Really like that your video covers the knife disassembly and reassembly in only 6 minutes. I can't stand those half hour long videos where the guy spends 20 minutes talking about every little part and piece. We're not rebuilding a cvt transmission, it's a freaking knife. Thanks

Ultrasonic cleaner works really well to get all the junk out of the clip side. I usually just throw everything in. Also shoot the blade into a cardboard box to let the tension off the springs. It should be able to slide in and out easily and the button won’t activate it. Makes taking the knife apart that much easier. No pliers needed.

Would love to see some comparisons between the clones of the internals. Keep up the good work!

That is a good one - they don’t come close :) real one is polished spring rail and better material and fake one is way less quality

haha love it, you done good. Mine is still stiff a/f so I'm going to be taking it apart to see what I can do to make it better. I guess its possible to stretch the spring a little, if the oiling doesn't work. I'm seeing there are a lot of complaints about them being overly stiff out of the box. Could be a variation in the springs they get I suppose.

LOL - you saw the shout out ! - I’ve taken a few of these apart and the springs are tough when they are new … mine actually was a little sticky . Hence the WD40 … my experience dryer the better - I just put one drop on the blade pin slide … that’s it - try that and if that doesn’t loosen it up , and it doesn’t smooth out send it back to Microtech they’ll get it going and they’ll sharpen it while it’s there for maintenance- thanks for watching

Tried to take mine apart to get pocket lint out. Damn thing exploded everywhere as soon as I took the cover off. Now I’m looking for a video to help me put it back together again to hope I didn’t lose any springs or anything. .

Go through the screws make sure you have all of them. you’ll have the blade and the rail and a spring system that hooks on the rail … then you’ll have a button that slides …. And in that button will be one spring … hopefully you find all the parts :) What model do you have?

I'm about to try this, and this crossed my mind. The parts flying everywhere when the case is removed. Did it explode when the blade was retracted? You'd think the spring would have tension when the blade is out..

Is it normal for the trigger/action button to be a bit loose? Kinda clicky?

This is my first real one - I thought the same thing there is a little spring in there so I hope it’s how it’s intended to be

My UTX-70 button is loose. Has been from day one. Hasn’t changed in years and action is still crisp

I've got a bunch of otf's. In my experience they work best when run nearly dry, just a light coat of remoil/clp. Too much lube (even ultralight) can easily gum them up. Just imo.

Yup that is my experience - and what I found from this video Microtech uses white grease just a dab - thanks for watching

Nice one on just opening that puppy up and try to fix it yourself! Must feel way better than panicking and shipping it back to microtech :P i also understand what happened to the knife making it misfire. They put lithium greese on the spring to dampen the TWAANG sound, the wd40 probably made the greese go a bit thin and run down to the bottom making retrackting and locking the blade impossible because its pretty much a swimming pool. Im guessing you could use wd40 if the greese is gone. It does keep the knife nice and dry and a bit lubricated :P

    • @ArizonaLifestyles1
      @ArizonaLifestyles1  ปีที่แล้ว

Ha yup - you are right they use that white lithium grease … and not a lot of it … just on the blade pin … that’s it .. and when these OTF knives get used anything on the blade gets pushed back in that case and gets deposited in the slide and pin groove … that’s why it’s important to clean the blade before ya TWANG it back in :) thanks for commenting and watching

you should have deployed it halfway (let the blade hit a table or something) before disassembling, that way the blade isn’t under spring pressure. Also, how tf did you pull the blade out without removing the stop pin??

I have 30 dollar OTFs that look exactly the same inside, hard to believe this is a $300 plus dollar knife.

It’s crazy isn’t it? I took a deep inspection the real internals are milled and probably fake are cast … one in my collection is my carbon fiber and Damascus clone which was $60 has not misfired ever and the guts are cast
