    That was a fun video and thanks for sharing your experiences with the Baader Hyperion eyepieces.
    I opted to purchase a set of Hyperions as well after doing research and reading reviews.
    I liked that they have large ocular lenses with decent eye relief and wide fields. Also because they are threaded, you can use an adapter to attach a camera lens to the eyepiece or the camera body to the eyepiece as well.
    If attaching a camera lens it's useful to disable the auto focus on the lens. I find it more productive to attach the camera to the eyepiece and shoot in manual mode.
    Visually they work well on my c8 at f/10 and they provide reasonable performance on my 72mm f/6 refractor. For truly wide fields I use the Baader Aspheric 36mm and 31mm respectively, the 36mm on the refractor produces a 6° TFOV at 12x for stunning views of the summer Milky Way or you can fit Orion's Belt within the field of view with room to spare.
    I really like the Hyperions, they're flexible, won't break the bank and they're a lot of fun to use.

    Thanks man for uploading this video to YT. I really needed to see a video, where I can see the difference from 8mm and above using same scope on the same object, like you did on the end in this video. Thanks this very helpful.

    Hello, I believe the Baader Hyperion eyepieces are designed to also fit in the 2" focus adapter , just like the Orion Stratus eye pieces.

    good vid I have the 17, 10, 5 and 3.5 the 3.5 is next to useless with the telescope I have(nexstar 130slt)which I'll be upgrading soon, I also have a Tele Vue nagler type6 9mm which cost me 350.00(Canadian) 200 more then Hyperion 10 and honestly I can't tell the difference I very happy with these eyepieces I've been using them for about 8 years and the Tele Vue doesn't come out of the box too often

    Very good review! I am currently going through exactly the same thought process with the 5se telescope. You have covered some genuine novice dilemmas and it is a genuine review. Very, very helpful indeed! Thank you!

    Baader Hyperions would be described as mid range eyepeices, they're comfortable and have good eye relief for people with glasses, and perform better in longer focal ratio telescopes. For telescopes less than F/7 ratio, there are other brands that will perform better.
    From what I could see in your videos, your problem was the earth's atmosphere, the air was very distorted, no fault of the eyepieces. Light pollution also has no affect on the moon and planets. One of the problems with Mars in 2018 is that it didn't reach a high elevation for people in the Northern Hemisphere, so you always had to look through more of the earths thick soupy atmosphere. Steady atmosphere seeing conditions are the most important aspect of clarity for high magnification. Looking at an object when they're at their highest, and letting your telescope and equipment cooldown to outside temperature for 20+ minutes prior to viewing will optimise your view.

    I have the 8se and the 10mm is the sweet spot for the UK planetary observation when seeing allow it. If not I stick to my zoom lens 24-8mm and play between 18mm down to 12mm

    hi thanks for the video - however i would suggest not to keep the eyepiece in the bag that comes with it. i have the 5mm and after some time the bag starts to crumble into small plastic pieces that stick to the mount, the lenses wherever it falls on...it's obviously the last thing you want for your eyepiece.

    These are awesome eyepieces, especially for the price. Sure, something like a TeleVue Nagler might be better, but they are definitely not 3 times better for 3 times the price. If I had money to burn, or was doing research and needed the best it might be worth going really high end, but for casual viewing the Hyperion line is fantastic. The modular design is great too. You can buy some spacers and get 2 or 3 different focal lengths out of one eyepiece.

    Would a Barlow be useful with less expensive eyepieces?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A barlow will help increase the magnification available with your current telescope, but I would say they are not a substitute for a more expensive eyepiece. However, as with all options their are trades offs with cost v value.
      Perhaps see if you can borrow a barlow to see how it performs with your telescope and your viewing preferences.

    I just bought the same scope and currently looking for eyepieces. I have a couple of questions, to update the software I know I need a a usb mini-b cable, but apparently that’s not going to be enough for cfm to find it? Also, regarding the eyepieces, do you happen to know if they are compatible with the NexYZ smartphone adapter? They seem a bit wide. Thanks

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Regarding updating the firmware I have a video on this on the channel you can check out. The USB cable should be sufficient just sometimes some issues with the Celestron software itself.
      The eyepieces are compatibel with the NexYZ adapter, I have one of these and it works well but can be a little fiddly.

    Is each eye piece really like 2 eyepieces? Because you can take one lens off and it changes the focal length right? So essentially it's like a 2 in 1. Am I correct

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No removal of the eye piece to connect an accessory has no impact on the focal lenght on these eyepieces.

      when using more power u magnify the bad too, u need better conditons whith a more power eyepeace.
      wait until the object is high up in the sky and use a dark location, u will get a better result. try this sight out to find a better observing spot for you :)
