you like Norman Osborn? He's literally the Danzo of this game. Go to hell. I mean think about it, when Spidey refuses to help others, Uncle Ben dies, when He helps others, Aunt May dies, why is it that Spider-Man has to deal with this and no matter what he does, people around him who are pure noble people and better than the average joe suffer. Spider-Man’s depressing Schtick and Motto about life is that even if your life is the worst and society is mean and doesn’t give a shit about you at all to do the right thing. That is so true and depressing just look at his origin. People didn’t care at all about Peter Parker and no wonder he let the thug go, And LIFE and NATURE (which I consider to be evil existential and conscious forces) punish him for letting out his frustration and anger on the world rather than boiling it within him and destroying him. The world and society force him to take responsibility while everyone else and the worst of the worst(Norman Osborn) get away with their irresponsibility and prosper in their lives. Think about it, why is it so true and relates to our world. Why do we have to go through Life like this likes it’s an inescapable and psychologically/internally and insufferable eternal hell. The answer would be that their are pure and absolute evil, sadistic, and conscious forces who fuck up the lives of good people who deserve better for their sadistic pleasure and entertainment and control, screw with and manipulate our lives, events around us, our thoughts, emotions, and actions to make us suffer for no reason. Spider-Man is proof we live in the Matrix and that live is an insufferable and inescapable hell that is being controlled by evil forces outside the universe that are secretly , unknowingly, and psychologically tormenting and torture us for no reason and do it in really well and hidden ways and affect the external factors around us that makes us repeat our wrong habits and the unnecessarily bad things that repeatedly happen in our lives that are not in our control or responsibility and speed up time so uncomfortably fast to make us miss the moment and feel forever trapped and miserable. Explain me this quote “You know what kind of plan never fails? No plan. No plan at all. You know why? Because life cannot be planned”. Why else would our plans fail? Because life gets in the way and it’s those specific and sadistic evil conscious forces that ruin our plans. Anyone else this is the greatest spider man game in history!
Otto is a monster even at the last. First, he appeals to Peter as a father 'I saw you as a son', his morals 'We have to do whats best for those beneath us', as a partner, 'we can fix it, if you'il help me', his emotions, 'Peter, that wasnt me', his conscience 'You'il never leave me, you promised' and finally blackmailing him 'your secret is safe with me'. Only after Peter, with all that he had, outrightly rejects him, that Otto screams his name, knowing full well he is utterly defeated. The real battle wasnt on the roof. It wasnt on the side of the building. It wasnt between Spiderman and doc Oct. It was between Peter and Otto, a hero and his fallen comrade, to the very end.

Underrated.
Making things so much worse is that when you go to the lab to help Dr Octavius with the prosthetics (before they move onto the neural interface) is that by the exit you can see 3D printouts for what will become Rhino and Electros armor. Even from the very beginning, when he seemed sympathetic, he was just as monstrous as he was in the end.
The cool thing is that they also managed to give us a hint of how truly ruthless and evil the Goblin is gonna be. Otto was a good man who suffered too much and just couldn’t endure it anymore, so he went crazy. But Osborn? Osborn, while presumably fully convinced that he’s about to die, uses his very last words to do even more psychological damage to Otto. And he KNOWS he’s the one who started that damage in the first place. I mean, the careless way Peter catches him speaks volumes: this is one of the most virtuous versions of Spidey we’ve ever seen, and yet even he clearly hates having to save this scumbag.

I'm really hoping we see Green Goblin in a future game!!!! Of course NOTHING will EVER compare to Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, but being that he's my favorite Spider-Man villain I'm excited to see what the games do with him if anything! I gotta be honest, I wasn't super crazy about this Otto to begin with, but when he started to go insane and get more and more angry I liked him a lot more.
@@CopeGaming129 He did, but it doesn't ignore the fact Norman in this universe, like in many universes, is a MONSTER, all about control no matter what he does to get it. And his actions show he's going to release something worse in Spider-Man 2 with the Black Suit and what it will do to Peter.
The writing in this game is quite well done given the motivational balancing of all the characters, and the timeline of events they set up that perfectly explain why Otto, Li, and Norman do exactly what they do.
Norman rushed the experiments with Martin because his wife was dying, but that lead to Mr. Negative and the falling out with Otto as Otto was indeed against this inhumane rush of an experiment with Martin at the time.
Then of course, Norman still kept trying to make Gr-27 despite the risks because his son's life was now on the line after losing his wife. You can kinda see when Norman started being a dickhead, because after losing her, he didn't care about anyone else other than his son.
And in Otto and Li's eyes, Norman was simply an arrogant monster. Which granted, Norman is arrogant, but they could never see the hurt the man actually had to make him so seemingly heartless.
Basically, it's brilliant storytelling for all of these antagonists of the game. Looking forward to seeing Goblin in the third game as I imagine Harry will probably die in the second, causing Norman to probably blame it on Spidey and/or Peter.
Theres hints in the game the green goblin is coming remember the goblin bombs thats in the seceret room during the mj mission plus the helmet she puts on is a replica lf the green goblin he will most likley be the 3rd villian.

13:57 two things I have to say about this moment. 1. Props to the actor who did this so wonderfully. It's not easy to give a realistic scream, but this dude really made me feel Spideys pain from this.
2. I dont have this game so I just watched a LP for it, and this moment literally made my jaw drop. It perfectly encapsulates Spiderman as a character. He may be goofy and funny sometimes, but in the end he has some of the darkest marvel stories, and is always willing to make the final sacrifice.

