TH-cam algorithm has been recommending quite a bit of Opeth lately and that is a good thing. Wasn't familiar with their stuff for a long time apart from an edited version of The Grand Conjuration that was on a cd that came with Metal Hammer magazine in 2005. Then the daily Doug youtube channel started reviewing a bit of their stuff. Now I'm really starting to get into them a bit.
My dad, who's a huuuuge metal fan, made me losten to this todayw saying "This is Opeth, and if you like bass, listen to this" and he put the music at 7:50, and man, when 8:02 hit, never ever I heard such a bass. It made me shiver and filled me woth such joy. A wonderful bass for a great track.
The blackwater park bass track has a slap bass section. But Mendez is just fantastic. Able to do R&B and funk-adjacent stuff in the middle of everything and it judge feels right for their music, it never sticks out or feels like it doesn't fit. But I think that's also a testament to Mikael because he has always been a fan of jazz music and so it works out gracefully in all eras of Opeth that way, but especially recent Opeth.
I heard this for the first time in a JC Penney parking lot after buying the album on CD around 2005 and the intro scared the F out of me! Still loving it 20 years later!

8:01
One of the best transition and riff ever 1:26 / 1:30
That dualing riff is great
When genius comes along, you listen. Intently and with respect
Bought a copy of the album back in 2009 on a whim and it blew my mind. No regrets. This album and Still Life are my personal favorites.
Ngl one of the first times I’ve listened to opeth once you get over the growls you realize how amazing this shit is dude. Like GODDAMN.....
This introduction makes me think what it would be like to find a lonely corpse rotting in the field. The stench of death, maggots and flies.
Jesus that’s dark but accurate
And then you proceed to do some nasty business to it because, let's face it, that's what the song is about haha
Still listening to the epicness.....love this band so much I got the logo O tattoo
Same here
Me too! On my right arm 🤘
Amazing album. I remember listening to it when it came out, and it's still great today as it was back then.
My favorite Opeth song, and 4:05 is my favorite Opeth moment
This one, my personal favorite, of everything.
One of the greatest albums on this planet.
Remember falling asleep with my mp3 player on shuffle... this come on.... 00:28 hit me like a fuckin bolt of lightning jumped out of fuckin bed like a fuckin jack in the box
I will never know what music is hip but @ least I know what music is real. Real music Opeth
True Dat along with Porcupine Tree
Music shouldn't even be something to be hip about
Keep it for the sake of art
What true music really is
Amen
100%
Opeth is My absolute favorite band, but I think all music is equally real.
I super underestimated of how good this song is!! So good!!
i cant stand how this video only have so less views ! amazing song
What a great song from the amazing old Opeth! Love this forever !!! 🤘
This changed my world when it came out
This song is so complete. First time I listened to this album I was kind of surprised at the second track. I think it’s one of, if not their best releases
I'm going to see Opeth tonight in Detroit! Listening to this song is making me super hyped to get into the pits with this one tonight!!!🤘🤘🤘
Was a damn good show!
This song is wild.
Best album by far! Composition and mix is awesome! Long live this album!

My favorite Opeth songs are changing monthly for some years lol, but this might become a top 3 for me, the more I listen to it.
Demon of the Fall
One of my personal favorites
2:41 eargasm
Mikael's solos are so good
that piano end give of some FF7 vibes at the end! first time hearing this song even tho i liked Opeth for a long time, i never was the type to download songs... (anime was an other story tho!)
This song is a masterpiece
His aggressive side is nearly different in all albums the guy is unreal
My favorite Opeth album.
????
Esto es arte!
Claro que si
Mikael is one of the only that can sing you a lullaby and sound like Satan himself when ever he wishes
Corey Taylor can kinda do that too tbh
Mike roars
Not like a scream, or metal growling, but roaring like a fucking demon
It’s great stuff
Corey is good but this is another level. I try to scream along and can do slipknot all day. Opeth not so much.
@@jro341 yeah same
@@jackwallywall lol You're really comparing Corey Taylor to Mikael Akerfeldt? Unbelievable!!!
0:57 goddamn that is good...
A brilliant composition. Touches emotion from a great many angels.
I liked the 0:00-10:25 part of this song.
Absolutely epic!
Already preordered the 20th anniversary edition of this album as I can’t find the original one on CD which I NEED
Uno de los mejores trabajos del mundo!
Goddamn, the riffs and the overall arrangement. So glad I decided to delve into Opeth. Also good timing since I am starting to get the taste for growling down.
Also, nice growls, but that dude can also sing very well. Dude has a great voice.
I looooovvve this song. So hard, so fast, and so damn good. I find myself totally head banging in the second half of the song. It is ridiculously good! Holy shit!
5:37 this part never fails to get my blood up. Just so insane. Opeth is amazing
This.is.the.best.song.ever.created.
Damn, this Track ! When I recognize it playing next on my playlist the first 25 seconds are enough for me to find my guitar pick
This is great👍👏😊
Masterpiece!
Once upon a time: When i met opeth for the first time.. i never liked that song (i dunno why) but years ago i loved that song! beautiful! and mesmerising!
One of the most great songs ever!
Masterpiece. Their live show is even better.
Blackwater park is a fucking masterpiece from cover to cover...!!!
