    This chart is from Baader using the spacer as is to without the nose piece and using the spacers.
    With 14 mm then the 28 mm and third is using them together, the largest focal length is without the 1.25 nosepiece at 2". So to get the longest you need a 2" focuser.
    Hyperion 3.5m 2.5 2.1 1.8 21.8
    Hyperion 5.0mm 4.0 3.2 2.6 22.5
    Hyperion 8.0mm 6.0 5.0 4.3 21.8
    Hyperion 10.0mm 8.4 7.1 6.1 ~22
    Hyperion 13.0mm 10.8 9.2 8.1 22.9
    Hyperion 17.0mm 13.1 10.8 9.2 21.8
    Hyperion 21.0mm 17.6 15.5 14.0 32.2

    @gregohks OK, if you buy a hyperion, even as is, it fits in either a 1.25 OR 2" focuser, and yes, the rings change the focal lengths to you actually get 5 different focal lengths if you use the rings.

    I have the 21mm and the 8mm and they are by far the most comfortable eyepieces I have. I also have a couple of Vixen LVs and they're pretty good. My Tele Vue Radian 6mm isn't nearly as nice to use as the Baaders and I'm going to trade it for a 5mm Hyperion as soon as I get my new scope.

    I've the 10mm and its more 'challenging' to use than the 17mm, which I also have.
    I've the 36mm aspheric too and is extremely comfortable to use. Higher mags sometimes become too much of a pain. Try switching from an 8mm then to 36mm whilst viewing,what a relief !!

    If it's basically several eyepieces in one, then man that is really awesome!!! You won't need as many eyepieces in your collection, am I understanding this right? I just ordered the 17 mm

  • @astronomyshed
    @astronomyshed  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @gregohks Yes to everything, but just plugging into a 2" focuser will not give a bigger FOV, it's just a different fitting and this eyepiece will fit both, the rings have to be bought separately.

    Nicely done. I was looking for versatile eyepiece to do AFocal AP. Thank you!

    Pretty nice, only thing is that it may be a challenge doing those changes in low light condition. You can easily lose a part doing that on a star party.

    @SeanKimStyle Unfortunately no, but one year on I still love my Hyperions.

    One thing to bare in mind though is when u use it as a 2" EP and remove the lower end barrel, it changes focal length and it wont be as sharp in the edges as when u use it in 1,25 "mode"
    If i use it in a 2" focuser though, should i use it with or without the end barrel? i've heard of risk of damaging the diagonal if i keep the 1,25 barrel on?

      Sorry, I have no idea, you refer to a spotting scope which is different to an astronomical telescope, I can't help there.

  • @gregohks
    @gregohks 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    So basically with one eyepiece you can get 1.25" and 2".I "lost" you when you were talking about these rings that made your eyepiece longer.If so apart from a 1.25",2" 17mm eyepiece you get a xxmm eyepiece?Thanks

  • @gregohks
    @gregohks 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @astronomyshed So if i buy a 8mm i can plug it in 1.25" so i can use it on barlow x2 1.25" and in 2" if i want a bigger fov.These rings come with the eyepiece or you buy them separately?

    hi, I'm looking at the Hyperion Zoom as an option rather than buying individual Badder ep's. Has anybody used these?

    • @MR.MR.88
      @MR.MR.88 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes and yes. I Think its the best option. the mark4 or whats its name are absolutly worth it.

    I think I'd go for the 8 and 17mm with the two fine tuning rings.

    I dont suppose you know anywhere else that sells the screw on dust caps at all do you? I ordered some 1.25" caps a few years ago after watching your video but I now want some 2" caps and I'm guessing billet parts has closed down or something as I can't seem to get them on the website anymore and they didn't answer my email :-(

    I recently bought the Baader 21mm lens with the 14mm and 28mm tuning rings, I have a sky watcher star travel 102, D-120mm - F-500mm, with the lens alone I have a clear image, but with either or both of the rings the image is out of focus, I can see the image becoming clear but it seems like the focusing tube needs to retract further into the tube to be in focus. I'm new to observing so I'm baffled as to why this happening, can anyone kindly offer a solution?

    • @MR.MR.88
      @MR.MR.88 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      a bit late maby. but u can try clamping the eyepece in the diagonal at varius dephs b4 it botoms out at the usual clamping spot.

    • @cmgill2gill135
      @cmgill2gill135 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MR.MR.88 It's the opposite, it needs to be further in to the telescope to focus, I'm stuck with an expensive eyepiece I can't use :)
