Commercials today stink! Either sickness, cell phones or cars! Definitely NOT joyful or entertaining. Society is very far removed from enjoying the simple things in life! What a shame.. so every Holiday I'll just tune into these Wonderful , Joyful Christmas🎄🎅🤶 Commercials! TG For Film!
I feel warm and tingly inside remembering the 80s, but get extremely depressed knowing these times will probably never be back. I remember working at the local family owned grocery store. Most are gone and replaced by corporate monsters. People didn't totally hate each other back then. We were a cohesive society for the most part. 24-7-365 hate stream media has ruined it all.
So true today , we live in a sometimes get them before they get you society , not always but way too much now . The late 80's were great for me , that is when I thought the future for me was going to be great .
These commercials are quickly becoming a Christmas tradition, alongside the classic movies. Going to bake some cookies this afternoon with my boys and have this Playlist on
Me too. I sometimes watch these commercials from the 70’s 80’s and 90’s on my iPad as I fall asleep at night. These commercials bring me so much peace and comfort.
Yep. People actually had to interact without everyone having a screen and and social media to be removed from the family...I wouldn't change then for now for anything.
The ones with illegals from the southern borders are repulsive. Hollywood looks for a change in their sick dynamics doesn’t work. That’s why they are getting rid of not yet, these new “commercials.” In my state I’m glad they did and switched to infomercials
I don't care what time of year it is, I LOVE watching these old Christmas commercials-they make me go back to when I was a kid again! :3 That and it's always great to find new favorites from back in the day, too :3
Yes, these Commercials are 100% entertaining! Fun watch. The acting, the Narrators were the Best! Never will be again. Today's commercials are a cold, boring horror!
Michael Landon’s Kodak commercial played right before Matt Labyorteaux’s Pillsbury commercial I find that so cool since they played father and son on “Little House On The Prairie.”
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. I'm looking for a "Christmas Jingle," and someone might have an idea: In late 1989 (I was in 11th grade), there was a Taco Time commercial, it was mostly instrumental, with a very nice Christmas jingle playing in the background. Then, in late 1998-early 1999, a company called International Jewelers used that SAME Christmas jingle in the background! I know this is a long shot, and you probably have to be in Washington or Oregon to even know what Taco Time is. But, I'm never amazed at what can be pulled up on the internet!
To add: It begins with with the first 5-8 second of a "bell sound," and then it gets into the nice music. If anybody remembers the International Jewelers commercial from late 1998, the background voice says, "Jingle Bell.....Rock!" (no, the song is NOT "Jingle Bell Rock")
the santa claus movie I remember from disney channel and the Kroger with the party trays is how my christmas was as a kid we always had guest over and lots of party trays with meat crackers cheese fruits vegetables deserts and sandwiches I would play with my toys while the adults talk play card games and wacth football I would wacth the parade and just have fun playing my games and stuff
Right!? Nothing got me more excited for Christmas than the start of advertising Christmas records or cassette tapes starting in October, since you had to send a check or money order to the company weeks ahead of Christmas. It’s so different now! This was hilarious to have a centerpiece decoration with the packaging.
i remember being able to afford eating at McDonald's with the money I earned working there. Now I have a nice office job and CANT afford fast food anymore.
I still remember a late 70s McDonald's commercial said "Feed a family of 4 for under $5". I guess it was a hamburger, small fry, and small drink", but still...it could be done.
31:45 Cassette or 8-track? I didn't see any expiration date on the ad, LOL. Of course, unless they still have a warehouse somewhere that's full of unsold "records" and/or "tapes", the album probably no longer exists...except maybe on Amazon.
@@not-so-smartaleck8987 Target and Bestbuy and some smaller retailers here in NY sell records/vinyl. I had a sports room done for my husband two years ago and I had purchased a Sony record player/turn table from Bestbuy for his sports room and we buy old and new music on vinyl from both Target and Bestbuy. Last Christmas I bought Motown Christmas and Bing Crosby Christmas on vinyl along with prince’s Purple Rain album. Thankfully as per the news people like us are wanting vinyl more and more so they’re pressing new and old music on vinyl and making new record players.
Here's the difference I notice in commercials from then and now: Back then, the commercials were based on family or others and today's commercials seem to be aimed at (or written by) hardcore narcissists. This would explain the absence of any heartfelt or sincere moments. Also, the music in today's commercials seems to be tired and stale recycled trash from every other commercial, e.g. the same tired light singer/songwriter or diversity-social-feelgood-experience sounding piano or guitar (or they use a song from a B-list band or must include a whistling chorus) to pretend the commercial is meaningful, genuine, or impactful in any way because the visuals and content just don't do it. Thoughts?
I agree with you. With have taken God and family out of today's society and basically criminalized them. It's all about individual's feelings and fear of not hurting them. And it's only going to get worse. If you want to remember these commercials, you better record them because they will be taken down because somebody will say that they are offended by them for one reason or another. Sad too. May our future Christmases be fill with the joy and the love that we should all feel at Christmas time.

The early 90s commercials were so bland compared to the 80s. The whole American attitude turned so serious after Reagan. People dressed like they were at a military ceremony, humor was completely dead, and the average price of featured gifts probably doubled, not to mention the spike in charitable organizations asking people to donate. It was very depressing in my opinion, but I can understand why a young adult would feel nostalgic about the early 90s.
13:40 OK, I get it, the toy Texaco truck itself isn't "jet-fueled"; if it were a real truck, it would just transport jet fuel to where jets or planes are, to refuel them. (How exciting.) Too bad--I was expecting that kid, riding a jet-fueled toy, to be whipping around the living room at break-neck speed...
I love these old Christmas commercials. It's a little sad in a way because those good good days are so far gone.
