Remember that CAN bus wires are very prone to EMC/EMI from anything. Especially at higher baud rates. So have them shielded and twisted according to spec. Many uses patch/ethernet cables (shielded of cause), which is quite ok in many cases
@@gelisob modbus has some recommendations which were not that true cause growatt said 15 m, but in reality some have already achieved 125 m and up to 800 m should be possible. Not sure about Can Bus, but it depends on your configuration cause usually batteries run can bus for the car and inverters tend to use modbus , even though Growatt offers CAN BUS too, but a different dialect.
Victron support is not difficult using can bus. Reconfiguring a 400V pack down to 65V can be a little tricky though. If you are looking for a specific EV battery to do this I would recommend the Zoe ph2 52kWh given its internal cell layout and the fact I have one running with a Victron Multiplus 10KVA + Cooler Control GX.
@@TheKingpleb M3 would be a nightmare to do tbqh, it's entirely possible to do just not with the existing onboard cell monitoring (no balancing). The slave protocol has not yet been fully cracked (afaik), and I would expect the main BMS to panic of you tried to reconfigure the DC bus to an acceptable voltage.
GoodWe and Deye are on the "BYD BATTERY-BOX PREMIUM HVS&HVM COMPATIBLE INVERTER LIST", so most likelty these already work! Someone just needs to test it!

according to github Zoe should work now - in experimental mode, but I bet you will get it running too. Zoe on top of your ID.3 battery trailer will be a nice upgrade I guess, but the City Stromer is also still one of your running projects.

Would be great to see how your approach would work with the new Goodwe ET 25KW - 30KW Hybrid high voltage inverters as they have the capability to have two batteries connected via separate connections. With your interface, do you think it could handle a single Tesla model 3 battery connected across both inverter battery connections (simulating a pair of separately connected HVM11's?) No the env200 cannot get 62kWh installed, the shape is too different. Only 24/40 env200 is possible to swap between. Also the LEAF 62kWh batteries lack AC cooling.

Dude, the whole point of this is because there is 1000 systems already available to do what youre describing here, and 0-none for running complete packs.
See my other videos on using individual cells stringed together with a BMS. I do not recommend this, it costs a lot more, and requires way more skill/effort.

Yes, Pelle_C's Raspberry Pi variant has Batrium BMS support: gitlab.com/pelle8/gen24 However, I do not recommend using an external BMS. It will cost thousands of euros for the longmons and external components. Much better to re-use battery as-is!

Not by default. The project focuses on safe re-use of complete EV packs. If you build a custom battery, it's gonna have to be 400V and speak CAN. Not that easy thing to do! I would suggest picking up an old EV pack, see the wiki for compatibility: github.com/dalathegreat/Battery-Emulator/wiki

Dala, you are a real battery/EV wizzard, looking up to your projects. I have one question concerning the charging of the leaf battery. Is there a lower limit in charge below which you risk to reduce it's lifetime? The solar system will often deliver very little power... I am using openWB wallbox to charge my leaf on AC depending on solar production and I've set the minimum power to 1.4 kW. Beside the first question, are you aware on any low limit on AC charge for the leaf?

Renault Zoe was same as Renault Kangoo, both these are supported. No clue if Fluence is the same or similar, someone needs to be brave and test 😁

Yes it can be set either in the Battery-Emulator, or in the inverter settings. I myself have been charging battery ruding night now that it is winter!

No limits, the battery itself reports what it can handle, and the solar inverter acts accordingly!

Bad idea. Chademo cable costs 1400€. For that price, you can buy a 15kWh battery.
@@DalasEVRepair oh I see , it's not possible to make something that turns the port on and converts to ac 240v . I was watching your video using an old leaf battery as a power wall , was hoping I could keep the battery in the car and use it like your power wall. I'm finding now the car has 121000 miles it's down from 30kwh to 20kwh or so , atleast that's what leaf spy reports . What do you think of the VW e-up ? I'm thinking of either upgrading the leafs battery or buying a car with bigger range. If I do that leaf could be power wall . What you think

So is it possible to connect one with an conventinal stationary battery ( like BYD etc. ) and the other one, with the battery translator on an Leaf reused one?