I think the old one shows more emotion because it was the face made for the game and the new one was just places on top of that one

This game is just perfect. The graphics, story, combat, everything. They nailed everyone's personality, and MJ is awesome in this game instead of being annoying. I was afraid they were going to with the whole damsel in destress shit where you have to keep saving her, thankfully they didn't.

That's the Peter Parker I've always loved.
"You knew!" and "You were everything I wanted to be!" hits so hard. Until this point Otto was his missing father figure, Peter realised in that instance Otto wasn't just trying to kill Spider-Man he was trying to kill him, knowing it all this time. This guy's been there for a great part of Peter's life in the same way or even more than Uncle Ben could if he was alive; helped him through university and his thesis, showing him unintentionally how he could make a difference without the need of being Spider-Man, gave him a job as an equal, hell... Peter even uses Otto as a close contact for his apartment lease from the backpack collectibles; you simply can't put this much faith on a lab partner if there wasn't mutual respect and love. Absolutely heartbreaking tragedy and steallar voice acting on both parties.
I personally think this is my favorite version of Otto. The way he was written for this game is unbelievable. Well done Insomniac

What made this even more incredible was the fact that the game made me actually feel sorry for Otto, which is something I never would have expected. The acting in the entire game was superb but this final battle was absolutely incredible. GOTY for me.
Most of the villains in the game are rather sympathetic. Otto, Osborn, and Li are extremely sympathetic villains.

I can’t help but draw similarities between Otto and Thanos. Both believe that they are doing things for the greater good, only they don’t see how much pain they’re causing. I love the contrast between the two times Peter exclaims, “You knew.” The first time you can hear the absolute disbelief in his voice: “You knew?” Almost like a son finding out their parent did something that completely wrecked the image of them that they had in their minds for the majority of their lives.

Peter goes from being shocked and dismayed immediately to pure unadulterated rage. You can hear it. You can FEEL it. Yuri Lowenthal will always be the definitive voice of Spider-Man to me after this game. What a masterful performance, not just vocally, but in general.
Oh definitely!!!! This is my favorite version of Spider-Man by far, and I actually got to meet Yuri twice in 2023! Once in Kansas City Missouri where I live, and I flew to Burbank, CA the second time to go to this big Spider-Man signing that happened there! I actually got to meet William Salyers, the voice of Otto at the Burbank event! They're both super nice, and Yuri gave me a big hug the first time I met him! I was wearing the Advanced Suit, and we talked about the Sinister Six fights for like 5 minutes! I would give ANYTHING to talk to him for hours about these amazing games! 😁😁😁❤️💙🕷️🕸️
I just love how when the fight starts the subtitles say “spider-man” but then it changes to “Peter” after his mask gets ripped, that little detail shows that it was him speaking honestly to someone that he considered a friend

Why can't movies be this good? This game was definitely influenced by the Arkham games. The studio made their own Spider-Man and it is fantastic. The story was insanely driven well by good writers. I've never been this in awe of a game since the Batman Arkham games. Game of the year hands down.

The final phase of the fight on the side of the oscorp building is still one of the most visually gorgeous and epic set pieces i’ve seen in a videogame. Everything the music, the drama between the characters, the performances, everything. Is perfect
But for green goblin final boss fight, it will be more darker, horror, brutal and dramatic. More than a tragic final fight between spidey vs doctor octopus.

Well at that moment, Otto said that it made sense that Peter was working with Spider-Man when he found the suit. I guess overtime he pieced it together off screen which when you get down to it and how smart Otto is, it makes sense.

Everything about this battle is beautiful. The writing, the dialogue, the cinematics, the underlying tone of it all. This isn't just a final boss, it's a battle for forgiveness and acceptance. I have yet to play this game first hand but this is why I love these types of games

I love how when Otto tells him he looks tired, Peter says he's just hurt. I feel like that response carries a lot of emotion and perfectly exemplifies what Peter is feeling, as his mentor is lost.
This was emotional, but the scene immediately following this one broke me. I NEVER cried for a game before. But when Peter said "I don't know what to do" and May saying "yes you do," knowing she had to die so the rest of NYC could be saved. That broke me. I bawled for a good 5 minutes. This game is so dam good!

Honestly this hands down has to be my favorite final boss in any licensed game period. It’s epic, cinematic and emotional all at once, and is fantastic finale for an even more fantastic game.👌🏽
The final boss for Miles Morales wasn’t quite as epic in scope, but it did still tug on my heartstrings, especially due to the ending.

This scene is great, time to make a flaw of it unseeable, spider cense should have activated in that moment, with the little spider cense effect that shows up in game.
The fact that you can not only sympathize with Peter, but with Octavius as well is a true testament to the writing staff behind the game.

God, Yuri did _not_ have to go this hard, but he did and it was AMAZING. Peter's desperation to reason with Otto, his rage when he discovered Otto knew his secret the whole time, his anguish when fighting him on the side of the building, his absolute heartbreak at the end... all of it was because Yuri went all out for this performance.

Peter was fooled and that’s why he was surprised at the end, because he thought Oct didn’t know

Peter: his plan had him branded as a fugitive, killed an untold amount of people (including, specifically, Aunt May) and spat in the face of his own dedication and worship of him. His own role model becoming a murderpus psychopath.
Otto: sees Peter as a traitor, the last person he trusted and loved who sided with his enemy over him and left his to degenerate in a prison cell and took his only chance at freedom/mobility from him.
Their next battle is going to be *rough* and I love it.
