama Hi Sam, thought I'd pass on an email I got today about a new pattern with proceeds to charity: Elbe Textiles with the Buckley Tote is similar to my market bag with cost at $2.50 US. Good for patched together denim. Hope this is ok to pass along here, if not just delete. elbetextiles.com.au/products/buckley-tote-digital-sewing-pattern.

    I made slippers from old jeans and a brushed cotton shirt, best slippers ever, will never buy any again.

      I’m definitely going to give a pair a go, I wear the bootie style ones all year round and the ones I’m wearing now have come apart at the front and are losing the ‘sole’ from the inside so they look like they’ve got tongues hanging out 🤣

      Thanks Alisa, they’re quite cropped on me, so I lengthened my 2nd pair & had to take a smidge out of the crotch but a good pattern, I’m wearing them now as it happens 🤗

    Lots of inspiration here Sam! I’ve got the tops of the 3 pairs of jeans left over from making the Sorrento and I have a couple of ideas - but good to get some more ideas! Brilliant! 👍😁

    • @Frugalisama
      @Frugalisama  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hiya Lynne, your Sorrento was fab, it's always harder to use the tops of the jeans & harder to sew through too!

    I have 3 large bags full of old jeans from my family but my list of future patterns is so long and getting longer every week. I really like the idea of making a jean jacket or jeans out of jeans. And maybe bleaching and dyeing the denim, making lots of fun colours not just shades of blue.

    • @Frugalisama
      @Frugalisama  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes that would be great Natalie, getting really creative with the dying & bleaching, it's something I keep planning to do but know it'll be a messy process!

    Today I was wearing a me made button up twill skirt and while looking at it I came up with the idea of creating one with different colours of denim or twill as it has two panels on each front and three panels at the back. It would work well out of upcycled denim too.

    • @Frugalisama
      @Frugalisama  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ooh yes anything with panels will lend itself really well to upcycling 🤗

    Hi, do you mean that sewover50 says we cant upcycled something into curtains etc or that we cant make something from old curtains? Because I'm making something from curtains 😅

    • @Frugalisama
      @Frugalisama  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hiya, you can definitely make something from old curtains but they are asking that what you make is a garment or a wearable accessory 🤗
