I love the title “Criterion Crumbs”! I need to rewatch this one. I saw it many years ago and can’t really remember how I felt about it except to say that I must have had positive enough feelings since I want to see it again. Very much looking forward to more Crumbs in the future!

Hello Filozsofia! Good critique of Eyes without a Face. The disfigured daughter is the most moral character in the movie and is the one who stops her cold hearted father and his twistedly loyal assistant. The scalpel plunging into the pearl choker is unforgettable. The ending is very tragic and poetic. Blood of the Beasts is always shown with "Eyes" It shows what goes on in a slaughterhouse. No one ever forgets that white horse being killed and slaughtered. But Beasts is very poetic too - the workers singing La Mer while butchering the sheep. You are right though at the big screen showing of the two Franju films that I attended half of the audience fled the theatre during Blood of the Beasts and did not get to see Eyes Without a Face.

Love your deep dive videos, I picked this one up in a previous B&N sale I believe and I felt similar on a lot of aspects. Thank you for the warning on the documentary! I saw it listed but not something I feel the need to witness. Really intriguing film overall, but I agree that it's tough to give a rating to a film like this

I need to watch this one again now. I saw the old Criterion DVD in the 2000s through Netflix's DVD mail service. That sounds like ancient history now 😂

I agree. I don't like having to give number ratings on my Letterboxed, but I feel obligated to give the rating. I am usually pretty lienient on them. I also feel like only doing 1-5 ratings gives me a hard time. So many movies I think are 3 to 3.5 out of 5, but really a lot of movies in that range aren't equals.
That is weird that they added the documentary. Was it something the directory did in his past?

Funny, I just purchased this Criterion Blu Ray myself. I've long wanted to enjoy a cinematic experience with this somewhat iconic film. And while I know I'll appreciate the atmospheric, creepy qualities of the story and visuals, as well as enjoying the movie overall, I'm definitely NOT going to watch that documentary. Thank you for the heads up!
I'm a person that would fly into the scene (if I could) to save that horse, and get it out of harm's way from these heinous, heartless & emotionally ignorant people who would do such a thing. I adore movies, and as a musician, music as well, but I also love and protect animals. So, obviously, I genuinely loathe animal violence, and have "0" respect for any so called "filmmakers" who do such brutal, sickening things and attempt to disguise it as "art"
So again, thank you very much for the warning, and I'm sorry that you and your husband had to see that. As soon as you said "gun" I instantly said to myself, "no, don't look, turn it off!" As a film fan, I've unfortunately endured these kinds of stomach turning, emotionally upsetting "unerasable images" (eg, the horrible sea turtle scene in Cannibal Holocaust, which is something that still angers me, nearly 15 years after seeing it) So, I truly do feel for you.
Honestly, for me, just "hearing you describe it," stings me in the heart. And obviously, you picture it in your head. I just know this... If I could get into a time capsule, I'd go straight to that moment, when whichever heartless ***hole pulls out that gun on the horse, and smash both of them in the head with a shovel before they could do it Then I'd ride that horse off to safety! Maybe treat him/her to a couple of nice apples and tell him/her that they won't ever be treated like that again.
    Marc

I’m my opinion I can Express myself better about movies by Taking To the camera in videos like I was talking to a person. I can not get my opinion out in writing because I was never a writer and I can’t pick the words to express the way I feel by typing up reviews. But it just me some people are the opposite in a very good at writing reviews. Its what ever you feel comfortable with .

Today There are such things as face transplant. I’ve seen videos on TH-cam about it, it’s really not something pleasant to see but if it works for somebody then they get their face back but when you look in the mirror it’s somebody else. Don’t know what to think about the rest your life if you have someone else’s face .

There is a more common used term for masks or face masks. Masks work on the face. They are referred to as Kabukis. I was considering doing my own or some commentary your own for a fo over it as it's being watched just sharing. And perhaps we can commentate on a film or movie together. Just consider it this. Like a shared voice call over TH-cam or something. You seem interested which I am interested in or at least I do. Or have been doing. In attempt to understand. Deciphering there are costs and prices that must be fulfilled they make things but at the cost of something and such things like a documentary is the cost of doing or conduct what they have done. So in a way they are taxed. That is why.

I've heard about that one. I'm not sure if it's a horror film or suspense. I myself like thrillers from the 60s. I think the movie you have is very alfred Hitchcockian in my opinion. great video beautiful sofia
