Lyrics:
So much blood I'm starting to drown
It runs from cold to colder
Time to time the skies come down
And help me lose my way
Tears and lies for answers
You and open veins
God knows I'm gone
Girl I just want you to
Come on down
Lord there's a storm in my head and if all these Sins are mine and I've done wrong
Though they come on down
Long gone day
Oh whoever said we'd wash away with the rain
See you all from time to time
Isn't it so strange how far away we all are now
Am I the only one who remembers that summer
Oh I remember everyday each time a place was saved
The music that we made
The wind has carried all of that away
Long gone day
Mmmmmmmm whoever said we'd wash away with the rain
So many tears I'm startin to drown
The rains in heaven must all come down
Silver spoons that fix the crown
The luckless ones are broken
Fears and lies for answers
You and open flames
God knows I'm gone and I just want you to come on down
Lord there's a storm in my head and if all these Sins are mine and I've done wrong I want you to Oh I just want you to come on down
I fear again like then I lost my way
Shout to god to bring my sunny day

Last time I watched this Mark was alive and tonight it hit me like a ton of bricks that they both are gone now. Ouch. Hurts. RIP beautiful, sweet, talented souls
I hope they get to jam together now.
💔💔
John Baker Saunders too.
Mark Lanegan definitely deserves his spot on the Mt. Rushmore of Seattle grunge. With Layne Chris Kurt and Eddie.
Omg this is me and my late husbands album ♥️ he had this playing, rose petals scattered all around, candles going..God what a night! 3 kids later, one day shy of our 11 year anniversary and he was killed in a car accident 💔 Mad Season Above was playing as his background music at his funeral. RIP my beautiful Mark Patterson 6~12~2008
Everytime I hear Layne's voice I get teary eyed, I battled a heroin addiction for almost 20 straight year's and I'm blessed to have made it through the fog. Two beautiful children came into my life and opened my eyes to living again, wanting to live again and I'm 3 years clean today 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for sharing! Keep it up!!!!!
Stay strong, dude! Congratulations!!
Congratulations on your sobriety :)
Well done brother. One foot in front of the other and one day at a time. Stay strong.
Describing your success begets another success.
Mark Lanegan about Long Gone Day: “ I think it's a beautiful song, i wish he were still around to sing it ”.
He's not the only one wishing that :(
Mark, pls 😭
I just watched that interview lol
3 of em on stage no longer with us. F'n sad but their legendary music will be with us forever as long as we keep passing it on to younger generations.
@@FreeUrMindz I thought only Layne and John Baker Saunders were dead? Barrett Martin, Mark Lanegan, Mike McCready, and Skriek are all still alive. Who's the 3rd you're referring to?
The little smile on Mark at 1:40 when Layne hits that high note is a beautiful moment. Rest in peace you beautiful people.
No se ríe
Haha he literally just stood there without facial expression 🙈😝
You be imagining stuff
How did I discover this song for the first time today!?
the important thing is that you know it now✌️
It’s criminally underplayed. But actually half of the beauty is in discovering it
Wake Up by them better
better late then nver
Even Layne’d ch-aaah were perfection…
RIP Layne, Mark and John.
What a groove, what vocal harmonizing, what an atmosphere with the stand up bass and the xylophone. The only bad part of this song is the fact that theres 3 ghosts on stage.
RIP Layne
RIP Mark
RIP Baker
And that the song finishes way to soon
The bass on this song is fantastic, people don’t give enough credit too John!
They are all beasts. McGready was possessed in this show better than anything I've seen him do with Pearl Jam imho.
@@jaimecucalon2804same feeling I get with Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament playing with Mother Love Bone. They look so much more lively with Andrew compared to PJ.
@@brianj4201 I ought to check that out. Thank you!
I miss the feeling of the 90s. It was an energy...an omnipotent electricity in the air. You could feel the change that gen X was living through. Our parents had the opportunity of having one single job their entire life and could retire from there. We would never have that option. War was ever present. We knew our futures would be drastically different from any before us. Computers were popping off and becoming normal in every home. Music/ concerts were happening in garages, condemned homes, and huge venues everywhere. It was an amazing time. I long for that feeling again
Layne is my favorite voice of that genre but my gosh Mark's voice is so croony and good too.
4:47 you can hear the sax player play “come as you are.” I don’t know if that was intended but it sounds awesome
its great
I seriously doubt it was without intention hahaha
Yeah yeah, grunge is not only nirvana, it ain't even close.
