Whats that phrase about maru, "when you think your ahead, your actually even, when you think your even, your actually behind, and when you think your behind, your dead". I think we can safely add a new line to it "when you think hes dead, you're actually just ahead".
Actually he is , just that balance doesnt help him, zerg creep spreeding everywhere and zerg army a click, requiere few skill in comparisom a terran army
@@pdrpm8269 well i reach diamond 2 with zerg before switch terran. The only struggle vs terran was multidrop and spread creep, after that, is just macro and good hotkeys.
This was such a good game. Obviously Maru's tenacity is a highligh, but Reynor's big attack at 4:37 was really impressive too, knowing exactly the unit Maru didn't have enough of and being able to capitalize while his army was in transition, that push won him the game, even if it took another 10 minutes.
true. all these "invisible" and "unflashy" side of things make viewers think that Reynor is just riding on an unbalanced race while Maru is doing his best to just survive. The decision making in Reynor's side, the unrivaled macro, the incredible creep spread (how often do you see a creep spread deny a fourth?!), the almost-perfect engagements (Maru is just fucking insane with his micro), all of them are testaments to his skills. There's a reason why it's always the same players are on the top and it's not race balance, it's because they're the fucking best players in the world
What a game! When Maru started losing, I check and saw that half of the video was left. I was literally at the edge of my seat for the rest. Thanks for uploading and it’s good to see you guys again!
How can anything watch this and still think that Zerg isnt overpowered? Like Reynor was behind at multiple points in the early game, but yet managed to pull through with just one single tactical Broodlord play. It simply isnt fair that a Zerg player deserves multiple comebacks, whilst it takes a whole lot of maneuvering and outsmarting for Terran and Protoss players. Maru is the true winner in this game, hands down.
Lol, he never said that. Arty actually says Maru has yet to prove himself overseas. His solid GSL record unfortunately doesn’t translate very into international recognition
Everyone who sleep on Ghost’s are the people who ask “how the hell does Maru do it?”. It’s simple, Ghosts hit like a freaking nuke when ran in a 6+ squad with full upgrades. People have yet to figure out a strat against it. Run tank units as shields while the ghost hang back and destroy the entire enemy army.
Ghosts are only effective against Zerg because of their Snipe, which ignores armor and can only target biological units. But they also can't take damage while casting it or it gets cancelled. Ghosts aren't nearly as overwhelmingly powerful as they used to be, now that they don't have the Mobius Reactor upgrade, that increases the energy they start with. Both Snipe and Cloak requires energy, so you can expect a Ghost using Cloak and Snipe constantly to be easy pickings. The "strat" to deal with them is to keep sending attacks against the Terran's Ghosts, as they *will* run out of energy.
The coolest thing about this tournament is that regardless of who the champion was, it showcased that Maru is OBJECTIVELY THE BEST human to ever put his hands on this game. So efficient and elating to watch.
Even when he's behind Maru still manages to make you feel like he's ahead. Reynor's macro was just enough to overpower Maru, but damn was this a close match.
Terran is the most resilience race I've ever seen in this game, no way toss or zerg can take such dmg economic speaking and still be in the game. Terran's mules are freaking insane
Insane game by Maru, but Raynor really did commit the cardinal sin of not getting at LEAST one viper to travel with his army at all times. Sure, the ghosts snipe or EMP it but that one blinding cloud or abduct would have been huge in breaking those tank and Thor lines
How did that even happen? Maru was causing so much economic damage I can't believe Raynor dug himself out from that. As far as I'm concerned Maru is still the #1 in the world, he held out like a GOD in those last 5 minutes
Maru has confirmed he is THE TERRAN GOD. No one and I mean no one comes close. Clem, Byun & INnoVation are amazing but Maru is a beast of no equal. He has mastered the art of turtling and keeping his ghosts alive well past their due dates. This is coming from a zerg fan.
This wouldn't have been as strong on the most recent patch because Queens can no longer use Transfusion off of creep. So they were a bit too strong at this point, but they aren't impossibly strong. The current Top 10 consists of 5 Zerg, 4 Terran, and 1 Protoss, while the Top 25 consists of 10 Protoss, 9 Zerg, and 6 Terran.
I was so scared for Reynor the whole game holy shit. He was on the backfoot at the start until he hit a nice timing attack and even then it did not feel like Maru was losing
Imagine giving proper firebats and Medics to Maru! Or just give static defense to negate zerling run by like auto turrets (removed from Raven) and Flamming betties Maru could have had so much more units and win this with how hout of this airline this guy skill is !
How is this his ultimate terran push? He's getting pushed the whole time. Maru's Ultimate terran push was when he did this against serral and actually won the game.
In my opinion Reynor wanted to lose that game. Committing to only t1/t2 units after 14min game-time and not incorporate ultra/vipers was probably the only way to throw that game vs mech.
If Reynor wanted to throw going ultras would have done it. The problem with going late game tech against high ghost counts is you merely increase the cost efficiency of the ghost army. Snipe and emp counters ALL late game zerg tech. Which is why most pro zerg dont bother and just stay on cheap and highly spammable armies like ling bane. MAru is too good with his ghosts. Any viper would have been emp'd or sniped. And ultras against tank ghost would die before they even get one swipe in. Its just not worth the investment. Against weaker players its viable but even in Diamond some players are good enough where going Ultra viper against a terran with semi decent ghost control feels like im just tossing money into a bonfire.
"Mech looks unbeatable..." Meanwhile Reynor just casually steamrolling the best Terran in the world without even trying, because Terran are a completely dead race.
Casually steamrolling? Reynor had to fight tooth and nail not to die to Maru's push. And that was after he denied all of MAru's mining and it was still a likely scenario that Maru just kills him with his cost efficient army. Ghosts are no joke.
Casters -- What would he transition into Also Casters -- Maru's tank positioning is to good Me -- Viper says yoink Legit so much of what Maru did here defensively just falls apart of Raynor builds vipers and starts just pulling tanks/thors and bleeding Maru instead of just ramming floods of units into his ghosts/tanks/thor defense lines.
The one near the end of the video with the thors that almost crippled raynor. It was an insanely good push, and in any other game that sort of fight would have put maru way ahead. In this one, it brought him from dead to just behind.
With that many ghosts on the field? Better to just keep spamming rather than money sinking into units that can get sniped or emp'd and end up not getting any real value to justify their cost.
So what else is maru supposed to do? Kills over 30 drones in the early game and still dies to the 5 minute push, how amazingly insanely ridiculously well do you have to play to even have a chance against a zerg player, watching sc2 is pretty bland for the last few years considering you know who's gonna win the tournament before it starts
Whats that phrase about maru, "when you think your ahead, your actually even, when you think your even, your actually behind, and when you think your behind, your dead". I think we can safely add a new line to it "when you think hes dead, you're actually just ahead".
You might have used the wrong "your" the first six times, but at least you figured it out in the end.
