- Nestled between Syracuse and Rochester in Central New York, the community of Auburn is said to be the only place where the 4’ 11’’ Harriet Tubman lived, worked, and died. Along with her work in the Underground Railroad, she also acquired land for a house for the aging, which is now a National Historic Landmark. Bishop Harry V. Proctor of A.M.E. Zion Church would like to see a larger welcome center erected in Auburn for a renewed connection with Tubman’s life work.
My husband and I visited Harriet Tubman's home in August 2015. We also laid momentos at her grave a short distance away. It was once of the most moving experiences of my life!!!
I would love one day to go and visit her home in Auburn. What a Great women.
She is one of the most example of prophetic leadershop for all era.

I would to one day visit Harriet Tubman's house and put some flowers at her grave site. She was an amazing woman in history. I hope she is resting in peace. If I could travel back in time; I would have helped her in anyway I could.

Harriet Tubman Davis was a great women for freedom during slavery. She was uneducated, a black women and very small in physical features but God touch her life as did Jesus, Moses and Soloman a true warrior for humanity change.

Have you ever heard of a black man named "Bigger Long"? I am 100% certain that you haven't, wanna know why? because he NEVER existed...until this movie was released, and in said movie "Bigger Long" is the MAIN villain.
Mr. Long is a Black "slave" bounty hunter"...let me say that again, He was given a rifle to hunt down and kill escaping slaves...in this movie. The most violent scene in this Bullshit movie was when "Bigger Long" literally "STOMPS" and kicks "Janelle Monae's" head in and blood comes out of her eyes as she dies.
Meanwhile, the "WHITE" man that actually owned slaves was portrayed as a "fair" master and actually made to be a HEROIC SAVIOR at the end of the movie when he KILLS "Bigger Long"! This character and story was 100% fabricated and actually downplays the indescribable violence and brutality that our ancestors DID suffer at the hands of white slave owners....NOT some MADE UP slave catcher that NEVER existed.
Now lets get the main actress, Cynthia Erivo: I want you to google her bigoted and problematic comments that she has previously made about black Americans. She is a British born actress of Nigerian descent...nothing wrong with her birthplace, but WHY is/was she cast in this role vs the 1000's AA women who SHOULD have played this role? Notice a trend lately in regards to NON African Americans playing some of our greatest hero's in movies? It's what Samuel L. Jackson talked about last year and was unfairly criticized for doing. so.
There are additional reasons but I would like to hear you feedback prior to providing more reason NOT to SUPPORT this bullshit movie.

Now, that surprises me!! I gave her far more credit. And a merciful white slave owner is depicted in this film?? Oh please, now I know it's a garbage film!! As for Cynthia Ervino, I listened to her interview on Hot 97 two days ago. She tried to come across as sympathetic to the African American plight, but I wasn't fooled. Also, she was not questioned about the derogatory statements that she has made about African Americans (I looked into that). They basically coddled her in the Hot 97 interview!! To be honest with you, I never heard of Cynthia Ervino until a very short time ago. I am not on social media and don't too often check out TH-cam. I learned about this movie from PBS and other local TV stations. Will I see this movie?? NO WAY ON EARTH!!! And I will advise my friends and family not to waste their money either. As for Cynthia Ervino herself, I am not surprised at her attitude! Many so-called Black people from other countries despise African Americans, but don't mind making a BUCK off of African Americans!!!! You may be too young to remember, but back in the late 70's and early 80's, everybody was "Creole". And then they needed Black actors for roles in Alex Haley's Roots & The Cosby Show. Suddenly, everybody was "black as the ace of spades"!!! I've seen that behavior for over 40 years - nothing new here!!! smh
Just saw "Harriet" the movie and it was terrific. He was right, she was a baaad sister and I hope she will light a fire under us to do better, stick together, work together, love each other and us our freedom to the best of our abilities.
Do your home work. They inserted false narrative of our true history . Look in courts on what's happening. Sad we still sleep .
@@arnettahicklin9209 I am the last one to sleep. Very wise. My paternal grandmother was born in 1910, died 6 months shy of her 100th birthday in 2010. Her parents were born at the end of Slavery and her grand parents were slaves. My paternal grandfather was 20 yrs older than my grandmother and was a share cropper and his parents were born into slavery so you can only imagine what he and his parent went through in and at the end of slavery. My father taught me alot and so did my grandmother. I know a little bit.
I think we should stop shy of degrading our black actors and actresses by saying it was trash and the acting was bad. They did a good job I think. Listen there are plenty of bad caucasian actors and their movies blow up. I can name 100 bad movies with all white cast members and no one says a thing. We always tear down our own movies and actors so no oneelse has to do it for us. The show " Friends and Seinfield" " were not good shows but those actors are still racking in the bucks bc their followers are dedicated. 50 shades of Grey was bad and the sequel was even worse. It blew up and stayed popular for years. Why, because people supported an all white cast no matter how bad it was and so did we. These actors on Harriet worked hard and don't deserve to have their work denigrated simply because they had a bad script or because the writers didn't do a fantastic job. All movies that are based on true stories or inspired by true stories all have incorrect and inaccurate info. Every detail of a person's life and everyday run ins are not recorded at least not before smart phones and social media when everyone seems to have to record and report when they go to the bathroom or what they are eating. Things are added and things are taken away to build or support a story. Just ask Lifetime network. Support these actors.

However, sometimes it is important to demand accuracy when telling our history. It is the inaccuracies and distortions that even now have us digging for the truth of who we are and where we come from.
Dr. Carter G Woodson said, We must be ever vigilant, since the enslavement of the body has ended, the next enslavement is that of the mind.
Today's entertainment is mixed with psychological traps and we must be able to sort them out.
Again, I appreciate all of who you are but take a second analytical look at the movie. Are the feel good moments really worth the psychological land mines in the movie? And is it really ok for one of our most honored and precious icons to be played by an individual who has mocked and expressed disdain for us?
@@protectedspirit7692 I couldn't agree more! I feel that accuracy when depicting Black history takes precedence over art form! Also, it is true that Harriet was played by an actor who openly mocked African Americans. Good acting, bad acting notwithstanding.