@@samarramiresz7005 not what I’m saying at all. It just caught my ear
@@samarramiresz7005 grunge is Alice In Chains
With Mad Season, you really get the range Layne really had, just amazing to hear how rich his voice was!
Great point. This is one of his finest vocal examples for me. This and Them Bones, which are totally different sounds but both utterly awesome
Lyrically too. Cantrell wrote most of the lyrics for AIC, but Mad Season was all Layne. Insane talent.
@@theDiReW0lf At the beginning it was mostly Jerry. At the end it was mostly Layne. Overall by the end of Layne's era it was 50-50. Layne was always more than just his voice.
There is no way that you could find two better vocalists in such an extraordinary yet low-key setting. This is pure gold.
If they were still with us, I can’t imagine the heights they would reach!
Both are my absolute favorite to ever do it. what an incredible performance this was.
This is pure magic
@@DarlaKroupa Still get goosebumps from listening to this song
@@SludgeMan90 I can only concur. ;)
Marks face here is magic! The little smirk of appreciation. He felt it. Just like us. Timeless. 1:35
Dude… no joking, I just can’t believe the performance I just saw. Wtf… how can Layne even overcome his studio recordings in his lives. What voice is this… Omfg…
Damn RIP Mark. This one hurts bad. I wish I could hear the music being made in the afterlife with these two reunited once again.
I’m listening to Lanegans book on audio. Hearing that voice tell the shenanigans they got into while out on tour together, listening to Lanigan talk about his best friend Layne plus crazy funny tour stories
Long gone days 😭😭😭
Damm ..it kills me .
Listening for second time to his audiobook ...i need to hear his voice ....
Im 61 and my dream came true to see him live with Duke ..
Awsome .
Loved Mark since the trees ..cant really explain i love many many artists and bands but Mark touched my soul ..
Rest in peace both of you 🖤💔🖤
Shit. I didn't know he died.
@@jackofallspades6415 in Feb this year in Ireland 🇮🇪. I did read he had covid 😷 in 2021, pretty bad but got through it
@@jackofallspades6415 we just lost Lanagan in Feb 2022 he was living in Ireland with his wife. Actually he got Covid-19 and was hospitalized in 2021.
It took me 0.1 seconds to click this video, and an eternity to understand how good Layne's voice is.
Mark Lanegan!
Took me a second to realize the legendary talent...
That's cheesy as fuck but I get what you're saying
I was just listening to this thinking "Man this song is really vanilla and boring", then Layne chimed in. I immediately felt better
the crowd started cheering right then, too. Bring Layne back!
Back when rock stars still smoked on stage. Memories.
Back when rockstars were rockstars
Man...the sax player is great. Not over playing, just wailing.
Skerik!
...perfection addition indeed 🌼
He is amazing, listen to his collabs with Les Claypool or the Skerik Band, mindblowing!
I like the Come As you Are nod
I wonder if the people who witnessed this performance realize how lucky they were.
Good that it was video recorded
@@margaridacosta270Thank God it was recorded
If they didn't at the time, I'm sure they realize it in hindsight; how could one not?
@@iviui2d3i2no doubt. What a moment in time.
I love to look at their faces while the other one sings his solo part. Layne's face is full of affection for Mark and Mark's face is full of admiration for Layne and it's lovely to see.
There both buddies
Laynes Mic control is unreal, look how far he backs off the mic in their last harmony as to not overpower marks quieter lower toned voice. Pro till the grave.
"I shout to god to bring my sunny day
.." he actually mean it.....
This whole album is freaking amazing. So much better than what passes for "music" today. Makes me sad.
Oh that couldn't be more true, I'm from the old "greatest" days of the best music there will ever be, but wow, this fits in with that group PERFECTLY. Actually I think all of AIC does too.
Plenty of good artists out there nowadays. You're just not looking for them
There's a lot of amazing musicians outside. The main difference is that the business is not focussed on them, so they don't become mainstream. Anyways, being mainstream doesn't makes you talented or better
@@maxs.3238 name a few
We named our son layne. 22 years ago. Out of love for aic & laynes voice. Simply the best.✌
May God always bless him!
One of my favorite Lanegan songs. He's like 30 years old here but he was always an old soul, wasn't he? RIP Mark!
EDIT (Feb 23 2024): A lot of disagreement about his age here so I looked it up to confirm. Mark was born November 25, 1964. Live at the Moore was recorded on April 29, 1995. So that means he was, in fact, 30 years old in this video.
An ancient soul
No, he was only in his mid 20’s..
