@Marlaina In the video, someone mentioned about the victim having her life cut short and won’t have children etc. Not everyone wants to have children. The world is populated as it is.
Wow, her journal entry one month before she died was truly touching and it was like she felt a premonition. I got goosebumps as the detective read those powerful words. Her spirit would never be shut down and her voice would be heard throught that DNA sample even decades after her violent and premature death. Justice was finally made. She was right. The spirit prevails.
her student showing up, her best friend (his ex) showing up, being worried her sister would hate her, her sister naming her daughter for her.. this woman was so loved 😢💔 The handcuffs being used was just the justice she deserved.
Just the small clips of her twin sisters testimony had me teary eyed. He thought he'd never be caught since he never gave up his DNA and it had been soo many years later. That DNA family tree mapping is incredible.
So the friend Diana, knowing all what she knew about Clayton, didn’t realize there was something rotten in Denmark when poor Catherine came up dead and the handcuffs were a main issue? Furthermore, if the investigation thought it was someone she knew, didn’t they question friends and people in Catherine’s life and then branch out from there? I don’t understand this. However, cudos to those people who did all the genealogy. They worked really hard and figured it out since the investigations didn’t focus on friends in Catherine’s present and past .
For all those who are commenting about how he got probation for the SA in the 80s, you have to know that that was something for that time. This was around the time when they were rolling out the "No means No" date rape campaign. I was in college at the time. It was like if you knew the person, then he couldn't SA you because you must have "led him on." I wish I was exaggerating about this, but I'm not.
There are cases of ladies leading the guys on of course and only regretting about sex the next day. Regret is not r8pe. But of course there are other genuine r8pe cases.
As a former teacher who was able to carry on friendships with my elementary students and I get to see them get married, have their own families, be successful in life this case resonates with me. Her students loved her even to this day and she never got to see them succeed. She never got to see them grow up. And in turn they never got the chance to continue that friendship that was so valuable to them. 😫
There are still fantastic teachers. They have SO much more to deal with today and I personally know some leaving the profession because they have no support, violent students, and are burnt out and stressed out due to these factors.
@ yep, that too, a close friend of mine wants to quit teaching herself she literally said she’s only there for the kids. they mostly have her doing administrative work that’s it. she originally wanted to be a forensic psychologist but she couldn’t afford it.
They probably did but some women are desperate to have a man in their life that they overlook all the obvious red flags that tell them to end the relationship.
Unbelievable. Stupid “best friends” can get you killed. Victim found with police issue handcuffs. Best friend’s “police obsessed” husband had handcuffs dangling from car’s rearview mirror. Same guy had been convicted of violent sex crime. HELLO?! Another example of investigative INCOMPETENCE. How did they overlook this guy?!!!
Yes, I wonder if the police made public that handcuffs had been used. And if so, why didn’t Diana ever mention to the police that her husband drove around with handcuffs hanging from his mirror?
She just didn’t want to believe and or find out if was him and then have to deal with her guilt. Easier to lie to yourself and rationalize things away.
This kind of devil can be outwardly charming and hide their true colors. In the video, you even hear of some ppl who didn’t believe he’s convicted of the crime cos he’s a “nice guy”. Only the victims know the real side of him. He never showed that side of him to his ex-wife. I’m sure we all hide things from our parents and they don’t even know half of the things we do even if we live in the same household. A rape allegation in those days didn’t mean much unless there’s concrete evidence. It could be mutually-agreed sex but the girl regretted the sex the next day. That’s of course not the case here. But his ex-wife didn’t know and so gave him the benefit of the doubt.
It’s was the early 80s. He likely not only followed sentencing guidelines at the time, but he’s probably dead or close to it. That’s not going to happen.
This man is the worst kind of criminal. He preyed on the trust of innocent women and then when they let their guard down, he ambushed them and raped them. I hate that he lived a whole life while he stole a piece (or in Catherine's case, entirely) of their lives. Just tragic.
