- Despite being situated in an elite neighbourhood of South Delhi with markets and restaurants all across the streets, the residents of Kusumpur Pahadi slum fight for water every day. Narrow lanes, poor drainage systems, irregular water access and long queues summarise the sight of this slum. Our team visited Kusumpur Pahadi and spoke to the residents about their lives and daily struggles for a necessity - water.

Bhai overpopulation due to migrant laborers living in unregularised colonies is the main problem...Delhi was not setup to support such a large population.no matter which govt comes they will not be able to provide housing, electricity water and jobs for this huge population..Please also educate people that we cant create problems and then expect govt to solve all the problems

I am from Kusumpur Pahari, I still remember the everyday struggle of carrying water when I was 6-7 years old along with doing defecation in open jungle.
Lived there for 12-13 years ,studied in MCD school in AirIndia Colony(Adjacent to kusumpur pahari), After 5th studied in Govt school(one of the Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in RK Puram), took science and slogged like anything , dropped one year for competitive exams, went to one of the prestigious Engineering colleges in India(Top 15).
Now working in an IT firm in Bangalore as a Software Engineer.
There are multiple examples like me who has studied with me and from Kusum Pur Pahari and now doing well in life and all because of Education.
Request to everyone , please study well, Govt school also enable you all the opportunities in the world , work hard and one day you will take your family to heights and change the entire status of the family.
Delhi doesn't provide all the facilities to everyone, but it has very good govt schools(Since Sheila dixit era and even before that ) and one has to grab the opportunities with both hands.

When I was a kid, I lived in a similar neighborhood in Mumbai. At the time my mother used to bring about 40 L of water home. Just like women here, she would make two trips, carrying 20L each trip for over 300m and 2 floors while my dad was at work. What viewers should also know is that the labor endured here has lasting effects in your life that you only see when you're getting old. Your knees would hurt, you develop back issues, joint issues etc. Thankfully, we eventually moved out of that neighborhood to somewhere much much better.
Water is a human right. I am shocked that this is the reality still for a lot of people in the country. I see my mother in every woman here trying to get water for her family. Thanks for making this video! Much love!

I used to live there, humne basic chizo ke liye kafi sangarsh Kiya hai. Pehle 12-15 saal pehle toh bohot problem thi handpump se pani bharte the wahi pite the, use krte the SB k liye. Abb toh fir bhi tankers aa rahe hai regularly. Thanks to aap govt, centre & state govt must do for them

I think you should build a community of around 1 to 2 lakh people who tags the respective authority on their social handles and continue it until the work is done and the authority should regularly update the community how much the work is done.

First and foremost thing is Water availability through bore and a simple mathematics say that you have 1.4 million subscribers means 14 lakhs multiplied by just Rs 1 (minimum ) and 10 rs maximum , can solve this dire situation of our Kusum pahadi people. How come no one in the comment section is criticising AAP for there failure. AAp is in power for over 9-10 years but still the situation is same for these people. Also, AAP promised 24 hours of water supply but even today I have to wake up at 3-4 AM to start the water motor to fill the watertank. I hope the Delhi government listens to it's citizen.
