Hey everyone! For years I have worked on various scenes from Superman IV to bring to life how the film could potentially look with a restoration. It does take me time around my life to do these videos. Whilst I'm not able to make money off my work for obvious reasons, if you would like to show your support for my channel. You can donate, doesn't matter how big or small, even if it's the price of a cup of coffee... feel free to donate so I can keep future videos coming. 😁 here is my paypal link: paypal.me/apriceproduction
Well, George Feltenstein recently confirmed that the original camera negatives of “Superman IV” do still exist and that WB has them in their vaults. So there’s your answer about whether or not they exist. Especially since it’s coming from an actual person who works in that department.
@@APRICEPRODUCTION I might not be able to make a donation, but I can certainly help you spread the word about this project. One person who already knows about your work is director Sidney J. Furie, who applauded your updated VFX work.
That's a great restoration you made when Superman is in Time Square! I love it! I'm just waiting patiently for Superman IV Extended Cut Edition on Blu-ray this year!
I don’t think Aaron can do it without access to the original camera negatives. So he would still need WB’s permission for that. But it has just been confirmed that the O-Neg still exists.
Instead of spending money on a new superman film, Warner brothers should put their budget on making these enhancements to the entire cut of superman IV - and perhaps restore and add the deleted and edited scenes to make a more coherent story. Re release it with the enhanced effects (like the grand opening credits in space), bring it back to the cinemas - and Warner brothers would have a hit again by having a ‘new’ Christopher Reeve superman film back in the cinemas again! The proper movie now, not the budget cut unfinished one!
Warner Bros. has already spent money on a new Superman movie and it’s already made and it’s gonna be out this summer. I don’t think it would make any sense to cancel something new in favor of a special edition of a movie that has a very negative reputation. I’m all for an updated Superman IV, I just don’t think that most people would be very open minded about a movie that they’ve been told all their lives was absolutely terrible.
@@axebomber2108 they don’t have to cancel the new superman movie, but I’m sure if Warner brothers invested money in fixing up superman IV and re-releasing it, they would make a profit
The first step is to find out what still exists from the film. We already know that the complete score exists thanks to the efforts of Mike Matessino, Lukas Kendall and Screen Archives Entertainment. And George Feltenstein of Warner Bros recently confirmed that the original camera negatives of the film also still exist. So it looks like all the pieces are in place. All that’s needed is the green light from Warner Archive.
Beautifully seamless as always. I also love the change you've made to the overall picture to make it look more natural and cinematic. A vast improvement on the over bright TV look of the original film.
This fantastic! Feels like a much bigger and satisfying ending with it taking place in Times Square. If I can offer some criticism though, the birds seem to stick out too much. Blurring them slightly would give them a more out of focus look and hide the fact that they're digital better.
You've done incredible work with these Superman IV edits, and I sincerely hope one day you release a full-length version of the entire movie with your enhancements. I'd gladly pay for it!
The scene where he lands is amazing, but there's so many things in this one scene that might call for a second version, and some that are probably out of ones power The flag looks kinda fake, but flags can be a pain to get right, I sometimes even prefer using a real flag against a green screen if I can help it. Reeve has this blueish tint around him and the lighting is off, try to know when the speech would take place and the time of day and try to set the sun to reflect that time There should also be people from everywhere looking at Superman! From windows, rooftops, everywhere! I have to admit, I kinda prefer the sky background against Superman but this is cool too, well done! Hope to see more!
And there will be peace, there will be peace when the people of the world want it so badly, that their government will have no choice but to give it to them... *We're just kept on wishing about it, but maybe one day, we all have to learn to have true peace to the world as well...* Excellent job on this scene with amazing effect, buddy
It is difficult to add movement to a shot of buildings. The blur might be slight more.. depends on how the camera is focused on the subject as compared to distance from background as well.
@APRICEPRODUCTION For sure, though there are virtually no depth of field shots in the Superman films, so I'd hazard the background would be in focus, albeit with enough haze to push it into the background.
I love the New York back ground setting for sure. But I am curious though. Didnt you have a vid where he was actually giving the speach outside the UN building? And what made you decide to do this one in New York? Otherwise, its very well done.
This time so wasn't doing a full repeat, decided to shake it up a bit putting more in the heart of the city. Besides wanted to add the projection on the screen behind 😊
@APRICEPRODUCTION Nice touch with that projection by the way. 😉 But yeah I see that point too. Especially since A) New York is the closest to Metropolis as you're gonna get. And B) it's a nice dedication to the first film which was filmed in the Big Apple as well. Thanks Aron. 😀
This is superb and it would be amazing to see if you apply your talents to the Richard Donner cut of Superman II - awful effects that Michael Thau added to that film
Aprice, for the love of god can you please just make your definitive cut of Superman IV! You have the 4k master to work with, so just use that. Warner don't care about the legacy of Christopher Reeve, they are not going to give you the footage you need, so just use the 4k and create your cut from that. Enough of the small clips, just do the whole movie now! Please.
If you are still gonna stop making videos on the Superman 1978-87 series, my only request is that you conclude it with one mega credits sequence a la Superman II which has a recap of all five original movies, especially featuring the shots you fixed.
Both of these films actually had so much potential. Dial down the comedy in 3 and make Gus the unwitting creator of Brainiac and you have something. Same with IV dial back on the cheese and there are some heavy subjects here. Plus an actual budget would have helped. But you know Canon Films. Ugh.
Those are Christopher Reeve's personal politics talking. I really don't believe that Superman himself would ever think that. He's seen and experienced too much to ignore human evil in positions of power. While I appreciate the film's attempts to have Superman in conflict with real-world political issues (the current insanity of the World Economic Forum, Bill Gates/Anthony Fauci, transhumanism, and other moves toward a one-world government would be a great way to reimagine the roles of Lex Luthor and the other Earth-based Super-Rogues), the kind of wide-eyed, naive peacenik vibe of this movie goes against the grain of the character and the mythos. Superman's an optimist, but he's not ignorant of human nature.
@@IllustrafulBetter to be a "MAGAT" than be willfully ignorant. Or worse, fully in favor of outspoken globalists and transhumanist tyrants who make no secret of their intentions (Klaus Schwab, Yuval Noah Arari, etc.). Every single thing I mentioned is real. Google Milton Keynes. Then realise why no one in their right minds would choose to film a superman movie there..
I went to visit it a few years ago and yep it's crazy to think it was used for Metropolis.
Gotta love the naivety of the dialogue about governments giving peace to people when they demand it. Yeah, that's how the world works. 😂