I was touched by her student who showed such love and empathy toward her beloved teacher. Speaks volumes about her character, the student's and Catherine's.

Hiding in plain sight? No one knew? Wasn't he a convicted rapist? I know a guy who did 15 years for rape said he didn't do it. What do I think? Yes he did.
The fact she had such an impact on lives that lady even attened the court 30 years after she was her teacher speaks volumes for what a special person she was.
She was also about 18 y/o at the time. Not exactly an age of discernment🤷♀️. All she thought of was that the invitations had been sent out🤦♀️. Wouldn't even listen to her family....just wanted a wedding.
If this isn't an example of how the food in this country has gone downhill by looking at Clayton, I don't know what evidence you'd need. Just look at that guy. It's the bad veg oils, the high fructose corn syrup etc etc. What a shame and what a slob
Yes, times were much different. No dna. No rape kits. No sex registry. Rape and beating women wasn’t quite the big deal back then as it is now. It started changing in the 90s.
Yep, and a lot of the thinking was, “oh, she just regretted it so she’s accusing him to make herself feel less guilty.” Men AND women believed that. And if a girl was SAed, she probably did something to deserve it or she lead him on. I had a friend who was assaulted in the early 80s, she told me she was walking home from high school basketball practice, in a baggy sweatsuit, no makeup, hair messy, covered in sweat. As she passed an alley, a guy grabbed her by her hair and yanked her off the sidewalk, she didn’t even know he was there. She was still grilled by the police, accused of provoking him in some way.

I get what you mean! Not everyone wants children or marriage. Many people live fruitful lives without either one or both. SMH 🤦🏽♀️ she might would have went on to have no children - or just got married. Idk I think this society think if you don’t have one or both of those- you’re not normal.
@Marlaina
In the video, someone mentioned about the victim having her life cut short and won’t have children etc. Not everyone wants to have children. The world is populated as it is.
Great work Tina and Sheryl La point .
Man he probably thought he got away with it all these years.
The spirit prevails.
her student showing up, her best friend (his ex) showing up, being worried her sister would hate her, her sister naming her daughter for her.. this woman was so loved 😢💔
The handcuffs being used was just the justice she deserved.
l have to agree with the guy that says some people are demon possessed.
ABSOLUTELY!
They are the demons
Kudos not cudos 🙄🙄🙄
For all those who are commenting about how he got probation for the SA in the 80s, you have to know that that was something for that time.
This was around the time when they were rolling out the "No means No" date rape campaign.
I was in college at the time. It was like if you knew the person, then he couldn't SA you because you must have "led him on."
I wish I was exaggerating about this, but I'm not.
You’re not exaggerating! I know personally the pain of this time.
Asking your fiancé about his arrest a simply taking his word for it is wild!
Different times. You couldn’t just go online and background check people. We are very lucky to have access to these kinds of things.
Plus, she was a teenager. Married for 11 years and divorced by the time she was 31, means she got married at 18 or 19.
At first I was like she was young but oh my gosh she's slow poor lady
That's why you need fathers!!!
Exactly. I’m gonna be front row of his trial everyday…..
48 hours is the best crime show on youtube
Man, she must’ve been a great teacher, great teachers just don’t come around like that anymore these days.
Yes they do.
My son is a great teacher and is there for the kids that want to learn.
You must be a bot.
So her family could not slow her down when her fiance accused of rape? Did ANY of her girlfriends know about this? WTH?
They probably did but some women are desperate to have a man in their life that they overlook all the obvious red flags that tell them to end the relationship.
The move with the handcuffs by the Ranger and officer WAS BRILLIANT!!
So awesome this attorney Helenia and how much her teacher inspired her, they are both such lights!
A cold case solved means a warm bed in jail
God almighty. Did he eat half the steers in Texas?!!!
Nice one! 😁
Exactly. But police should have investigated all former men in her life anyway.
Sorry, but her friend must be the most gullible, dumbest person ever.
lol. Yes
Is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling Diane thinks she's the star of the show?