@@HildeAzul Nope. He was 29 when they recorded the rekkid and 30 when it was released.
Since Layne was his best friend I like to think he was there waiting for him when he passed ❤️
Okay, so born in 67, I thought this performance was 94, which would have made him late 20’s. I dunno 28 (sorta mid 20’s… Ha! Whom and I kidding?).
Sorry about that!!!!
Layne is amazing and I see this a lot in the comments, but I'd just like to point out that Mark Lanegan is also unbelievably talented, I'm a huge fan of both. Timeless performance
For real, Lanegan voice is legendary ... one of my favorites along with Staley and Cornell! Nobody can reach the low notes like Lanegan! A combo between Waits, Cohen and Morrison ... incredible!
@@vinyldiary6664 yeah I completely agree, he is also one of my favourite artist's.
Yes! !! Layne and Lanegan are among my favorite voices of all time.
@@lovingklimt you've got great taste
Josh Fallon Thanks!You too.
It's amazing the difference between Laynes singing style from AiC to Mad Season. He was one talented guy who just had one of those voices that could sing in any style of music. He was just simply amazing ❤
any style of music -> grunge
Layne Voice is just perfect!!
I hope Mark and Layne are singing this song in the afterlife RIP
Amazing how at 1:32 Mark is vacantly staring at Layne for all of his amazing ability. He was in awe, I am, you are, we all are. Chris did this justice and it was absolutely excellent but there is only one Layne, I love them all.
His voice is just unreal
Album is an absolute masterpiece
Best album I own
Oh man, still can't believe Mark is gone
Layne is absolutely georgeus in mad season , the album is soo underrated…
Layne voice gives me goose bumps ☺️ long gone day ☮️🙏 2all.. love 😘 John Norway hugs and kisses..
Layne was and still is the best Voice of the rock in general!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏 🇧🇷
Ill never stop listening to this masterpiece
Rest In Peace Mark, Layne and Baker... All gone way too soon... 💔
RIP to Layne, Mark and John Baker. So many talented souls gone too soon.
These are the right lyrics!

One of the greatest song ever.
This song is pure fucking magic.
The bass, the marimba. Outstanding
Mark Langen!
Another reason why the 90's rocked!
Very underrated super group
Finally the perfect Video of the song
Been down for years
shukk this has been around forever
Truly sad day, Rip Mark Lanegan 💔
Thank You Sir for everything!
Songs like this are like Metal meets Jazz and it WORKS.
Kinda like Death meets Life
2 of the greatest vocalists of all time!
Layne's voice compliments Lanegan's beautifully. Layne live was pure passion, intensity and we get to know why this young man was able to connect so beautifully with hi audience. To be able to sing like this live speaks volumes for his amazing voice and unique sound of making everything sound beautiful, especially pain.
No matter what Layne might be going through it's not going to stop his voice from being as good as it is.
how the hell could anyone come close to that crystal clear slicing voice. So missed!!
Grunge at its most elegant !
Layney and Chris Cornell were the greatest voices in rock in the 90s and one of the greatest voices in music in general.
They are gods of music, talent, mastery, range and vocal techniques of the highest levels.
Just found Mad Seasons after reading Mark Lanegans book. This is crazy good, so glad I found this.
Layne has one of the most insane ranges or any vocalist, his vibrato is absolutely flawless, he could sing with any artist IDC who it is and it would automatically make the song a million times better.
When I was a kid and would hear Billie Holiday's voice, I would get goosebumps and my ears would enter a magic place, same with Layne. His voice is like a laser passing through ice cream
Soul is just fucking pouring through. That piscean moon. Beautiful Layne. Fucking A
Yes- I calling it “the sound of cutting butter”
I listen to this at least every other day. Such a beautiful song.
the saxophone is so heavenly idk how to describe it. i literally float to the sky when i hear it
I was a senior in high school when this album came out. I was not in a good place and lived in a pretty abusive environment. This album kept me together. I'll never take for granted how powerful and healing music can be. I wish I could tell every one of these guys how much all their music still means to me after all these years.
Great comment and bless brother!
This is too fantastic, a masterpiece that Grunge created, two absurd talents immortalized in this music.
Only singer that sounds 1000 times better live than on album. Hows that possible
CRAZY, I cant believe those two are gone!!! What talent!!!!
RIP Mark. 2022 sux already.
Such a beautiful, gorgeous song. Wish Layne was still with us!!!
