This jacket is inspiring me to be more sustainable! It’s making me look at what things I throw away that can be given a second life instead. This year for sure I will be making small changes by cutting old T-shirt’s into strips for yarn projects! ❤️ 🧶

I love this! I have a lot of jeans that don't fit me anymore so I wanna try doing this too; you always show off such great thrift flip ideas!
One of my sustainability goals this year is to try to build outfits I will actually wear just out of the things in my closet - and if I find something I won't wear, then I'm going to try and flip them so I don't need to buy more fast fashion clothes or tons of fabric for sewing!

My sustainable goals are to use what I already own. Buy only what I really need. When I buy focus on second hand first. If it needs to be bought new buy high quality/ sustainably/ ethically made so the item lasts.
My friend group is going to start doing clothing exchanges too! Help find new homes for good clothes and help lessen the load for our local thrift shops.

I hope that not driving and instead using a bike, public transportation, and my own two legs will help make an impact on the environment. I am putting off getting a car as long as I can possibly do so (which, so far, has saved me a TON of money and is only a minor inconvenience). Beautiful jacket! 🤩 You are so inspiring! I like to sew (definitely not as advanced as you but I would love to learn more!) and I've always been a DIYer, thrifter, furniture refinisher and hand-me-downer, but I've never really put much thought into the thrifting aspect of sewing so this year as I learn more sewing techniques I want to complete more projects by using old clothes or other fabric items. I did find some kid curtains at a yard sale that I've been meaning to repurpose into a basketball shaped blanket for my son so I'll start there and try to work my way up. I find your videos should be easy to follow along with as I do so, so thank you!

One small thing that I like to do, is keep a bowl by my sewing machine to hold all the threads that I cut off during my sewing projects, and reuse them as stuffing! Sometimes I even find pieces of seam-ripped thread long enough for some small hand-sewn projects! Win-win!

I am in the process of saying good bye to my extra weight and am down 20# so far. To reduce my carbon footprint I am upcycling some of my clothes and donating the one that are still in great shape.

This year I look more after myself in terms of how I act throughout the day. I tent to leave lights on when I leave rooms and often grab packaged vegetables instead of loose ones. Stuff like that is easy to change and my first step to work on. As well as emotional behavior like shopping things I don't actually need, shower too long when I had a bad day.

Hi, I love this jacket! what a cool project. This year I am going to focus on reducing my food waste to help the environment. After moving out of my parents house, I don't always eat through all the food I buy so I am going to start meal planning and having scrappy meal days at least once a week
I am so guilty of this too! I'll definitely work on not wasting so much food this year as well! 😊

I found your channel about a year ago when I stumbled across the reformation videos, and it has really inspired me to try and learn how to sew! I’ve always wanted to but been very intimidated and unsure where to start, and your videos showed me that I have to be patient with myself and it’ll all be worth it. This year, my initial goal is to get a machine and learn to do alterations to some items I already have that need a little TLC. That way I’m falling back in love with my pieces and lessening my desire to buy new! ❤

Beautiful jacket!💖I have been sewing garments for myself and my family. I try to explain to my family how ‘fast fashion is so bad’ So far it is working! My teenage granddaughter is loving her new handmade items and that is a huge plus!

I’ve recently tried to limit my food waste. I’m 24, and I live with only one roommate and we don’t eat that much food although we usually share meals. Also, I only know how to cook the Puerto Rican recipes my grandma taught me, and they are all in bulk, which often leads to food waste. I’ve recently started sharing all my meals with friends and family that don’t live with me to reduce waste. I bought a bunch of mason jars and tupperwear and every week I drive to my dad and stepmom’s place and bring them pantry staples and fresh dishes, and they give me back my old tupperwear all washed and ready for the next week. I also do it with my friends and coworkers and they’ve started giving me some of their own leftovers too so we have this huge food-sharing community, and it’s given me a great excuse to see the people I love more often. It also helps me save money on food so it’s been so great!

Hi! Hopefully I make it in time for the giveaway 😎 My family has a veggie garden in the backyard! We make sure to reduce food waste by using coffee grounds, egg shells, etc to fertilize our soil. We also made a natural decomposer where we throw our food waste in to use for the garden as well. My husband and I are huge on donating and thrift shopping! A new habit I’ve been trying to pick up on is unplugging electronics that is not in use such as my PC or lamp. We have stopped purchasing plastic water bottles! It is inconvenient at times since I was used to picking up a bottle on the go, but it’s definitely reduced a lot of plastic usage at our home ☺️
So many great ways to help our planet! 🥰 The one thing I want to do this year is learn to garden. I've tried before but I'm really crap with plants 😩 Any tips?

My tip: save your glass jars from olives, jelly or other things like that for storage! Put them in the dishwasher and the label comes off super easily 😁 this jacket is stunning and your attention to detail is insane! 🤩

I have been holding onto lots of pieces that need mending but are too small for my current body, I love the beautiful pattern you created here and am inspired to try my hand at a patchwork project too! In 2023 we are going plastic free in our house! No trash bags, ziplocs, plastic packaging, etc! I've only recently gotten into patchwork and I absolutely love it! I can get pretty sentimental about pieces of clothing that are now too small for me and I don't want to get rid of them so patch working has really change the game for me! ♥️ And going plastic free is so amazing! @littletoh yes! It’s so satisfying - my favorite easy switch so far has been using paper grocery bags as our trash bag - we are very careful about what goes in the trash and since we never put food scraps in there’s no need for a plastic bag anymore 👍👍
Wow I hope to consume less clothes including thrifting it's so easy to over buy. So January I'm challenging myself to not buy any clothes. Also I'm a sewist and upcycler so I too need to sew through my stash of upcycle clothing fabric and textiles. Also just get my life organized especially my craft supplies.

I've finally bought my first sewing machine and since learning the basics from TH-cam hasn't worked, I've decided to hire a teacher to teach me seamstress skillz (with a z, so you know they'll be legit). My goal is to make amazing clothes so my teenagers will stop throwing away their money on store-made duds. Luckily, they are beyond down like James Brown and are so excited right alongside me, lol. 💯💯💯

The pattern on this jacket is so pretty! The effort you put into it really showed. I'm not very good at sewing, but these videos inspire me to improve. Speaking of improving, I am hoping to use the buses on campus more instead of my car to get around and I would also like to make better use of the compost program I have at my apartment building.

I really enjoy makeup. Since 2016, I’ve accumulated a lot of makeup. I feel that I have enough makeup now, so I want to not buy any new makeup unless I need a refill/replacement (for example, finishing a blush before buying a new one). That way I am not contributing to wasteful overconsumption and actually getting use out of the things I own.

This year as a military spouse living overseas, I have the opportunity of becoming career and education mentor. I am glad to hopefully give the guidance and support military spouses sometimes do not have and help them achieve their goals and dreams without feeling like the obstacle of living overseas and not having access to many educational resources and job opportunities is going to keep them away from achieving great things!
