The generic length of a 30-60-90 triangle is 2s, so set up an equation 2s=30...divide by 2 and s=15 which is the shortest side opposite of 30. The side opposite of 60 is 15 square root of 2. I hope this make sense and thank you very much for watching:):):)

I just wanted to say thank you! My teacher for my College Algebra class wasn't able to explain the material very well online and finally after watching countless videos online, I finally came across your stuff. I watched you every week, for each new lesson we learned (you had a video for every lesson/technique we learned). After watching your videos I was finally able to understand the math 100%, no one else came close to explaining the material like you do. I told all my classmates and they started watching you too....you saved us all. We are saying BAM now here in Ohio at OSU! Thank you so much for helping me get my A, no way I would have passed if it wasn't for you. You have a talent for teaching/explaining math and it was a pleasure to learn this stuff with you. Thank you so much!

Mrs Tarrou here...What an AWESOME testimonial message christy horton I'm thrilled to hear that these videos have been helping so many of you at OSU and we truly appreciate all the sharing with your classmates...but here is how I see it, how come a school with 63,000 students can't rally together and all subscribe to #ProfRobBob so we can reach this years goal of 100,000 subscribers by 2015?!
Another OSU student "akalis13" back in October said he would spread the word but we are still only at 55,000+
There must be some way to post my channel info to a student info board or webpage and/or start a campaign to get them all to watch and SUBSCRIBE before the end of the year...and you look like just the girl who could "MAKE IT HAPPEN"
I'm his biggest fan and I promise you, he works very hard at his full-time teaching job in addition to adding new videos and trying to groW this channel AND have a little personal time somewhere included in all that...I'm NOT complaining, just reaching out to students like yourself who have shared their success stories...well, that just makes me want the WORLD to be able to benefit from all the passion and work he puts into his channel!
All kidding aside, any and all help would be appreciated whether it's just by sharing this channel with students and teachers and reminding them to like, subscribe, share thru social media, like us on Facebook and keep spreading the word:D
I know it will happen in good time...but I'll always remain his BIGGEST fan and support! Thanks for letting me ramble christy horton :)

Professor RobBob,thank you for another amazing video/lecture on Special Right Triangles 45-45-90 and 30-60-90. This material is helpful for students who will be taking Trigonometry in the near future. The Pythagorean Theorem is an important theorem that students should be learning in this process.

If you look at the triangle in the right side of the diagram you will notice little hash marks on the two legs. Those marks mean the two legs are equal and so the right triangle is a 45-45-90 triangle. Thank you very much for watching. I hope I answered your question:)

It is really amazing how, you can review X number of textbooks, videos etc and it just will not stick and then there is just one simple example and it all becomes clear! Example : for a 30,60,90 right triangle with the sides of L√3,L and 2L. Other sources really did make it tricky with making the hypotenuse equal to 1 so the other 2 sides are √3 over 2 and 1/2 . Anyway a big thank you @ProfRobBob for all your videos and how you make subjects that other teachers make difficult really simple. I wish I had your videos when I was in primary and secondary education rather than trying to relearn now im 30! After university etc in order to pass the GMAT. Super resource keep up the good work and making good teaching accessible to everybody!

    When you start solving for C @ 17:15, how do you go from a 30 60 90 to a 90 45 45 triangle? is it b/c since b in the 30 60 90 triangle is 90degrees, then the hypotenuse in C becomes a 45 45 angle?. in another words how did you decide b & C is a 90 45 45 triangle?... i hope I'm being clear in my question.
    Please help?....
    Thanks :)

    Professor.
I'm a college student and was given a vague word problem and need major help even starting it. If you happen to know how to do this please please help. The problem is as follows: The length of a leg of a Right Triangle is 15 ft. The length of the hypotenuse is 5ft longer than the other leg. Find the length of the hypotenuse and the other leg. Again any help would truly be appreciated.