Totally
Yes
She’s quite annoying and self-centered.
Diane was the ex wife?
@@cw5451 and very very stupid and naive...this should be a crime also...
I cried .. so many horrible sick walking around us 😢
The judge that let him out on probation the first time should also face charges.
Yes! 🎯🤬
Yes
It’s was the early 80s. He likely not only followed sentencing guidelines at the time, but he’s probably dead or close to it. That’s not going to happen.
This man is the worst kind of criminal. He preyed on the trust of innocent women and then when they let their guard down, he ambushed them and raped them. I hate that he lived a whole life while he stole a piece (or in Catherine's case, entirely) of their lives. Just tragic.
I love the way they let him walk towards the elevator 😂😂😂goooottteeem
Yes, he was like: "Ooohhh! Almost! It was so close..." 🤦🏻♂️
Yeah, they certainly weren't worried about him out running them if it came to a chase
I was touched by her student who showed such love and empathy toward her beloved teacher. Speaks volumes about her character, the student's and Catherine's.
This one made me cry!! Heart wrenching! So glad they caught him!! Such a small circle!
this one was a tearjerker, may she rest easy and may those that loved her find peace.
How did people not suspect him, he had a rape conviction!
Watching from South Africa 🇿🇦
Hallo uit Paarl!
Watching from Kenya 🇰🇪
Greetings from Poland. 👍🇵🇱🖐️
Hello from Ireland 🇮🇪
Howdy from Texas! I am so moved by the fact that TH-cam enables a global community to enjoy TH-cam videos together! And this show is so good that I can see why people from all over the world would want to watch it. ☮️ 💜
The two smart women who tackled the genealogy and helped solve this crime...absolutely super women!
He s P.O.S. and this make me very ungry because he lived freely till his 60 s.
The only hope is that he spent all of those years looking over his shoulder that the police were going to come for him. However I doubt it.
This is why I don't use Uber or Lyft
It’s literally no different than sticking out your thumb and hitchhiking
@@cindytrayer4279i disagree with that assessment. A bit hyperbolic, yes?
@lcam9241 that’s why we’re all entitled to have our own thoughts and opinions. In your mind, you are correct , in my mind, I’m correct.
@@cindytrayer4279 I been saying that
Incredible investigative work done. What a great team. Good job!
This is horrible smh i cant imagine how Catherines best friend felt knowing her ex husband did this to her friend(but at the same time She was very naive)‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ smh 😡😢‼️ heartbreaking!!!!!
Hiding in plain sight? No one knew? Wasn't he a convicted rapist? I know a guy who did 15 years for rape said he didn't do it. What do I think? Yes he did.
Her student to be there to see him go to prison really touched my ❤️. Im thankful DNA finally stopped his crimes.
This is crazy. I was 10 when this happened. I just turned 39. Sad it took this long for justice. Peace to the family! ❤
The fact she had such an impact on lives that lady even attened the court 30 years after she was her teacher speaks volumes for what a special person she was.
Women, come on!!! This dude had an arrest for S. A. and her response was "well he wasn't in jail, so..." WTH?! 🤨
And a FINE for a S😡. A. arrest?!
Arrest=/=conviction
He WAS convicted
I’m thinking she may not be the sharpest knife in the knife drawer.
🎯🎯🎯 And GM0 corns and "food".
He wasn't the only player in this story who ballooned over the years, though
@@t0raneko these people are representative of 70% of America so it’s not surprising.
@@t0ranekoI was about to say. His ex wife ate her guilt away too.
@@Eirini1 YES!
How did he gave *probation* for *rape*? Were times really that different in the 80s? Did he have the world's best lawyer?
I love these detectives for being aware that despite the amazing work they did, sometimes justice and closure can't be.
"No one knew what he was capable of". Sir, a lot of women knew but he got probation
❤️👍
Yeah, except the wife. She's the poster child of 'clueless'.
This dude probably killed others
That’s amazing that they used the same handcuffs. Nice touch.
