    What’s one thing (or one area) that you want to declutter before 2023 comes to a close? 🤍

      Thinking about decluttering my violin 🎻 I never played. I wanted to learn but never did. It's been 10 years since I bought it. And also an old watch but is sentimental because I wore it for my graduation and wedding It's 12 years old. I bought a new watch ⌚️ and don't wear the other anymore. I want to use the money I make from it for a gold pendant.

    I've finished my "no buy" first year and beginning the second one. For me, that's the perfect solution to stop declutering : no buy, no clutter 😉

    I just decluttered my closet and 2 drawers last weekend and didn’t think I would have much to donate but I dropped off 4 bags to Goodwill today along with a bag of hangers!! Felt so good! Now, onto the kitchen cupboards 😊.

    I like to take everything out of a space & then only put back what I actually need. It also helps me decide how I want the space to look. It leaves the space looking & feeling so much cleaner & easier to manage & pleasant to look at. 😊

    A great place to take your vases is actually back to your local floral shop - at least in my town, it is!

    I'm moving overseas and have been decluttering everything! Its eye opening how many things you accumulate over the years when you have to get rid of almost everything you own. Also, trying to do it as zero waste as possible, trying not to throw out as much by listing things for free on fb marketplace :) side note: love your sweater, where is it from?

  • @oliviasexton8814

    these are all great things to declutter that i haven’t thought about! i especially liked when you mentioned that old towels can be donated to animal shelters.. if you have any other low waste ways to declutter i would love a video on that! thanks for all of your advice in videos :)

      Check with local shelters, resale shops where money goes to charities, animal rescues, small zoos even church groups that give to homeless population in the area.

      Yup, this is my biggest struggle: the closet with all the "sell, donate and responsibly declutter" items.
      So so many things to manage. It's easy for me to evaluate for example an unfitting hobby supply, but it is near-perfect condition and it would be a shame to end in the trash. I'd love it out of my house but now what.

    Hi Ashlynne, hope you are well. Regarding decor, it might also be worth taking note of how you feel when you are still actively putting things out, and using those feelings as a guide. For a few years, I was hanging a set of 12 baubles on the tree and I realised I didnt even like them any more! The next year, I did that with other decor and was able to condense them and buy a single storage cube, rather than having loads of them wrapped up in newspaper, bubble wrap, etc. Small steps, but sometimes we are still using things without acknowledging our true feelings. Hope that made sense?!

    • @Alyssa-ui7bf
      @Alyssa-ui7bf ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This totally makes sense!! I was thinking as I sat on my couch “hm. These Halloween decorations aren’t even that great, and they’re stressing me out” (even though there’s really not that many of them). Taking note!

    • @robingrooms9782

      I agree. I just downsized from a big house to a condo & I continue to let go of so much stuff. It's so refreshing to get it out of my home. I get rid of things that I don't really like & make me feel good about owning. Decor that I've held onto just in case I move or clothes that might be new but don't fit right. It's just stuff & there's no need to hold onto things that don't give us joy or are not being used. 😊

    The local community center in my city takes plastic bags and crochets them into reusable mats that can be used as either sleeping mats or even blankets for the homeless or people needing help from the Red Cross. I make a run up there twice a month and drop off all the bags we have collected. They go to a good cause and stay out of the landfill. :)

    • @molee8863
      @molee8863 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What a lovely use of those plastic bags. I reuse them as trash bags since we don't generate enough trash to fill a 13 gallon bag between our 2 garbage pickup days.

    I am working on cleaning up/decluttering my bedroom, as it is a disaster. I think the things that I most need to declutter are clothes and Ipsy bags (just the bags, not the stuff that came in them). I have way too many of both, and I am not wearing/using a lot of them.

    I have heard the best thing to do when you have items you have decided to declutter is to take it to your car right away and NOT let them back into the house! Because they will somehow multiple! And since your car is smaller and you often need the space more. It’s a reminder to take the items where they need to go.

      We had one and cut it in half, stacked the pieces, sewed a zippered cover and have been using it as a dog bed - years later the dogs still love it. I was not sure what to do with it otherwise (aside from a landfill), and I’m not sure an animal shelter would take it without a washable cover.

    I feel that it is a bit wasteful to throw out products you don't like, I try to use them even if I don't like because it took some energy to create and transport and probably that I used my hard earn money to pay for that item. Throwing it out means that you are throwing out your money and that you will buy another item that took more energy and more fuel to transport to your home.

    • @me4011
      @me4011 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hate wastefulness too but as long as you're not doing it consistently it's ok to learn your lesson and not use irem as if I do that I feel worse not at my best and it affects my day and my mood so there's no point beating myself more

    • @parisgreen4600

      Yes, or use as dog-walking 'poo bags'. You can store a ridiculous number of bags in an empty tissue box. Our town instituted a plastic-bag ban at stores so we have to make every bag count, LOL.
