I lived at Rosemount 1965-1970, Many happy memories of then brand new Wallington Square and the free alarm clock from the Town Hall chimes. Much is still familiar from looking at the video and yes it's a shame if the Town Hall goes....same could be said for some of the local churches - price of progress I suppose
Town Hall is still there; I don’t think it was ever under threat Wallington Public Hall has recently been demolished, though, and flats are being built on the site
Who remembers in the early 90's when the kid that lived in bottom left side of Woodcote House @0:13 got high and shot the house up with a double barrel shotgun? 🤣
this is great except that Wallington hasn`t been in Surrey since 1965, when the boundaries changed ,it`s in Greater London ,in the London Borough of Sutton . ( before anyone says the address is Surrey , its only because it was deemed too expensive to change everyone in Greater London`s postcodes in 1965 , that it hasn`t got a London postcode . The same as Sutton , Croydon ,Thornton Heath ,Morden etc . Surrey has long since been dropped from official London Borough of Sutton council correspondance ) Sorry if i sound pedantic ( i love borders , boundaries ,maps etc ), but as you obviously love Wallington ,i don`t understand why you would get the county that it`s in factually wrong .
why the awful music, better to narrate to say what is what in and around wallington, I passed through it sunday whilst cycling from coulsdon to hacjbridge via woodcote past beddington park...try narrating, it can actually be fun.....tom, crystal palace...
