she did a few reps for demonstration and not 3 sets of 10 reps for each exercise. then they had to add and remove different benches which mean she did some rest here and there.
Because he's underrated but if you hit that like button more people can get put on to the Glute Master. Brett you will definitely get to 1million subs and beyond. Keep on keeping on.
I agree. I hated hip thrusts until I tried them on the smith. Setting up a barbell was a pain. Then, my gym got a Nautilus Glute Drive. I don’t know how, but that machine really hits the glutes better.
I am pretty sure that no one else on TH-cam has given the world such a comprehensive and wonderfully edited video on Smith machine training -- not just for the glutes, but overall! Ashley's execution was very impressive. This is world class personal training given away for free.
It's refreshing seeing someone not only talking positively about the smith machine but showing so many exercises on them. I too like the other commenter have their membership at Planet Fitness so this was a very useful video. Thanks Bret.
I like utilizing the smith machine for heavy loaded glute bridges! This takes the tension/stress off of my forearms and neck. The gravity of heavy weight from a free barbell, when going heavy, pushes the weight forward causes me stress. The smith machine solved this issue!
My man. I’m all for using these movements. Most men won’t go beyond squats and DLs. To each their own. But I love a good leg day in the gym and I’ve recently joined a franchise where no BBs are used, so I gotta get creative with the smith machine. Thanx for the ideas, Bret
I like doing Hip Thrusts on the smith machine. It's easier to set up and I can put higher weights and get closer to failure without having to do 30 or 60 reps. For squats, I'll prefer the barbell, but I still like the smith machine
Don't overdo it. 3-4 exercises per muscle group is enough per training session. It's easy to do too much and then you'll overstrain, get inflamed and may even injure yourself.
I have had so many people tell me that I shouldn’t be using a smith machine, as a newbie I wasn’t sure! I am so glad I found this video, You are a legend! Thank you ❤️
I have a functional training cage. It's a half rack, smith machine and cable machine all in one. I don't have the luxury of a spotter when I work out so if I want to go heavy but do so safely, the smith machine is great for keeping me safe because I can simply rotate the bar forward if I'm having trouble or fall back on the safety catches that I can set under the bar. I hadn't even thought of doing some of these exercises so you really helped me out. Thank you :)
I've recently starting using the smith machine for squats. I love it and I can go much deeper with my squats to feel my glutes. I don't want to go back to regular squats. Can't wait to try hip thrust with this machine as well.
LOVE The Smith Machine , I do have to get back in the Gym. took some time off. then Mom passed now taking care of my 91 yr old father. BU... Now more then ever I NEED THE GYM !! Thanks your the Best !!!
I Just bought an Smith Machine since I don't have time to go to the gim. Basically I only have that equipment and the changes I'd seen are incredible! TY Bret! 🍑
Good to know that the exercise I figured out on my own has a name! The Quadruped Hip Extension. Sometimes I do it on the floor pushing the "arm" of the hamstring curl machine if the Smith machine is occupied. It's SUCH a great glute exercise!
I really enjoy your videos. As someone who doesn't do social media it's always nice to be able to watch a full video on your Glute Info without having to create an account. Thank you again for taking the time to make these and share them here. 🙏 😊 ❤️
Hey Bret: this was really informative. Thanks to u and ur amazing lifter-my lord, did she do all those sets in one shoot?! As for ideas: how bout using this format for a video on landmine exercises and another on cables?
I suffered a tibial plateau fracture a few years back that prevents me from doing some squats with barbells. I love using the Smith machine and it’s great stability. It’s really been a contributing factor in not progressing into bone on bone arthritis. I love working my glutes!!! Thank you for your great information! I love your channel.
A smith machine is nice for those that workout almost exclusively alone too. In general, I don’t have to worry about a spotter. I prefer a smith machine and hope that one day people will listen to you and realize they’re not so bad!
i’m a newbie in the gym and this video was so helpful! my focus is weight loss but also wanting to get strong so knowing i have so many options on a smith machine outside of squats and chest presses is a god send! thank you for this!!
If you want to get strong check out Starting Strength. It's a book but there's a channel on here by the same name and a SS forum for discussion, questions, support. My main goal was hypertrophy training (bodybuilding) but it took me YEARS to learn as a natural I needed a good strong foundation for best results and that's when I discovered it. Rick Santana can help you with diet on the forums if you want to lose weight while trying to get stronger (it's possible).
I don't care what anyone says, I love the Smith Machine and now I'm glad to see that Bret agrees with me. I have some back and hip issues that keep me from doing normal squats and I've been trying too. But I just can't figure them out in a way that is safe for my back. However, the smith machine allows me more controlled movements and I can change the different angles and work the legs and glutes differently and then I do some unilateral movements for the legs. Great video.
Love that the using the smith machine will work the glutes. I go to the cheap gym and only have access to smith machine when using more weight than 60lbs. Thanks for not hating the smith machine!
Awesome instructional educational training exercises for the gluteus Maximus using the Smith Machine. Thanks for the new exercises. I enjoy the Smith Machine. Love what I saw!!!!
I recently used your guide to hip thrust form and OFFF MY GLUTES WERE ON FIRE. PLEASE TEACH THE FORM FOR DIFFERENT EXERCISES. YOU’RE AN AMAZING TEACHER
Hey Bret, I know you are known as the Glute Guy but I have been following your personalized programming and speaking from my experience your programming for every muscle group is really great. I'm looking forward to future videos about other muscle groups, as well as programming tips like deloading and working up to a PR. Awesome to see these popping up on TH-cam, really appreciate your contributions to this online fitness space!
I mean, I don’t know how we can thank you for such valuable informations. I have been following your for many years now and I just love the knowledge you have and share with us. You are the best and always an inspiration for me 🙏🏼
This is honestly so helpful. Just switched over from Gold's to Planet Fitness to save big bucks, but the lack of free weights and a proper barbell is killing me. Love this!
Wow!! Bravo! The woman is strong!! Also the extensive info about the smith machine is awesome! It definitely opened my mind to what I can do at the gym!! Can’t wait ! 🔥
I am one of those guilty of being very snooty about the Smith Machine. But I've recently discovered it is indispensable as a much needed stabilizer for the Romanian Split Squat. When I started getting heavier with those it started getting scary for my knees. Smith keeps everything solid.
Hey! I didn't know all the exercises you can do on the smith just to burn those glutes! I also have been watching other of your videos and your tips are really helpful! Thanks for sharing! You actually deserve to be called the GluteGuy! 😎😎
Thanks, Bret I am really enjoying having you back on TH-cam, and as always your videos are full of great content both educational and enjoyable to watch. Thanks Maureen
I love the smith machine because I don't have a lot of time to work out sometimes and it saves me the hassle of loading up the barbells! Side note, the lady in your video is amazing! :)
Love this, I've got an angled smith machine in my gym, but I've always been uncertain of what to do with it. This is super helpful, can't wait to try a few of these tomorrow.

