I just made up the angle for the example. The angle of elevation from the left building to the right would be equal to the angle of depression from the building on the right to the left. This is because if parallel lines are crossed by a transversal the alternate interior angles are equal.
Whenever my students follow all my steps in class but are still getting the wrong answer, we almost always discover there calculators are in the wrong mode. All of these examples have angles measured in degrees not radians, so make sure you calculator is degree mode. If that does not work just keep trying:)

also side note instead of multiplying each side by X to get rid of it could I cross multiply just put lets say sin(40) over 1 and 70 over X?
