    Canada Dry- The concept with the puppet people in this commercial is quite interesting. I can see it being an idea for a horror movie.
    Green Giant Stuffing Originals- I always enjoy the animation of that Sprout character with his farmer friend, who acts as his mentor, it seems, in commercials like this one. Sprout should have had his own animated series, as I see real potential for that in these commercials.

    26:21- what a wholesome commercial. They don’t make them like that anymore. I feel like Christmas was more Christmasy in the 80s if that makes sense.

    A sign you’re old is you have the faintest idea what Andy Griffith is talking about in that AT&T commercial.

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      People should actually be taught more about the AT&T breakup and why monopolies are bad. The idea that at one point Americans were forced to rent their phones from the only telephone provider that existed is absurd.

    • @spectrum10
      @spectrum10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@80sCommercialVault And the bell system also sold the only phones before they were broken up. It was simply called the phone store. I remember the jingle they used in their commercials at Christmas time: "With the gift that keeps saying something year after year (a telephone, a telephone), give someone a phone of their own."

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@spectrum10 It must be easy to call yourself "the Phone Store" when you are literally the only business that sells phones.

    I remember going to see that re-release of Pinocchio that year when I was 7. Back when we were content with just the classic cartoon, instead of Tom Hanks puttering around with a CG puppet and animals.

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Hopefully the recent management changes at Disney will somehow stop this doomsday train of CGI/Live action reboots. The Jungle Book one was fine on it's own, but we don't need to see remakes of every classic animated film.
      The Pinocchio remake is particularly egregious because of how much effort was put into the original film (it's probably the most technically impressive movie that Disney ever made) and the remake feels so unapologetically lazy and uninspired.

    • @yusakug
      @yusakug ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@80sCommercialVault My favorite of the Disney remakes is one not many talk about, which is 2016's Pete's Dragon. It was a wonderful reinterpretation of the original as a drama, and featured some great performances, including one of the last on-screen appearances of Robert Redford before he retired from acting.

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I can appreciate a remake if they're actually trying to reinterpret the source material and actually make something new.
      I feel like they are trying to remake their catalog of classic films because focus groups tell them that today's crop of kids find 2D hand drawn animation to be old and boring.

    @1:08 Is that Peter Parker's Uncle Ben?
    @4:35 Damn, that Wranglers commercial was pure 80's action awesomeness. It sucks that we've become so jaded that viewing audiences today would mercilessly mock and pick apart a fun commercial like this.
    @7:37 "What makes new Citrus Hill so select?" Me: "Judging by the way everyone is glugging it down, I'd say cocaine."
    @9:05 Stetson. Wild horses. Open ranges. Cowboy hats. Square jaws. And featuring the manliest man who ever manned. Clear, unconfused salesmanship. _God_ I miss the 80's.
    @14:46 OK, we have a challenger to the Wrangler commercial with the Ranger!! DUH-DUH!! _S._ _T._ _X._ What with the speed, the jumps, and the callous disregard for America's wetlands this is the single most exciting car commercial I've ever seen. Ranger!! DUH-DUH!! _S._ _T._ _X._
    @15:16 Uh...guys? About that party you're going to...I've got some bad news....
    @19:47 Man, these commercials are so high-energy and positive, I just love it. It's like, "Diet Coke coming at ya!! With ice!! Perform acrobatic feats on skis!! Blast over waves in a baddass catamaran!! Look at this fighter jet!! Dance awkwardly!! Freaking hang-glide into the sun!! SPACE SHUTTLE!! Bikinis!! Awesome!! Diet Coke!!!!"

      @80sCommercialVault  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looks a lot like her but I don't think it's actually her. She was definitely doing commercials around this time, but I can find no references to her being in a Wrangler commercial that aired nationally in 1984, which I don't think would be the case if it were actually her. Remember, we're talking about an actress who was on one of the most popular sitcoms of the last century.
