    Lyrics:
    My pain is self-chosen
At least, so the prophet says
    I could either burn
Or cut off my pride and buy some time
A head full of lies is the weight, tied to my waist
The river of deceit pulls down, oh oh
The only direction we flow is down
    Down, oh down
    Down, oh down
    Down, oh down
    Down, oh down
    My pain is self-chosen
At least I believe it to be
    I could either drown
Or pull off my skin and swim to shore
Now I can grow a beautiful shell for all to see
The river of deceit pulls down, yeah
The only direction we flow is down
    Down, oh down
    Down, oh down
    Down, oh down
    Down, oh down
    The pain is self-chosen, yeah
    Our pain is self-chosen
    Down, oh down
    Down, oh down
    Down, oh down
    Down, oh down

AIC and Soundgarden, raw Metal, Slugde, doom, hard for sure! MICHAŁ ANIOŁ Jerry does that also twice during Unplugged in the second chorus of No Excuses after Layne crushes the last few notes. When you see things like that, sofar I’ve only seen from AIC and these guys, you know they love their beloved doomed friend. I hate to say doomed, but he truly seemed like he was. I can’t name a single person other than him who’s connected with so many thousands of people. I’m talking perhaps hundreds of thousands, I’d bet millions. That’s not your average legacy, he was a gift to everyone, especially those in pain. I concluded I need to see AIC this Thursday for my own sake. Fuck that Duvall crap, they only play to honor him, that’s therapy for me. Nuff said.

Coming from a huge Nirvana fan, Layne Staley is the most underrated front man in history. Their wasn't nearly enough coverage of his death. Watching this i see so many similarities in Layne and
Kurt. They both often times were fuckin ripped while on stage, as Layne has to be here. Both have extremely unique voices and both unfortunately had severe problems. Layne lost his FIANCE [ as correctly stated below by Swag ] and was never the same. Kurt met his future wife and was never the same. Both died on the same day ( 8 years apart ). Layne's story should have been shown more. That's ridiculous. This man was one of the greatest ever. R.I.P
Special thanks to Swag Mammy ( bless her heart) for correcting me while being humble and understanding about my poorly executed comment in which I said Mr. Staley was married when in fact he was engaged. In my defense, there wasn't enough coverage of his death. That's no excuse for my actions. I'm deeply ashamed. I'm gonna binge watch everything about Layne Staley tonight/tomorrow and come away with forthright knowledge of this legend. R.I.P Layne and go fuck yourself Swag Mimis. Just kidding. I'm sure deep down you're a good woman. And probably a Swaggin' Memaw for some fine grandchildren. You could have been a little more polite there Swag Mama. Have a super great day.

Born & raised in Sea Town, I was fortunate to see everyone from
Mother Love Bone, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Mud Honey,
SuperSuckers, Melvins, Screaming Trees, Candlebox, Temple of the Dog,
Alice in Chains in the late 80's thru mid 90's and this show, Mad
Seasons, standing just left of center balcony level. watching many
different band members from different bands descend down into their own
abyss and prisons, weakening physically, emotionally, and vocally, but
this was a very special night and show whereas a mutual appreciation
between band and audience grew as the night progressed, and you could
see a light on in Layne that i hadn't seen in some earlier AIC shows. It
was truly a magically time to be alive, and to witness one of Rock's
all time greats taken too soon from us. Enjoy and if you are suffering