Absolutely the smith machine is good for budding your glutes. It’s safer too because you can put on the safety locks on. Smith machine is perfect for newbies or people not comfortable using the bar.

Shout out to the girl who just did 30 differrnt exercises in one day, with weights, for a demo video. Damn.
she did a few reps for demonstration and not 3 sets of 10 reps for each exercise. then they had to add and remove different benches which mean she did some rest here and there.

He's the GLUTE GUY! How the hell does he not have at least 1 million subs
I’ll get there! 🙂
Girl idk but I just subscribed...been watching for months and just realized the other day I wasn't 😒
Because he doesn’t clickbait like the rest of the “gurus”.
Looooove me some Brett!
Because he's underrated but if you hit that like button more people can get put on to the Glute Master. Brett you will definitely get to 1million subs and beyond. Keep on keeping on.
BBL! I’m going to the gym
I prefer smith machine hip thrusts simply because the set-up is easier.
Same
Dido saves so much time in the gym
I feel like it’s always harder 😩 I can’t ever get the length between the bench and the bar
I actually feel the exercise in my glutes using the Smith machine and got extremely strong doing so. A free-bar hip thrust is a thigh exercise to me!
I agree. I hated hip thrusts until I tried them on the smith. Setting up a barbell was a pain. Then, my gym got a Nautilus Glute Drive. I don’t know how, but that machine really hits the glutes better.

Nope
💯

I had no idea so many glute exercises could be done with a Smith machine! Thank you for this super informative video.
This lady got a hell of a workout to film this video. Props to her!

Side booty workout for ruler shaped 🤓in other words those that hardly have hips
I love the smith machine for hip thrusts. I’ve tried to use a barbell for them like most people do, but I can tell my form is being compromised.

Done the frog kick today for the first time and oh God the sweat was dripping on me, some amazing exercise for the glut max, my new fave ❤
I am incorporating like 7 of these at least into leg day!!!
Fantastic workouts and great summary - phenomenal video.
Don't overdo it. 3-4 exercises per muscle group is enough per training session. It's easy to do too much and then you'll overstrain, get inflamed and may even injure yourself.

I’ve seen a lot of people say you don’t need to ‘squeeze’ the glutes on exercises. Would love to see you set the record straight for this.