This is AWESOME !!! Love everything bout it !! Sax is killer
One of the best things the Pacific Northwest ever blessed the world with was this sound.
My favorite singer is Scott Weiland but every time I hear Layne’s voice it gives me chills. What a voice, how can someone deliver so many emotions just using his voice
Rest in peace legends!
You’re gone Mark! Rest In Peace 2/22/2022 Two long Gone days…--
To me this song is about a man who has destroyed his relationship with everyone around him by abusing drugs to the point even if he becomes sober he can never go back to how it was before. Mark Lanegan's voice represents the narrator's internal struggle, knowing he is fucked up beyond repair but he can't help but want the old days back. Layne's voice represents his struggle with other people, there is nostalgia in his voice. He wants things to go back to before he pushed everyone away but he's begging them. When Mark's voice returns we know that Layne's cry for help failed. Layne's final lines "I fear again like then I've lost my way, shout to God to bring my sunny day." He has given up hope of mending his relationships.
I could write a book about this song, and a lot of Layne's other lyrics. Maybe someday I will.
You're Gifted !!!
We're waiting for it!
Where's the book oh wise one
That last line, man! I remember I showed this song to a friend and told him to listen to that last line.. He started crying really hard. :/
@@JaymeMejia Its powerful stuff. I never used drugs but this always makes me think of the friends I've lost, it's a somber feeling
4:55 And shout to God to bring my sunny day!!! God, Layne
The delivery.......bringing home the groceries.......every time......
I play this song almost weekly to this day,. I love it SO much! Layne's voice puts his other "grungemates" to shame. He has one of the most amazing voices ever and this song grooves so much.
He’s technically not the best singer, chris Cornell is. Layne always makes a few mistakes but hey it’s rock and roll.
@@smkxodnwbwkdns8369I’m sick and tired about this Cornell bullshit don’t compare that overrated singer with Layne!
So much talent. What an incredible song.
Rest Mark Lanegan..and I hope Layne you are at peace with your voices you initially were blessed with..
This entire album resonated with me and the universe.
Hoping we all reunite one time🕷
I can’t believe they’re both gone. RIP Layne and Mark. This song has been one of my favorites since the first time I heard it, thanks to my music teacher when I was in 10th grade.
"who ever said we washed away with the rain" - thats a clear reference to "wash away the rain" verse on black hole sun from soudgarden. Layne was an amazing writter
Such an unbelievably beautiful album. So many years later and I still get to enjoy the stuff the Seattle guys were doing
Shout to GOD to bring my sunny day AMEN 🙏🙏 🙏 IN JESUS NAME ..LOVE THE SAX ❤️ !!!;
true artistry, real music... my religion. RIP John and Layne
Love this Sooo very much!!! Such a treasure!!! What a great combination of talent....
even now, the end of 2022, i still put this song on late at night with a bottle of wiskey. RIP ALL THE GUYS
Layne was pivotal in the mainstream rock sound changing from glam metal to grunge in the early 90s - and then from grunge to neo psychedelia in the latter half of the decade. I can't express or appreciate HOW creative he was. His choice of passages and patterns are so nuanced yet effortless. brilliance by day 9
Yes, grunge was a breath of fresh air with all the glam rock crap and speed-of-light guitar solos, etc. AIC managed to sort of coast along in both the grunge and heavy metal world and did some really innovative stuff with vocal harmonies, lower guitar tunings, etc. Layne was a great artist and I'm glad we can still access this old concert footage. Classic stuff.
Rest In Peace Mark Lanegan - you truly stoked a fire for one of the greatest eras in music ever...
Love this so much! The harmonies are perfect, great addition Mark! You add a Jim Morrison feel…smooth as silk and just so cool….RIP💜💜🙏🏻🙏🏻😇😇💜💜☮️☮️
My thoughts exactly when I first saw this !!!
He hated that comparison.
Their sound was so different and creative, love them👌
3 of these legends have passed...sucks.
the sax line around 4:43 sounds like come as you are by nirvana
Great ear 👂 👌 👍
Look at Baker Saunders shake his head and look over his sunglasses at Layne when he belts out the note higher around 4:45. Baker had been a fan and I can only imagine how awesome it was for him to be in Layne's company creating music with him. Amazing.
My love for Layne Staley has gotten me through the years but Mark vocals on this song was amazing. Two of the greatest singers to ever bless the microphone Layne wailing mixed with Mark deep and gutter vocals was perfection.
RIP Mark & Layne 🌹♥🌹
Gone but never forgotten 💔💙⚘
